Scott Nelson (born September 6, 1985) is an American soccer player who currently plays for the Houston Dynamo team in Major League Soccer.

Nelson played four years at Furman University, scoring thirty one goals during his collegiate career and fighting back from a hip injury during his sophomore year. He was noted for his versatility and work ethic.

Nelson was drafted by the Dynamo in the 5th round of the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft - a draft that he watched online with his older brother Rob - as the 56th supplemental pick overall. Though he played as both a forward and a midfielder in college, Nelson appears likely to be converted to a left side-midfielder or left-back in MLS. There is also a chance he could see some action as a goalie due to his incredible wingspan(83 inches). Started 15 games at goalie during his junior year at Furman.

He played several games with the Under-20 United States national team in 2004 playing primarily forward.
