Hey Scifiter. Some suggestions. First, put your contributions on your user page and your conversations on this one. I screwed this up at first too.

Second, I have been having problems with UtherSrg deleting images. Check on Jack's talk page ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:JackLynch ) and there is a small list of administrators you can contact concerning the matter. Try to stay concise. I have noticed you have a problem with that, no offense. Lizard King 22:49, 2 Feb 2004 (UTC)

[edit] What browser are you using?

Why are you removing all the <h2>s (Double-= headers) from articles? The top-level headers on every page should be ==Like this== - SoM 1 July 2005 01:00 (UTC)

Newest verion of internet explorer. Its something that Wikipedia just started and its screwing up the tables.ScifiterX 1 July 2005 01:01 (UTC)
No it's not. The lines on h1 and h2 headers have been there for yoinks. And see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(headings)#Headings_markup - SoM 1 July 2005 01:04 (UTC)

No the lines were there before but now they cut into the tables. This is because of something that changed with Wikipedia. I am using the current version of internet explorer and just today those lines started cuting into the tables.

Are you using the current version of internet explorer or some other browser? ScifiterX 1 July 2005 01:06 (UTC)

I'm using Firefox as a matter of course, and it's still working normally there. I see what you mean when I view it in MSIE. But file a bug report rather than changing a bunch of pages. It'll get fixed, and all those pages would have to be changed back. It's, at worst, mildly distracting rather than fatal anyway. - SoM 1 July 2005 01:11 (UTC)

I don't know how to file a bug report, how to state the problem, and I seriously doubt anyone would listen to me. How do I file a bug report?ScifiterX 1 July 2005 01:24 (UTC)

Okay.... It says this:

Enter Bug: First, you must pick a product on which to enter a bug.

  • Kate's Tools: Experimental wiki-related tools at http://kohl.wikimedia.org/
  • MediaWiki: The wiki software itself -- most issues about how the wiki works should go here.
  • MediaWiki extensions: MediaWiki extensions, including texvc, EasyTimeline, Lucene search and CharInsert.
  • Wikimedia web sites: Configuration and other issues specific to Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Commons, and other Wikimedia projects, this includes issues with MediaZilla (this bugtracker).

But I don't know what part of these is has the bug in it. ScifiterX 1 July 2005 01:29 (UTC)

File it at http://bugzilla.wikipedia.org/
And, on a rather unrelated note, stop colouring Marvel characters as DC Characters in the SHBes. Marvel Characters should ALWAYS have comic_color=background:#ff8080 , regardless of their alliance_color - SoM 1 July 2005 01:34 (UTC)

SHOW ME THE RULE. I WANT TO SEE IT. IF THAT IS THE WAY MOST WANTED IT, I WOULD GO WITH THE FLOW, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS RULE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.ScifiterX 1 July 2005 02:25 (UTC)

Ummmm... it's in the instructions for the use of the template and has been since the very first version of the template. i.e. RTFM: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Comics/Templates - SoM 1 July 2005 02:31 (UTC)
Ummmm... Thank you. All I asked was for you to show me the rule. ScifiterX1 July 2005 03:29 (UTC)

My gawd this is frustrating. If you look at what I wrote before what posted the link you would have seen that I HAD ALREADY BEEN THERE! I am asking you for specific instructions. You are OBFUSCATING. [ 1 July 2005 02:18 (UTC)

LOL. Misread it :)
Been discussing it on IRC, and it's most likely to be the CSS, so file it under "Wikimedia web sites". And please don't SHOUT on my user page (at the top no less - I need one of those "reply at the bottom" templates) after I've already clarified. - SoM

CSS? What is that? I did file it under Wikimedia web sites but then there were several options there and it wasn't clear which one to chose. I am going to go ask another long time member about this. ScifiterX 1 July 2005 02:44 (UTC)

Cascading Style Sheets - SoM 1 July 2005 02:46 (UTC)

[edit] Browser Hassles

You are not the only person to notice that some Wiki pages are hostile to some browsers. A project has been started to try to identify all that needs to be fixed, and to fix it ... see Wikipedia:WikiProject Usability. This includes making Wiki friendly to all major browsers, friendly to the disabled, the elderly, other Internet users. For example, I am age 60 ... some Wiki pages I can read fine, some are totally undreadable. AlMac 1 July 2005 03:43 (UTC)

THanks for the response.ScifiterX 1 July 2005 17:38 (UTC)

[edit] *sigh*

AGAIN YOUR INSTRUCTIONS ARE JUST VAGUE AND POINTLESS. I LEFT A BUG REPORT BUT THERE WERE SO MANY VARIABLES I VERY SERIOUSLY DOUBT ANYONE WILL EVER READ IT. LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE DOING A LITTLE REVERTING FOR MY FELLOW INTERNET EXPLORER USERS (WE ARE THE MAJORITY SOM)

  1. If you do start changing all the headings again, I will report you at Wikipedia:Vandalism in Progress rather than trying to fix it quietly myself.
  2. Shouting is just rude
  3. Forgive me for thinking you'd have the intelligence to go through the options yourself. If I wanted to go through it step-by-step, I'd have filed the damn report myself and been done with it. - SoM 1 July 2005 02:45 (UTC)

Now you are just being a condescending jerk. Let's be honest you didn't give me specific instructions because you didn't know how to report the particular problem. Otherwise you wouldn't have been talking on IRC about it to someone else to try to decipher what to do. I appreciate that you tried to help but I do not appreciate your dishonesty and rudeness.ScifiterX 1 July 2005 02:50 (UTC)

As far as having the intelligence to go through the options myself, so far everything you have suggested I had already done BEFORE you suggested it. And I explained that I did it and then you told me to do what I had already done. But there were several other variables regarding how to report the bug and it still isn't clear if the messages I left were done correctly.ScifiterX 1 July 2005 03:13 (UTC)
If I'm "being a condesending jerk", it's because of your tone on my talk page. Just look at the tone of comment I excerpted above. You really don't see anything wrong with it?
No I don't. I appreciate that you tried to help. I especially appreciate that you went through the trouble of talking to developer on IRC. I didn't appreciate it when you said the problem didn't exist before you really looked into it. I didn't appreciate when you told me to go to a link that I had already explained I had been at.ScifiterX 1 July 2005 03:13 (UTC)
And, for your information, I went on IRC just for confirmation that the problem existed, and one of the developers was there, copied the template code to a test wiki, and found it worked fine, thus it was most likely a problem in monobook.css (the default Style Sheet template for Wikipedia) that caused it. I don't know if the #wikipedia channel is logged or not, but if it is, go check if you don't believe me. - SoM 1 July 2005 03:04 (UTC)

What do you mean #wikipedia channel is logged or not? It seems to me that you are suggesting that someone altered a template that is used in Wikipedia. However, I am not familiar with the jargon you are using or how to go about looking into something based on terms that are not defined to me.ScifiterX 1 July 2005 03:21 (UTC)

The lines were a problem in the MediaWiki monobook.css, a problem which I fixed. To clarify: someone else added a line to the stylesheet which broke the interaction between the infoboxes and header lines in Internet Explorer. —Lowellian (talk) July 1, 2005 22:03 (UTC)
