[edit] Clapham Junction railway station
Scott, you've just changed the multimap link in the above page to {{Geolinks-cityscale|51.4646|-0.1705}}. Could you help a little: the terraserver aerial photo sucks in compariuson with the multimap version. Are you familiar enough with the template you;ve just pasted in, to make changes to it to give us back the multimap photo (and perhaps GoogleMaps too?). thanks --Tagishsimon (talk)
- Thanks for the re-work you did on Clapham Junction. I guess there may be an argument - if I understand your comments correctly - for us implementing a scale 8 as well as scale 15 template for terraserver, applying the 8 only where we can. But to my shame I've not got my head around template that inherit parameters, so will probably stick to stealing images from project gutenberg. Good that we have these multiple-link templates such as Geolinks-cityscale, though. best wishes --Tagishsimon (talk)
[edit] Igloolik, Nunavut & the Template:Geolinks-cityscale
I saw that you had added the template and was thinking to use it in some of the other Northern communities. I wondered if you could redo & rename the template to give it a scale of 1:30000 the same as for airports. This would give a good satellite image to most places in the north. I noticed that there is a Geolinks-Canada-townscale template but it is 1:1000 and the satellite image has not been updated for all of the northern communities. As an example Igloolik has a new image but Cambridge Bay is still the older blurry image. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 16:25, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- OK. All of this is concerned more with the satellite images than the maps. If you go back to Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, Cambridge Bay Airport, Igloolik, Nunavut and Igloolik Airport. If you click first on the coordinates in the infobox for Igloolik Airport the resulting map source page is set at a scale of 1:30000. Which actually shows the entire airport and town with a clear image, while the Cambridge Bay Airport is visible but fuzzy.
- Now, if you click on the first link ("Maps and aerial photos") in Igloolik and Cambridge Bay the scale shown is 1:300000 on the Igloolik map sources page. The resulting satellite image seems to me to be to far out and I think would look better at 1:30000.
- On the next line ("Mapping from Multimap or GlobalGuide or Google Maps") the Multimap looks silly but nothing can be done about that. Both the GlobalGuide and Google Maps look fine and give a good satellite image. The "Aerial image from TerraServer" also gives a really good idea as to the position of the community in its general area.
- I didn't see this the other day but the "Satellite image from WikiMapia" is zoomed too far in. With Igloolik you get a street level picture but with Cambridge Bay you actually have to zoom out 2 or 3 times to get an image. This is because Google has redone some of the images in the north but not all.
- So what I am asking is would it be possible to redo the template, calling it for example "Template:Geolinks-villagescale", with the first link and the last link at a different scale. I tried myself but couldn't figure out how the scale in the template was arrived at. This would work for all communities in Northern Canada and probably for other villages in other parts of the world. It's not something that needs doing in a big rush as viewers can zoom in and out as required but I just thought it would look better. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 14:10, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi Scotthatton, sorry for causing inconvenience because of deletion of the article. But half-liner articles are not acceptable on Wikipedia. So, I had to delete the article according to speedy deletion criteria. Regards, Shyam (T/C) 15:17, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Yangon
Your edit of geo coordinates has disappeared because the page was suffering from vandalism and I had to revert to yesterday's version. I didn't want to fiddle with your template but please feel free to put it back again! Andrew Dalby 14:52, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Removal of talk page comments made by others
Hello, it may not have been your intention, but you removed a comment made by another user (me actually) whilst doing this edit. Please be more careful in future not to overwrite any existing comments on somebody else's talk page. Thanks. :) Bubba hotep 14:04, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Cape Cross
Hi Scott - you wrote: Hi Grutness. I noticed you flagged my new Cape Cross article as lacking references. I can't really see how I could add any! It is that far from Hentiesbaai and it really does have a seal colony. I saw it myself!
'twasn't me! All I did was change {{stub}} to the more accurate {{Namibia-geo-stub}}. The cleanup tag was added by User:Jeepday. As to finding references, googling turns up a few possibilities! Grutness...wha? 22:41, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Geolinks vs Coor templates
Please see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Geographical_coordinates#New template replaces .22coor.22 family and cease replacing "coor" family templates with "Geolinks" templates, until the matter is resolved. Thank you. Andy Mabbett 13:52, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Coordinate titles
Hi! I noticed you had asked at Template talk:GeoTemplate#Geolinks:Cityscale for a title parameter to be added to coordinate templates so that it could be used on maps. There is now a request for comment on a proposal to add the functionality to {{coord}}. Please voice your opinion about it at Template talk:Coord#Request for Comment. Thanks. --Para 10:54, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

[edit] Geolinks and coord templates
- I went through the many template talk pages adding pointers to the discussion so people who were interested could participate, I'm sorry that you did not notice the notice. You're ignoring the efforts reflected in the several discussion in that project's Talk page. You noticed editing of the template much more quickly than editing of its Talk page. The coordinates which you added are still being used; I've also been adding coordinates through several templates and it is the location info which everyone is trying to preserve in useful form. The value of those locations is being improved by being available through more tools, depending upon what your needs are. Indeed, your locations will soon show up as Wikipedia markers on Google Earth when the googlebot-compatible coord template is properly exposed. -- SEWilco (talk) 15:30, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Eolas staff.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Eolas staff.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:18, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
