[edit] Thanks to everyone!

Rather than spamming everyone's talk pages with thank you messages, I'd like to note my appreciation for everyone who commented on my recently successful Request for adminship. I'm humbled to have received an overwhelmingly positive response from my colleagues. Thanks to User:Merope for a wonderful nomination. Please be patient as I learn the ropes of adminship, and don't hesitate to contact me with questions, comments, concerns, or advice. Thanks!Scientizzle 21:31, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The brunt of adolescent angst

Thanks for that revert. By his lights I am indeed lame. Ah to be thirteen (or whatever) again.--Fuhghettaboutit 00:25, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Boy, that was quite the tempest. For a good time, check out the deleted page Fuhghettaboutit. — Scientizzle 00:29, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
LOL. Apparently my talk page now redirects to "IAMLAME". Just go to my userpage.--Fuhghettaboutit 00:31, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please Reinstate the Bran.B article - It has hip hop historical significance.

The Bran.b article met all the criteria for remaining a relevent page. It is an important part of Rhode Island music history. Request procedure for reinstatment. Also please provide info as to why deletion occured. Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stevensb3284 (talkcontribs) 20:29, 2 May 2007 (UTC).

I will reinstate Bran.B and put it up for deletion as it only sources a MySpace page...it does make assertions that arguably made it improper for speedy deletion based on the criteria for speedy deletion. Unless better sources are found, it will fail AfD. — Scientizzle 23:21, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] How to create a new article when there is a disambiguation page...

I want to add a full article on what a "Wheal" is in the sense of the dermatologic finding. However, how do I create this new artciel when there is a disambiguation page for the word already? Thanks in advance! Kilbad 03:13, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

I assume the dermatologic finding of which you speak is the last of the bullet points on the page? I think the easiest solution would be to move the page Wheal to Wheal (disambiguation) and then fill the former with your article. Then, simply add {{otheruses}} to the top to point to the disambig page...Let me know if you need help. — Scientizzle 15:03, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I have added another link - hopefully more legitimizing the Bran.B page

Hola, I have added another link - hopefully more legitimizing the Bran.B page. It is from the 2 Skinnee J's official website which under a "timeline" thumbnail discusses Bran.B as well as his band Thrift Unit as claimed in the Bran.B article.

Much of this article is from first hand accounts...when trying to establish the Bran.B page as legitimate historical content, please understand that wikipedia will be one of the first real sources in print for other future citations...another words I am trying to estabablish this article beginning here.

Please take this into consideration before deleting it. Although only a small sector on the national scale, to the hip hop heads of Rhode Island, Bran.B is important and deserves at least this much recognition.

Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stevensb3284 (talkcontribs) 10:22, 3 May 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Made more corrections to Bran.B

Scientizzle, (for shizzle) Please be aware that I have made more corrections to the Bran.B article including yet another link referencing the Wetlands (see Thrift Unit)....

I am really trying to prevent this from falling victem to deletion.

Please review and offer any recommendations if you vcan or have time. This is important to me.

Thanks —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stevensb3284 (talkcontribs) 14:47, 3 May 2007 (UTC).

I've looked over your changes to Bran.B & your additions don't really help. I found no significant mention of Bran.B on either of the two new "sources".
Your approach here is wrong. Wikipedia is not an advertising service, it's an encyclopedia. We don't make things notable, we only report what already is. Therefore, trying to establish an article based on unpublished, first-hand reports in an attempt to create notability is a violation of several Wikipedia policies & guidelines, including Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, Wikipedia:Reliable sources, Wikipedia:Verifiability & Wikipedia:Notability (music). — Scientizzle 15:17, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sigma Chi

Thank you for blocking that Kyle Frankini or whoever. I was scared it would be a while before an administator came by. Acidskater 15:22, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

No problem...good work on the warnings & WP:AIV report. — Scientizzle 15:23, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Retort to Bran.B

While Bran.B is not mentioned per se', the names of his bands are... Thrift Unit is mentioned in both examples. I do not consider this a type of advertisement. All of this individuals music is in fact published thru the Blind Science label. I do not understand this absolute assault committed by wikipedia on this article. Thanks for your time.

[edit] Your recent edits

Hi there! I know you're a new admin, but it's best not to use the rollback function for non-vandalism reverts (see here for your mistake). You might want to check out WP:ADMIN#Reverting to brush up on this particular area. The whole page is a great "how-to" of sorts for admins, so give it a look! Cheers gaillimhConas tá tú? 22:08, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Hey, sorry about that. It was, in fact, an honest mistake--I went to press the undo button and revert your edit (clearly stating that I didn't understand why you were deleting an entire discussion without a clear explanation), but I accidentally hit the rollback. In any case, no malice was intended, and the result was almost the same. Thanks for the note. — Scientizzle 23:16, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
No worries, mate. It was no big deal, but I just thought I'd drop you a line in case you were simply unawares of how/when to use the rollback button. As an aside, I accidentally deleted the main page on ga.wiki after being confused about a particular word choice, so I can say with confidence that you are doing a much better job here than I was when I first started there, hehe. Cheers gaillimhConas tá tú? 20:17, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
How very rogue-ish to delete the main page! Thanks for the encouragement. I'll be sure to pay better attention to which buttons I click... :) — Scientizzle 20:26, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: RM trolling on Talk:Decomposition

