Scratch (musician)

Scratch (born Kyle Jones) is an American hip hop artist. He is a hip hop MC who specializes in beatboxing or vocal percussion. He is probably best known as a member of Grammy Award-winning band The Roots.

Originally a member of Philadelphia based rap group, Schoolz Of Thought, he joined The Roots in 1998.

Scratch released his album The Embodiment of Instrumentation in 2002 on the Rope A Dope record label, which featured The Roots, Dice Raw, E.S.T of Three Times Dope, Cyph Born of Aphillyation, Bilal, Jill Scott, Malik B and M.A.R.S. Co-Op.

After the release of his solo LP he abruptly left The Roots in 2003. He now continues to tour the world. His new upcoming album entitled Loss 4 Wordz features artists Kanye West, Musiq, Gorillaz, and Peedi-Peedi. He also appears on British rapper GoldieLocks's EP, titled Goldie's Oldies.
