Scott Cameron Linebrink (born August 4, 1976) is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Chicago White Sox. He was born in Austin, Texas. He attended Texas State University.
In 2004 and 2005, while playing for the San Diego Padres, he was arguably the best setup man in baseball, going 7-3 with a 2.14 earned run average and 8-1 with a 1.83 ERA, respectively. He was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers for 3 minor leaguers on July 25, 2007.
Linebrink wears #71 in honor of Mark Merila, former bullpen catcher for the Padres, who had battled a brain tumor.[citation needed]