I don't think that was trolling.Invisible Noise 22:02, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

That user was trolling on everything else, hence the block. In any case, it wasn't a question for the talk page as it likely would have not helped improve the article... — Scientizzle 22:30, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Question

I was the user who reported Matt747 at AIV. I noticed that you indefinitely blocked him, but you did not put a blocked user template on his page. Just curious as to why not. I like to understand these things so I will know what to do as I hope to become an admin someday. J0lt C0la 22:07, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, frankly, I should have put a {{uw-block3}} on Matt747 (talk · contribs)'s talk page (and have done so now). I didn't because a real-life event occured that required my attention. Sometimes I just plain forget, too. But it's good form to add the template. — Scientizzle 22:13, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
That's ok, I was just wondering. I get cut off from putting templates on pages sometimes, like when I'm editing before school and the bell rings, or when this really old computer crashes. By the way, you might want to consider archiving your talk page. I edit from a dial-up connection and it takes a really long time for it to load. Have a good day! J0lt C0la 22:20, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
You're right...it's about time to archive. Thanks! — Scientizzle 22:28, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Relisting AfDs

Hi, when you relist an AfD, you need to remove it from the page on which it is already listed as well as adding it to the current day's page. WjBscribe 23:49, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Shoot. Sorry. Shant happen again. — Scientizzle 23:50, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thank ya much

The documentation on deletion is a bit confusing. It's kinda like reading the help pages on the IRS website... Gotta love a help page that needs a help page! [edit] Mustard-H

You have claimed to delete my article "again". However, I only wrote it once.

I do not appreciate these attacks from those who wish to supress public access to information. You have probably created articles that I would consider "worthless and not notable" information, but what gives you the right to declare that of an article I post? Does more information hurt anymone? Does it? Or is Wikipedia only here to be a carbon copy of everything on Answers.com? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Soupisgoodfooood (talkcontribs) 15:37, 11 May 2007 (UTC).

It was previously deleted & then restored by administrator Fang Aili (talk · contribs). I deleted it after that. Your arguments above are all puffery--there was no information within that article that met the basic guidelines for Wikipedia articles. You're welcome to try again, but unless you can demonstrate some notability & provide some sources, it will be deleted again (if not by me then by another administrator). I made no attacks. If you find yourself frustrated with Wikipedia's continues suppression of unsourced articles about non-notable people, consider starting a geocities page or something... — Scientizzle 15:44, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Sleepy Hollow, Oregon

Greetings from WPOR. I was just looking to assess the above article as part of our new assessment program, but as you will see it is only a talk page. I was hoping with your admin powers you could see if there used to be an article that had been AFD but the talk page didn't? Thanks for any insight. Aboutmovies 15:58, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

Hi there. Can you explain your comment on the AIAV page: "level 3 warning given 20 minutes after last vandalism..." ? Is there a time window for warning and/or reporting vandals? --Janus Shadowsong | contribs 17:15, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi there! Thanks for the quick response. I would like to point out, however, that the talk page warning was given yesterday on the 22nd, but the most recent vandalism occurred today, which is when I reported him.
I understand the distinction between preventative vs punitive blocking, but any time I see a page filled with warnings and last warnings, it seems a little absurd to continue to give the benefit of the doubt, especially when it does not seem to be a shared IP.
I am still relatively new to WP, however, and while there is a deep-seated indignation in me at the vandalism that occurs here, I will defer to your judgment. --Janus Shadowsong | contribs 17:49, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Or is this trivial and should I go worry about something else? Thanks! Katr67 18:35, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I am Milan Tair (Milantex on wiki) and I have one question about something that you might help me with!

Namely, one article created (not finished entirely) by me was deleted by you in suspicion of being advertising. Now, the thing is that I have never actually written an article the way that the encyclopedia needs it written. For this I need help!

I would like to write two articles.

1st is about a language project (one of a kind) that I have been working on one whole year and have finished a month ago, which has been reviewed and marked as excellent by two linguists from my school and from the university for language learning in Belgrade. The language has it's own writing scripts (two of them) and the grammar is totally new and different from any language that they have ever seen. I have been working on making it phonetically and not semantically and logically adaptive to humans, but speakable, readable, writable and real time understandable. I want to make an article about it as well and to put it in the list of other fictional (made/created) languages that exist on Wikipedia. I hope that this is not against the rules.

2nd is the OS that I have made as a school project. Many people have put their OS's on Wikipedia and there they are. MenuetOS, MiniX OS and others are all small projects of non commercial OS's that are NOT used like Linux, Mac or Windows, but are still there. Why would I be banned from doing so as well when the OS is configurable, editable and programmable as well as those are?

