[edit] Merging Michigan Corners, New York

Discussion to be moved here from AfD. Daniel Case 06:09, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

I still think the appropriate venue for this discussion is on the talkpage of the wikiproject for New York. Namely, at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject New York. The discussion hasn't yet begun there because neither of us has started it there as yet. Like I said, however, the Michigan Corners subject is a good launching point for a discussion of how to cover unincorporated and no-longer-extant communities in New York. I don't see why NY's gone-in-all-but-name communities are any different than any other state's ... and given the relatively low traffic at that project's talk page, I don't think we'd accomplish much more there. Daniel Case 20:27, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
They're not any different. That's not what I was attempting to imply. I was simply saying that rather than hash it out on the talkpage of something you want to redirect another article to, it should be discussed in a more open venue. If you're not seeing much traffic on the project talkpage, look at what's been done in other state wikiprojects. See also Category:Unincorporated communities in New York, and work collaboratively with the editors who have contributed to the articles there. Cheers, Tomertalk 22:01, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
