Scott Alexander Maslen[1] (born July 15, 1971 in London, England) is an English actor best known for his portrayal as DS Phil Hunter in ITV's The Bill and now Jack Branning on the BBC's flagship soap EastEnders.

Scott Maslen was born in London, England on July 15, 1971.

He was brought up in Woolwich and joined the Royal Marines at the age of 16. He later sustained an injury whilst in the Marines, resulting in him having to leave. He is also a supporter of the West Ham United Football Club and can be seen interviewed on the 05/06 Season Review DVD. He is a vegetarian; he discussed this on a recent appearance on The Paul O'Grady Show.
He has a seven-year-old son named Zak with his partner Estelle Harris.[2]
The couple are planning their wedding, which will take place in September 2008.[citation needed]
He is best friends with his EastEnders co-star Samantha Janus and her husband Mark Womack. He is also godfather to their two children, Lily-Rose and Benjamen. Benjamen is also best friends with Scott's son Zak.[3]
He was nominated in the top four for "Sexiest Male" at the British Soap Awards 2008, but was beaten by Rob James-Collier from Coronation Street.

After being injured while serving in the Marines, he went to Miami at 18 to see where fortune lay and was spotted by photographer Bruce Weber, and he earned a successful career as an international model, travelling the world earning "a good living" in glamorous locations.

Five years later, he turned to acting and landed a role in the successful television series Lock, Stock... in 2000. He has also played the live action rendition of Claude Speed in DMA Design's promotional video and opening sequence for Grand Theft Auto 2. After a few more television and film roles he landed his part in The Bill in 2002.
On 13 July 2007 it was announced that Maslen would be leaving The Bill and joining the cast of Eastenders as regular character Jack Branning.[4] His love interest is Ronnie Mitchell, played by close friend Samantha Janus. Both actors were uncomfortable doing love scenes since they have known each other most of their lives and are like brother and sister.[5][6]