And 3rd is about the maker of those two! Myself! I would like to write just a bit about who made the language and the OS just like Tolkien and others; and Linus have their profiles. Doing something that I do not gain profit from and have made solely open for the public would ensure that I may get a place in Wiki as well ans many others who have made their own articles about their own stuff (and I do not want to have it made as an advert) since it IS NOT available on the net and no other external links would be placed there! That is my point!

I would like to hear from you on this request and would also ask for your help about this. I mean, in the correct formulation of the sentences and the whole paragraphs (without going off topic in some) and things like that.

Regards, Milantex.

[edit] Please reinstate the viralradio article

viral radio is signifigant to the younger metal comunity, due to the fact that it provides exposure for unsigned bands, of that genre, from throughout the united states. Also, under the music notability article it states that "Failing to satisfy the notability guidelines is not a criterion for speedy deletion."

if you could please provide me with more specific information as to why exactly you felt the article was eligible for speedy deletion, I would be greatly appreciative.

Digitalxrefugee 03:31, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you very much for reinstating the article, I haven't had a chance to edit it, but I will hopefully be doing so tonight when I get home from work. hopefully my changes will be enough to keep this article from failing its articles for deletion check. If not, I completely understand, and again I thank you for the opertunity to improve upon it. Digitalxrefugee 06:59, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: His Holiness Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi

Dear Sir,

I have added the article on Wikipedia because in my view the Wikipedia should have an article on world famous spiritual personality His Holiness Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi. I am still working on this article as this article is not complete yet, I am trying my level best to make it as an appropriate article for Wikipedia but it will take some time as you all can see that developments are coming in for this article and I am sure that once when this article is completed you will surely find it a source of information about His Holiness Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi.

Meanwhile, may I request the administration of Wikipedia to kindly remove this article from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, so that I could work with concentration.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Please be informed that His Holiness Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi was never arrested under any charges. Therefore, May I request you to kindly correct this?

[edit] Illogical Behaviour

Dear,

I am unable to understand your double standard policy. In the article of Gohar Shahi, you have mentioned that Gohar Shahi was arrested in a murder case, which is contrary to facts, he was never ever arrested under any charge. Moreover, when you are writing that the teaching of Shahi were condemn by Muslim Scholars, you should also mention that what was his teaching which were opposed by Muslim. What were the reasons that he was given life-term thrice?

I think either you should take necessary action to make this article as an appropriate source of information on Gohar Shahi or let others do.

Regards,

[edit] Julie and Eric Slick

It's interesting that the Adrian Belew Trio, a band that contains one notable and two "notable" people was speedy deleted while the subject articles were not. I know this is a WP:WAX argument, but I think yours was also a WP:NOTINHERITED one. I don't see "plays in a band with a notable person" under WP:NMG (actually, point 6 seems to justify keeping the Trio instead). I realize these aren't absolute rules, but I don't think Eric and Julie satisfy the general intent of those guidelines. I'm not going to war to get these removed, but keeping Julie and Eric seems a little inconsistent. Hoof Hearted 14:12, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

I said merely that touring with Adrian Belew is a reasonable assertion of notability, which means the articles no longer meet speedy deletion criteria--feel free to take the articles to AfD, however. Different admins have different thresholds when applying CSD A7 deletions; I may have been more conservative than Naconkantari (talk · contribs). In fact, I think that admin may have overstepped, since the content of that article clearly stated "the trio toured throughout the East, South, & Western United States" and included the aforementioned notable artist. Sounds like an assertion of notability to me. Surviving AfD, however, would be a different matter & would be inclined to delete without sources. — Scientizzle 15:10, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] External Link For Ace Frehley

The link that was added to SpaceAceOnline, was added because it is the only website out there that has up to date news on Ace Frehley and we have received many e-mails suggesting that we add it here on his wiki page to reach more of Ace's fans, by other fans of Ace. The link to this site is also found on Charley Frehley's (Ace's brother) official website thebridgeband.com , as well as on Eddie Trunk and Anton Figs official websites. This is the closest thing Ace has to an official site, it is a very informative, accurate and well laid out site and should be listed on his wikipedia page. [edit] Comments

Scientizzle -- thanks for the tip.

In other news, I see someone just removed the deletion notice from the soc.history.what-if page, apparently under the impression that it had been resolved long ago.

Sigh.

-- I do think SHWI is noteworthy, because it was the nursery and hothouse for amateur discussion of alternate history. There are now a couple of dozen alternate history sites, of widely varying quality; all trace their ancestry back to SHWI.

That said, if the page is deleted, so be it. Like most Usenet NGs, SHWI suffers from trolls, flamers, cranks and autistics. A couple of them found the SHWI page recently and have been editing it to fit their particular obsessions. Keeping up with them may be more trouble than it's worth.

You're obviously a busy guy, but if you have a moment, could you (1) restore the deletion notice (I would do this, but I don't yet know how), and (2) consider locking the page, perhaps after reverting it to some earlier version? I'd nominate the version of 11:57 today, which was my own cleanup after the next-to-last troll; obviously I'm biased, but judge for yourself.

