Scorpions (paramilitary)

The Scorpions (Škorpioni) were a Serbian paramilitary group which terrorised non-serb population in the wars in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.[1] The unit was formed in 1991 in what was then the breakaway Croatian Serb Republic of Serbian Krajina.[1] The Scorpion leader was Slobodan Medić.[2]

- Srebrenica massacre - In 2007 commander Slobodan Medić and three other Scorpions were sentenced in a Serbian court for their involvement in killings in Srebrenica.[2]
- Podujevo massacre - Scorpions member Saša Cvjetan was charged with his role in killings in Podujevo and was sentenced to 20 years by a Serbian court.[3]
