Circumscription of the Scrophulariaceae is going to need considerable attention, in part because so many changes have been made (and so rapidly) and in part because it is still in flux. Despite referral of several genera to the families fragmented from Scrophulariaceae s.l. I'm fairly certain there are several more genera still listed for the family that have been removed. - The words "Disintegration of the family Scrophulariaceae" are very well employed, also will must call the authors of this article disintegrators of Taxonomy! Berton 13:40, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
The Phygelius genus is placed in the Scrophulariaceae family? --Ricardo Carneiro Pires 15:29, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, according to the Angiosperm Phylogeny Website [1]. It gives for the Scrophulariaceae a list of 65 genera, including Phygelius. JoJan 16:42, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Former genera
Moved here from the main namespace to tidy up and reduce confusion. --Peta 00:59, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- I think it should go back - this list is something I've actually used regularly in this article, I'm sure other people find the collection of forwarding pointers useful in dealing with the chaos. One could make it more compact just by listing new family (since there are only a couple) followed by comma-separated list of genera moved to to it. Stan 01:12, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, put it back. It's relevant because "Scrophulariaceae" has had two widely differing circumscriptions in recent years, is useful, and doesn't really fit anywhere else. But one quibble: the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group has had nothing to do with any of these genera being transferred between families; that information has come from other publications. The APG and APG II systems are family-level classifications but do not circumscribe any families at the level of genus, except in the case of monogeneric families.