Anyway, thanks for your help. Baby steps...

cheers,

Doug M.

[edit] D'oh

Forgot to sign that last. _Small_ baby steps.

Doug M.Vormuir 17:36, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Wow. I didn't realize I was stepping into a low-level content war as well... I've restored the AfD notice and given proper warning to the IP address that removed it. It's a bummer that a site you like has been overrun by trollish elements. If this group is truly notable, perhaps there are ways to assert it that haven't been tried? Does any of the published literature on alternate histories cite or talk about the group at all? Have there been any news or magazine articles? Nationl conventions?
As for protecting the page, I could do that, but it risks locking the page into the "wrong version". I'll give it a closer look. — Scientizzle 17:55, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, Usenet, you know? Trolls come with the territory.

SHWI has an informal ban on political discussions, enforced only by scolding, public opinion and killfiling. One poster -- "aspqrz" here -- simply can't abide this: he takes it as a personal affront that anyone would "restrict his freedom" in ths manner. He's carried his lonely crusade here to wikipedia. Hence the batch of edits dealing with the "Ban on Politics".

As to notability: published literature, no. (When does published literature cite Usenet? It must have happened, but it's pretty rare.) There have been gatherings, but they're informal, not rising to the level of conventions. As noted, most of the cites are from SHWI's children, the various alternate history websites.

It's evening where I am, and I'm going out of town for a long weekend. Give me a couple of days to think on this. And perhaps ask the NG itself, since I'm not the font of all knowledge...

Thanks again for your help!

cheers,

[edit] User:Leah01

User:Leah01 used a series of sock puppets to edit the Daniel Rodriguez article, including, most recently User:Flash88 who is currently banned permanently by User:MrDarcy, User:Operadog banned permanently by MrDarcy,[1] User:Broadwaydad an account which Leah01 simply agreed to MrDarcy to stop editing from, along from the rest. Oh, here's MrDarcy's original check user request.[2] This editor is very nasty, and was extremely hostile to me (although I bite back hard, as you know), User:Jeffpw, who was nothing but patient, User:Acalamari, and MrDarcy, who was repeatedly way too kind (as was his usual fault, Wikipedia being the much poorer without him). The edits are precisely the same extensive series of edits to add a few lines of text, to include every public appearance by Rodriguez ever made to make the article a resume or list without quality, and generally poorly spelled, and, from extensive checking done by Acalamari, myself, and mostly JeffPW, often inaccurate.[3] and using the exact same reference style for most of the sock puppets that I checked.[4] Jeffpw worked his ass off on this article (as did Acalamari, MrDarcy, ChrisGriswold, and I briefly) while Leah01 maliciously attacked everyone who came near the article. Look at the article that we wound up with, it's one of the best small biographies on Wikipedia, and doesn't deserve to be destroyed by Leah01 any more. He/she has promised repeatedly to stop editing Wikipedia, but just can't keep his/her word.

[edit] My deleted page

A really old page that I apparently created, Treacherous computing, has been speedy-deleted as an attack page. Whilst the term is an attach on the Trusted Computing idea, it isn't a Wikipedia attack page but documentation of a criticism of TC from a well-respected writer on the subject of freedom and trust, Richard Stallman, author of the GPL. As such I feel that speedy deletion was in this case not correct. It may be that the page that I created was short and not very well-written and may have been mistaken for my own rant, but it in fact referred to someone else's rant who is widely respected in the free software community. — PhilHibbs | talk 14:40, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

I've restored the redirect. The term is, indeed, in the article and makes my speedy rather invalid. Sorry for the mistake. — Scientizzle 15:26, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion

Dear Admin! First: It would be nice and polite if you had a habbit to inform the author about the deletion of his/her article on a talk page. You could avoid angry comments and ease a little bit the pain. Second: Your explanation about the deletion decision is against the Wikipedia policy that says: "This is not a majority voting!" Compare with yours:"Repeated input from IP addresses hailing from the same general region were discounted, so there is a clear consensus that this article doesn't meet community standards". What are you going to do about it?! Third: my advice for you: Go for quality and not for quantity! Take some time to investigate the deletion nomination carefully. Waiting for your answer on my talk page please. Greetings. --LidiaFourdraine 13:40, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Hello! When I said "go for quality", then I mean to investigate the subject of the article, try to collect some information, learn something about it in order to create your own meaning as a judge (=admin taking the deletion decision) and don`t depend only on comments from other people. The opposite votes were not so independent either. I don`t know anybody on EN-Wiki to ask secretly to take part in the discussion.
Maybe I will write this particular article again carefully taking all the critical remarks into consideration. Surely I won`t start the reviewing of the deletion procedure because it is much too stressful and it is not something useful. I can see some weak points of my article now.
I still think it is a good idea to inform a Wikipedian on his or her talk page when his or her article is deleted. It can be a standard text with a sentence or two with explanation considering the particular case. It will save you and your colleagues - admins some trouble and nasty comments, because I don`t think you like such comments and I also think that people writing vulgar things are desperate and feel treated without respect. Blocking them only make them more angry and pushes them away from Wikipedia. Help to improve the article would be better. Thanks for your answer. Greetings.--LidiaFourdraine 07:46, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fraternity Sigma Kappa Alpha

