James "Scoonie" Penn (born January 9, 1977 in Brooklyn, New York City) is an American basketball player who played at Boston College before transferring to The Ohio State University, where he teamed up to form a dominant backcourt with current Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard Michael Redd. Penn played as a point guard in 2005/06 for the renowned Croatian club Cibona Zagreb and for the 2006/07 season was a member of the Greek club Olympiacos. He is now playing for Efes Pilsen S.K.

His height is 180 cm, and weighs 82 kg.

  • 1996-97 First Team All-Big East Conference. Conference's Tournament Championship winner (MVP).
  • 1998-99 Big Ten Conference Player of the Year.
  • 1999-2000 Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award as the nation's top senior under 6'0" (1.83 m) tall.
  • Selected Third Team All-America and First Team All-Big Ten Conference in both his junior and senior seasons. Ended his career at Ohio State University as the college's all-time leader in three-point field goals made.
