Because 'Scott Stevens' captaincy is viewed as having ended in September 2005 with his retirement (not Jan 2004, since he last played in the NHL), Elias is not listed as Niedermayer's immediate successor. GoodDay 19:11, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

It probably bears mentioning that, as of 2007, Scott Niedermayer is "the only player in the game who has won a Stanley Cup (three of them), an Olympic gold medal, a World Cup, World Championship, World Junior Championship and Memorial Cup titles."