hello Scientizzle, A few weeks ago I created a page for my fraternity at the Univeristy of Redlands, which was speedily deleted due to notability. I made some changes to the article so it is purely descriptive, as requested by editor "merope" however before I re-post the add, I want to ask whether or not this counts as notable. This fraternity is young, and local, meaning there is no national branch, as such we have not graduated any senators or congressman, however we were originally founded by WWII veteran in 1947, and since the fraternity's re-charting in 1986 we currently have 2 veteran alumni, and 2 alumni currently serving. One of the alumni currently serving in Iraq is in the elite army Airborne rangers and I have found one citation for that.

[5]

Would posting this information be sufficient in fulfilling the notability to at least keep the Sigma Kappa Alpha page up as a partial page? I thank you for your time and consideration

HI I wrote the Corinna Fugate article and it certainly is NOT a hate page, and the photo I have explicit permission to use here. It is not a violation of any copyright.

And in my artcile I was positive and quoted my sources, from different papers.

There is no good reason to delete it.

There are hate sites about Corinna Fugate out now and this needs to stay up because it tells her story.

I identify with her and want to help her.

So please do not delete my article I made for her.

[edit] Citty

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Citty, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Re: Question...

Yeah, considering I have about a million edits, there have been a couple people who have mentioned this to me... I'm on the fence about it. I have mixed feelings about admins in general and I don't really find I need the tools all that often, and one of the people who said I would definitely pass an Rfa also said it would be a shame if my admin duties took away from all my work on Oregon. Also, I think I'm far too sensitive to a) have my actions picked apart at the RfA and b) if I passed, put up with the additional flak I would get from people who don't like having to follow rules. I'm thinking about putting up a second editor review with links to every single negative interaction I've had with folks on here, just to see what else I could have done. I'm treading very carefully right now because I seem to have really upset a couple of people--probably par for the course considering how much I edit, but it still bothers me. Thanks for mentioning it though, I'll be sure to look you up if I decide to go for it! Katr67 19:17, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair enough. It's true that if one picks up too much of the sysop load, other contributions dip. I'm trying to pull away from that myself & get back to all the science articles that have gone neglected...The RfA process is stressful (though passing is quite validating). It's kind of like getting your driver's license: it's a bit nerve-wracking, but passing it means your mom won't have to drive you around any more in that ugly minivan. :) (To make the analogy more complete...driver's ed is your contributions; the written test is your answers to the standard questions; the driving test is the answers to the questions that pop up over the course of the RfA's week; and driving by yourself means no more speedy deletion tags or WP:AIV/WP:RM/WP:RFPP requests. Yeah, that's a decent analogy.)
If you feel like going for it, I'll be happy to write up a (co-?)nomination (and offer help on your answers to the standard questions). Feel free to contact me here or via email if you want to discuss any of your concerns. And I'll be happy to participate in any future editor review. — Scientizzle 19:52, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Suffice to say that this article is a blatent advertisement by GlaxoSmithKline for Paxil and Paxil CR with so many falsehoods and outright lies (especially the "efficacy" and "trial" results) that I feel it is an immediate danger to the public welfare and should be challenged immediately. This is supposed to be an article about the generic chemical paroxetine. Not an advertising platform for GSK to persuade people to "Eat more Paxil" (an internal GSK document quote). So please don't take offense if my demeanor seemed a bit, oh, I don't know... combative? I can really be a pain in the ass sometimes <grin>. — Badgerbear 11:05, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi there Scientizzle

Yes, there's hypochondria and then there's the true living Hell of paroxetine withdrawal. I was unfortunate to have been prescribed this dangerous yet highly profitable drug for five years. Four of those being because I couldn't get off of it. I'm curious as to how many "anecdotal" reports of the exact same symptoms equal a hint of truth? 10,000? One million? A high percentage of these people trying to discontinue their use of Paxil (or other SSRI/SNRI drugs) are suffering just as I did and need answers to what they are going through. "Brain zaps" are as definitively real as the ground beneath your feet. Along with the myriad of other debilitating withdrawal symptoms these drugs serve up. That is why the Brain zaps article MUST remain, be improved and properly documented (somehow) to offer people non-biased and factual information. On that note; due to a recent class-action litigation concerning withdrawal reactions, GSK was forced to release "sealed" internal documents and it turns out, of course, they knew all of these withdrawal symptoms (including "electric shock sensations") were real and demonstrable before they ever released the drug to the public. Please go to Google Images and type in "paxil money bag" then click the first image shown. Observe the "Confidential Pursuant to Protective Order" note on the side of the graphic. That will give you an idea. The article below the graphic is interesting as well. Truthful if not ironic. I do have some background in molecular biology myself so my views are not only from a "Paxil victim" POV but also as an informed academic like yourself. P.S. I have already added a "Brain zaps and Electric shock sensations" section to the SSRI discontinuation syndrome article. P.P.S. Please also see my entry on Withdrawal vs Discontinuation in the discussion area of Brain zaps. My entry begins with: Firestorm? —Badgerbear 13:18, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

