Welcome!

Hello Scope creep, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. Hi, just a note--Wikipedia is not a collection of source material. For that, you might want to check out our sister project, Wikisource. They already had the text of The Cornelian there, so I've deleted the version you posted here. Best wishes, Meelar (talk) 21:15, July 25, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Woodcarving

I noticed that you have contributed to the Wood carving article. Please vote for Woodcarving at the Wikipedia:Article Improvement Drive --Reflex Reaction 14:56, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Redirect bypassation

Hi, I noticed that you made an edit to bypass a redirect at Pattern matching. However, WP:REDIRECT specifically forbids editing solely to avoid redirects - it introduces needsless verbiage at a net heavier load on the servers. Please bear this in mind when you are pondering circumventing redirects. --Sam Pointon 22:34, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

My mistake - it was adding a whole new link, not just piping. I should look at the diffs closer. --Sam Pointon 22:36, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tobacco Smoking

I see that you have made major contributions to the Tobacco smoking page on Wikipedia and I have a question. Do you know anything about tobacco farm subsidies as they relate to the government fight against smoking? --GoOdCoNtEnT 20:58, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Sorry GoOdCoNtEnT, haven't a scobie. scope_creep 19:38, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] British linkfixing

Since [[United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland|British]] wikilinks to a redirect, wouldn't it be simpler to just make your edits point to United Kingdom? Or am I missing something? --DeLarge 22:19, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Naw, I don't think so. There is 3 seperate phases of brits, most of them cover that (80%). There is also the British empire, which is in the second period. I think it would blur it. If you could identiy which articles relate to brits later than 1922, the modern era and wasn't antyhing to do with army, then you would get 80% of them, and the link could be put in there. i think 10% 300 or so, is 1700 stuff. I think this is my last disamg gaf. (scope_creep 19:37, 5 August 2006 (UTC))

I reiterate the OP. Please stop disambigging to a redirect. Eitehr fix the link properly, or leave it as it is. - UtherSRG (talk) 20:07, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Speedy delete" call

With regards to this edit:

Please note that "non notable" is not a criteria for speedy deletion. Failure to assert notability is. For more information on when exactly to call for (as well as when not to call for) a speedy delete, refer to Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steven De Lelie

I noticed your vote at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steven De Lelie. The article Steven De Lelie now has some references. Could you please take another look at it? --TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 23:22, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/The_NESkimos

Could you also look at your vote on the NESkimos artical? The arguments for a keep are there, but to recap for you, 1. The artical passes one, maybe two, points, however it only needs to pass ONE. 2. Notable sources have been cited.

Thank you very much!

[edit] XPLANE

Regarding your vote for deletion: I reviewed the Wikipedia deletion policy and did not see "notable" as a requisite criteria for inclusion. I believe that XPLANE IS notable, however I petition you to withdraw your vote for deletion as it does not appear to be supported by the Wikipedia policy. dgray_xplane

[edit] AFD for Einstein's Special Theory Of Relativity

You added this Afd to the afd log, but did not actually nominate it for afd. I have removed it from the Afd log. If you wish to nominate it for deletion, please follow the steps at WP:AFD#How to list pages for deletion. Regards, Flyguy649talkcontribs 17:59, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Update process of software deployment

In the software deployment discussion you commented that "...updating software is a nightmare sometimes. I think is needs several categories the question is what." I have added an expanded Update section with two major subcategories, built-in and version tracking. I'm not sure what you were expecting and I would appreciate your comments. [edit] Re: Help with creating maps

Hello Scope creep,

Thanks for the contact. Thinking hard how exactly I can get across the map-making process, I think the first question I should ask should be if you are familliar with Adobe Illustrator or other vector based graphics software? If you're familliar with this kind of software I think I can communicate the process quite well. -- Jza84 · (talk) 21:34, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Afd

I have replied to your comments on this AfD Please elaborate on your keep vote. Twenty Years 17:07, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jewish subversion

Hello, it would be nice if you could help out with adding the literature you've read about this topic, so that we can collaborate on the article and make it NPOV and report on this historical topic of Jewish history. Your help is appreciated. — EliasAlucard|Talk 19:53 31 Oct, 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfDs

On November 18., you contributed to 78 different AfD debates over 9 hours, some of them several times. I admire your industry--and your remarkable range of interests--but one thing that would help us all, is that if you failed to find sources for an article, tell us where you looked so the work doesn't have to be duplicated. DGG (talk) 21:47, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Scottish Junior football

You recently contributed to an AfD for several Scottish Junior Football Association teams, you are aware that Junior football does not mean youth football in Scotland Aren't you?King of the NorthEast 00:01, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Do you actually have any knowledge about Scottish football outwith the SPL or are you just another ignorant user who wants to rid wikipedia of any articles with are of no relevance to you personally?

