[edit] Advertisement?

I don't agree that this article reads like an advertisement. The user who added the tag did not offer any justification or input. I believe it should be removed. Any opinions? Lord Bodak 14:21, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

The second sentence looks like a blatant shill to me. If you disagree, feel free to remove the {{advert}} tag. Isopropyl 14:37, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
I took out the part specifying the $7 commission. But they are known for their online features (they were one of the first online brokerages, their commissions are much better than the competition, and their founder does appear in the commercials. What do you think we need to say to make it not sound like a blatant shill? Lord Bodak 15:12, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Saying that Scottrade's commissions are "much better than the competition" would definitely be POV, but that's not on the page. Saying they're known for their low commissions is also POV unless the source is a reputable third-party. Isopropyl 22:58, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Now wait a second. Commissions are not opinion, they're quantitative. We're talking a dollar value, how is it subjective or POV to say $7 is better than $10? Lord Bodak 23:43, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
I think it should be "they have the lowest commissions of any stockbroker" or something. --Liface 23:56, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

I have a Scottrade account. Saying they have the lowest commissions is CORRECT. Find me a brokerage firm that has offices and the extensive website they provide for $7 trades, regardless of account size or trading frequency...it does not exist.

aside: while watching the current series of Scottrade ads, has anyone noticed that the tail rotor on the helicopter which Rodger Riney appears to be piloting is not even spinning? In real life, a helicopter in this configuration would gyrate dangerously out of control. Where were the tech advisers when this commercial was being produced? Escherplex 16:42, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

umm...who cares about the tail of the helicopter? Do you know how many 'goofs' movies have? TONS...it happens.

[edit] Reliable Sources Needed

It is a bunch of original research, unitl some references other than thier web site are used. --Rocksanddirt 21:47, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

I've deleted all the corporate propaganda from this article. There's not much left. To all editors affiliated with Scottrade: please do not edit this article directly. If you would like to suggest changes and additions, please leave messages here on the talk page. Please include a reference to an independent source of information whenever possible. Wikipedia generally prefers to link to news sources, such as the Wall Street Journal, rather than corporate press releases. Thanks. - Jehochman Talk 02:10, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