I realize my writings here appear terribly biased and POV however if you would like to truly delve into this subject, may I suggest viewing the recent BBC Panorama documentary: The Secrets of Seroxat. Seroxat being the British trade name for Paxil. The program explains how GSK manipulated trial data to get the drug approved despite lackluster efficacy results and how any negative data collected (such as suicidal ideation) was sealed and hidden from governmental and public access. This is why I am so concerned about the Paroxetine article. It states that Paxil performed significantly and consistently better than placebo in GSK trials. Not only are these statements a blatent LIE, I am very concerned it may cause the lay-person reading it to run off to their doctor and start popping these pills without knowing the truth and what they'll be getting themselves into. — Badgerbear 00:48, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mindman1 (talk · contribs)

I notice that you have indefinitely blocked User:Mindman1. Looking back through his contributions I can only see one example of vandalism (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Son_of_a_Witch&diff=prev&oldid=146887053) which has been remarked upon on the user's talk page. Personnally, I would favour a more hard-line apporach than what is detailed at Wikipedia:Vandalism, but policy is policy. Even with my hard-line views, I would not go so far as to permanently block an editor for one instance of vandalism, especially when he has responded to the note on his talk page positively. Whilst I would agree that adding "I concur" to lots of discussions is unusual, it is certainly not vandalism; if anything it indicates a willingness to engage in discussion (a good thing). I would ask you to consider whether this block is in line with Wikipedia:Blocking policy as I don't see any evidence of "persistent vandalism". In your edit summary for the block you stated that "I'm sure others will concur that this account's only purpose is disruption". I have to say that I do not concur as the vast majority of this user's contributions are not disruptive (just a little odd). It might be that Mindman1 can be persuaded to engage in constructive editing. However if he engages in persistent vandalism then he certainly should be blocked.Greenshed 15:43, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

In my opinion, "the repeated "I concur"s were disruptive because they were clearly out-of-context from an uninvolved party scattered in a seemingly random manner.
"I concur" added over two dozen times + misleading edits to User:TJ Spike/User talk:TJ Spike + blatant article vandalism = no useful edits with clear familiarity of Wikipedia topography & culture (alluding to WP:BITE in 1st edit & editing 5 RfAs) = an account meant for disruption by someone who knows how to do so. I won't unblock, as I'm confident in my reasoning and the user him/herself has not even bothered with {{unblock}}. Feel free to bring it up at WP:ANI if you are still not convinced. — Scientizzle 16:18, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. Although, I accept the "clear familiarity" point, my view is that this might be "account meant for disruption by someone who knows how to do so" but it also might be an account made by a rather random individual who would go on to make useful edits. I don't feel strongly enough about it go to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents but I just hope that a potential editor has not been driven away. Anyway, best regards, Greenshed 17:00, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MGS4 edits

hello, i saw your frequent overhaul on MGS4 after 88.111.131.200 bastardized everything. hey, can you do something about that edit war on Debi Mae West-as-Meryl as well? Mc razza's last 20 or so edits on that page was erasing that bit within minutes after somebody else posted it. It would be better if the entire article was locked out until more information came available, as some alleged factoids about it coming to the Xbox 360 have been cropping up every now and then...even in the talk pages, despite Hitamaru and Hyperspacey's points to the contrary. Thanks for any help you can give.Eaglestorm 02:01, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: His Holiness Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi - Spiritual Research & Explorations

The research and teaching of His Holiness Sayyedna Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi are highly valueable in spiritualism. He worked for the International religious peace and harmony and guided people towards Divine Love of God without any discrimination. The Edition of above section was added just to provide a picture of his work in spiritualism and I am keen to do that. Can you please help me........

--سگِ گوھرشاہی 05:52, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

سگِ گوھرشاہی though Scientizzle would be in better position to reply, but once again if you can come up with a non-promotional article on him which has cited references I am sure none will have any issues. UJMi 05:52, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Completely true. I am convinced that this subject is worthy of a Wikipedia article. I remain unconvinced that repeating religious propaganda verbatim is an acceptable way to do so. — Scientizzle 14:40, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dark Alex

I am new to wikipedia but understand you deleted an article on Dark Alex, claiming he was not of sufficient significance. This clause in wikipedia's policy is intended to stop people creating pages for people that are not famous. Googling "Dark Alex" yields 412000 pages including Digg, BBC News and Engadget. Literally thousands of people have downloaded Dark Alex's software. Please could you reinstate Dark Alex's page. If this is done, I intend to review the content and add anything I think is missing. If you refuse or are unable to reinstate the page, is there anything to stop me writing my own biography of Dark Alex? Skip1337 16:45, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