Junior football is a very valued level of football where local communities can go along and get involved with their local team and feel like the can influence to help the local area. Please can you put any respond on my usertalk page, thanks Dreamweaverjack (talk) 04:42, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD edit summaries

Please use your edit summaries. Further, adding a comment either for or against is not at all a minor edit. Rather, put a summary, even just 'delete' or 'keep'. When nominators or other involved parties set the AfD to be watched, they won't see your input, jsut he bolded M. thank you. ThuranX (talk) 00:22, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AFD

If you're going to be an AFD regular from now on, I think we all would appreciate it if you would familiarize yourself better with policy documents. For instance, "hail to the speedy" is really unnecessary and misleading when articles are not eligible for an actual speedy deletion. Speedy is not for getting rid of stuff you don't like faster. Also, when making arguments about notability, try to generalize a little less and invoke policy a little more. We're not asking for your opinion of the person, we're asking for your evaluation of the article and its conformance to guidelines. Thanks! --Dhartung | Talk 19:12, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AFD

Is this a typo?. Regards, Rudget.talk 19:17, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Its a really scrappy article, but I think we should keep all schools. If we keep, the article needs updated, rewritten and probably wikied. Could you please refer to actual policy rather than WP:ILIKEIT?Garrie 02:59, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

My edit summary says it all. What was the purpose of adding a hash mark? - Dudesleeper · Talk 23:06, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

And removing birthplaces from intros because they're mentioned in infoboxes isn't wise. Apart from that, your edits are going swimmingly... - Dudesleeper · Talk 16:02, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
To create a talk-page archive page, you'd go to User talk:Scope creep/Archive 1 and create the page, then move (copy and paste) the material you're archiving to the new page. Remember to make sure the archive appears as a discussion page (which, if you follow the link I gave, it will). - Dudesleeper · Talk 21:18, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stephen Farrows and The Rig Rompers

Just wondering... how do you see this as nonsense? It's not nonsense to me... it's just not notable. B110 communicate (that means talk) 03:26, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion contested

I should think that reviews in the New York Times, Village Voice, New York Observer, New York Sun and The New Yorker would establish notability! Robert Greer (talk) 22:00, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Cross posted from In Vento talk page

Hi, no it does not. Read WP policies regarding the matter. It is clearly not notable. scope_creep (talk) 22:03, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] This has been previously debated and resolved in favor of pages similar to In Vento

Please read the (much too) long debates on my talk page (they're way too long -- and boring! -- to cross post.) If you want I can refer you to various articles' talk pages with further debates.

An unrelated matter; please post your comments at the bottom of my talk page (or anybody else's for that matter). You can do so automatically by clicking on the little plus sign between "edit this page" and "history".

I apologize for having taken the liberty of moving your reply on my talk page to the bottom. Robert Greer (talk) 22:13, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] David M. Broome notability

I've deleted the speedy tag from the article David M. Broome because I believe the references in the article at least presume to give some indication for real notability. Please feel free to prod or send to WP:AFD if you continue to disagree.

After much struggling with the author about the speedy tag, he's gotten the message and now seems to understand how things work here. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 22:33, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Meat shoot speedy tag

Hi there, I've declined the speedy tag here although I absolutely agree that the article is original research. However OR is not a sufficient reason for speedying, and I suggest going through WP:PROD or WP:AFD instead. Incidentally, when tagging an article it's a good idea to warn the originating editor that you've done so. I guess you applied the tag manually? Using something like WP:TWINKLE does this autmoatically (sorry if I'm teaching grandma to suck eggs here...) Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 22:49, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD

Why have you nominated FIMI number-one hits of 2002 and FIMI number-one hits of 2008 for deletion? There's absolutely nothing wrong with those articles, they're sourced and everything, and you didn't give a reason for deletion either. Funk Junkie (talk) 23:44, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Curious...

...as to why you did this for an articles whose only content was "Kinetic Communications is based in Birmingham, Alabama and is an internet technology studio specializing in web site development, video production and interactive multimedia presentations". John Reaves 00:25, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Edit summaries

Please use edit summaries when tagging articles for speedy deletion. You may also want to hold your horses as you have had a number of nominations declined recently. Catchpole (talk) 10:34, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Stephen Farrows and the Rig Rompers

I believe that this is a good and benefitial article. But it is not notable. How would the Author make this notable to Wikipedia's tight restrictions? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephenbarrows15 (talkcontribs) 02:15, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of List of places in East Renfrewshire

A tag has been placed on List of places in East Renfrewshire requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Mblumber (talk) 13:34, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
