From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
ScreenSelect was a DVD rental service based in the United Kingdom. Founded in 2003 by William Reeve and Alex Chesterman, it became the trading name of Video Island when the two companies merged in 2004.
ScreenSelect offered unlimited DVD rentals for a fixed fee each month. Depending on what monthly price was paid (£9.99 to £14.99), the subscriber could have one, two or three discs out at one time. It had the largest selection of movies compared to other DVD rental services. There are over 60,000 titles to choose from and advertises as having every UK DVD. Video games can also be rented. There are games available to rent for Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Xbox and Xbox 360.
ScreenSelect merged with LOVEFiLM in April 2006. It changed its name to LOVEFiLM, and its technology took over the LOVEFiLM business. It changed some of its prices at this point.