I deleted Dark alex on July 3 and there's nothing there that's salvagable for any article, just some guy going "Will be greatly missed by many PSP owners around the globe." Dark Alex has been deleted 3 times by admins other than myself. These deletions were perfectly reasonable: one version was just like the one I deleted (no useful content) and twice it was a pure copyright violation (cut and paste of another site).
As such, I won't restore any article. You are free to create a new bio, but take care to follow Wikipedia's policies of WP:NPOV, WP:V & WP:OR, and its guidelines of WP:BIO & WP:RS. — Scientizzle 18:07, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your guidance in this matter. I will now set about researching for the new article. Skip1337 20:11, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Indole-3-carbinol

Hello, Scientizzle - I've just made significant contributions to the Indole-3-carbinol article. It was pretty sparse before. While I'm a scientist and engineer, and (almost) and expert in nutrition, cellular biology is not my strong suit. If you would, please read the sections I've added (starting with the second sentence, "Controlled studies have been performed ..." and ending in "The G1 phase is marked by synthesis...", plus the footnotes; and particularly the 2nd para.) and make any corrections, if they are needed. Thanks! -- Gekritzl 21:56, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] delete

why did you delete my page—The preceding unsigned comment was added by ShavU (talkcontribs).

Because it clearly met the criteria for speedy deletion, namely it was an article on web content that failed to assert any importance or significance. — Scientizzle 21:37, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dorothy James

I'd left a note on the article talk page for the author regarding copyright permissions etc. Would it be possible for you to grab that and paste it to User talk:Shawnjames333? This guy is a family member who badly needs some clue infusion, especially of the WP:NOT variety, but as he was acting in good faith, I want to be sure he gets the message. Thanks. --Finngall talk 23:34, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion question

Hi! Sorry if I goofed but I'm really not sure why that is blatant advertising - that wasn't my objective! I was only able to add a little bit of info and because I was a little worried that it would be construed as an ad, I checked other CMS wiki pages and saw the same sort of info on their sites. Anyway, I'm afraid I'm worse than a noobie! If you could let me know I'll do it differently. Thanks!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Julieriley (talkcontribs).

You must be referring to OpenEdit CMS. I'll check it out & get back to you. — Scientizzle 19:05, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

204.9.212.32 (talk • contribs • deleted contribs • WHOIS • RDNS • trace • RBLs • block user • block log) (who was blocked for 7 hours following your report) received a final warning 5 days ago, which I don't think merits a block for what's clearly a test edit. I would have declined the block request based on that information--an IP may represent completely different persons in a matter of minutes or hours, let alone days. A {{test1}} may have been more appropriate. Just my $0.02... — Scientizzle 19:42, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

You're absolutely right, my bad. I misread the date - a collateral victim of my intense vandal hunting today. Sorry. --Targeman 20:04, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion of my page

Ok, I'm not really bothered at the fact you deleted it. However, it was my first time and I do have scientific evidence to support all the information I listed. The main thing is I wasn't finished and because it was my first edit I was just seeing if the format was clear when I hit save, rather then preview. I was listing students who are known across the country and have won prestigous awards, I didn't think that would be considered vandalism but obviously you thought otherwise. I had website links to follow my story and pictures of them receiving awards (some in other countries) and examples of their work that got them recognition.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Agent81 (talkcontribs).

I deleted Jeremy Gilmore not because it was vandalism, but because it clearly met the criteria for speedy deletion as a biographical article that lacked any assertion of encyclopedic notability. Check out WP:BIO, the notability guideline for biographical articles. — Scientizzle 20:59, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Brotherhood of Pwnage"

hi, I'm a friend of the person who started the article about the "Brotherhood of Pwnage", and I'm in fact the leader of the clan. We play some online multiplayer games such as the ever famous counter-strike.

my friend told me that the article was deleted almost as soon as it was created. I checked the reasons and we are currently constructing a better article which will be pasted fully instead of edited partly. I just wanted to check that it would not be deleted again or something. We are being serious this time and therefore random funny remarks from the old article will not be included.

thanks—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.1.172.98 (talk • contribs).

Brotherhood of Pwnage clearly met the criteria for speedy deletion. I'm skeptical that any further attempt with remotely similar content is of encyclopedic interest. [edit] WPOR Collaboration of the Week

Greetings WPOR member, we are starting a weekly collaboration project where we will announce two articles that are currently stubs that we hope to work together to improve. No pressure to help, but if you would like to, just stop by one of the articles and see if you can find information to expand the article with, copy edit what is there, help with formatting, or add some images. This week’s articles are: Alis volat propriis and Fusitriton oregonensis. Aboutmovies 22:28, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mindspace

Mindspace isn't spam is it? I almost tagged it as such but stopped myself. Given the username I did place a coi tag on it, but other than that is the article okay? -WarthogDemon 23:52, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

She doesn't seem to like the coi and advert tags . . . shall I replace them if she removes them, and if so what message do I leave her on her talk page? -WarthogDemon 00:02, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps if the tag removal persists, just a 15 minute block to get her to look at her page? I've seen other admins try that. -WarthogDemon 00:36, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] No Problem

I will not remove it again. I will let one of you Wikipedians handle the job for me.

