[edit] Nuclear Testing on Christmas Island during the 1950's and 60's
The island I think you were thinking of is Kiritimati. -Henry W. Schmitt 04:26, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Christmas Island IS Kiritimati. See Kiritimati Scott Clarkson 01:44, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- Kiritimati is A Christmas Island, but not Christmas Island. Captain Cook found Kiritimati around Christmas 1777, and up until the Gilbert Islands (now Kiribati) independence from Britain in 1979, this island was known as Christmas Island. Since this time it is known as Kiritimati. In Gilbertese, "Kiritimati" is pronounced "Christmas", and today the atoll is still known to most as "Christmas Island". --Henry W.
