The introduction to the article makes it sound as though any locality which matches a scottish place name is eligible. That doesn't make a lot of sense if the New Zealand locality was named for someone or something else and just happens to be the same as a Scots name. References should be provided. dramatic 22:01, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

A lot of Scottish surnames derive from placenames, and I think these would qualify. If they are the same as a distinctive Scottish place name, then Occam's razor would dictate that they normally are. I have had enough trouble trying to locate Scottish placenames across the globe... the ref.s are the next stage... At any rate the NZ article must be kept in line with the intl, US, Oz and Can. ones.--MacRusgail 14:37, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
