Template talk:Scottish National Party/meta/shortname

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This should be the shortest distinct name. It has to fit into a lot of templates where space is of the essence. As you can see from Wikipedia:Index of United Kingdom political parties meta attributes, "Party" is only used in a shortname where its omission could lead to confusion (e.g. "Ind. Labour Party" to distinguish it from Independent Labour candidates, or "Referendum Party" to ensure there is no confusion with referenda. Warofdreams talk 04:02, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

The party is never knows as just "Scottish National" - that is just a classic Wikipedia neologism. --Mais oui! 09:49, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

'Scottish Senior Citizens' is not a name for the Scottish Senior Citizens' Unity Party, but it suffices as its short name here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.138.82.150 (talk) 01:26, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