My sincere and deepest apologies and I will let y'all do the job for me.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ericthebrainiac (talkcontribs).

[edit] Interim check.

Hi,

Thank you very much for the constructive, insightful feedback you provided on my talk page per my RFA. It is indeed greatly appreciated.

I have taken action, and followed through with much of what you have suggested:

  1. The AN/ANI pages are now on my watchlist;
  2. Increased participation at AFD and RFD;
  3. Joined WWF;
  4. Set up an editor review;
  5. Made UAA contributions;
  6. Created a few articles, including Mae West hold, Namdroling Monastery, and Tim Vega.

If it isn't too much trouble, could you please provide a critique of my responses to the RFA questions? Much of the feedback related to the questions were hardly informative, and I could use more of your quality analysis there.

(Not that I'm ready to re-apply, but just to make sure that I'm on the right track.)

Thanks again, and I look forward to your reply. --Aarktica 12:45, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Hello again. I left you the above note a week ago, and was wondering if you had any feedback to provide... --Aarktica 00:14, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
    • I got your message... just wanted to let you know that I look forward to your comments. --Aarktica 14:48, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Part Deux

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Rather grim analysis, but I will be sure to follow up on your suggestions.

First, I agree about the need to contribute more to articles; as such, I intend to spend the next three weeks focusing more on that area.

Second, I will be sure to curtail curt comments during deletion discussions. However, it is quite likely that there will be fewer inputs provided in that area; between focusing more on articles and doing research before participating in discussions, I suspect that contributions in that area will be quite limited.

Third, the UAA incident you referred to was most unfortunate; however I figured any activity that would lead to a block for honest mistakes is not worth the effort. Nevertheless, I concede the buried point you alluded to.

Finally, you mentioned compiling a list of accomplishments... I am rather leery of any appearance of pride. This seems to connote chest-thumping, and that leaves me rather cold. Does this make sense? I noticed that one of the RfA questions seems to encourage this. Why?

By the way, I would appreciate your thoughts on my responses during the RfA. Thanks again, --Aarktica 13:03, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

No big deal. If I appeared defensive in my previous remarks, that was unintentional. As mentioned earlier, your insightful analysis is greatly appreciated and is quite helpful for keeping everything in perspective. That said, I would like to know what you think of my responses to the RfA questions. Thanks again. --Aarktica 18:41, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
Hello. I would like to re-apply, and wanted to find out if the nomination offer is still available. --Aarktica 17:19, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for everything

Thank you very much for everything you did to help make my promotion a reality. If I am at least half as constructive as you have been around here, I think I would have done well. Your invaluable suggestions and recommendations were quite instrumental, and I appreciate all your help.

At the moment, I am going through the WP:NAS and intend to follow-up with your other suggestions as well. I will be sure to stop by if I need any further guidance.

Thanks again, and I hope to see you around. Cheers, --Aarktica 16:27, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

My pleasure. Best of luck--I'm sure you'll do well. — Scientizzle 16:30, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My page got deleted

I was starting a biographical page on the new author Natasha Larry and the page was deleted. Her book has received acclaim as Book of the Month, and I thought that having a page for her was important since she wrote the book.

[edit] Deletion: Stanford Harmonics

Dear Administrator,

My name is Frank (Tha-An) Lin and I am the Public Relations Officer of the a cappella group, the Stanford Harmonics. I am writing in regards to the page being deleted on August 14th, about a week ago. There does not seem to be any reason for this deletion, and so I would like to ask whether it was the uploaded album art that caused the deletion. Because being the person in charge of the Harmonics' web presence, I have been given the rights to post such pictures, even though I did not design the album.

However, it looks like there was debate over the "notability" of our group, which of course means we have to somehow prove our notability in ways other than being nominated for compilation CDs, being reviewed in RARB. If that is the reason for deletion, is there any way to get the page back so we can add in the required information? Anyways, I hope you had a good vacation, and can help sort out this problem.

Yours Truly, Frank —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cryptopath (talkcontribs) 18:14, August 20, 2007 (UTC).

Stanford Harmonics was deleted by me after I closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stanford Harmonics, which contained a clear consensus to delete. The consensus agreed that the claims in the article did not meet the inclusion criteria of the notability guideline, WP:MUSIC. I can restore the article into your userspace, at User:Cryptopath/Stanford Harmonics. There you can work on it to bring it up to Wikipedia standards. Familiarize yourself with the notability guideline as well as Wikipedia's policies on verifiability and neutral POV. You should also peruse Wikipedia:Conflict of interest—as someone who is charged with promoting the group, you should be aware of the stances that your fellow editors may take on your perceived conflict-of-interest & some of its consequences.
You might consider contacting Jairuscobb (talk · contribs), the only voice arguing to keep the article. As a a more seasoned Wikipedia editor (plus a Stanford student & major contributor to Stanford Mendicants), Jairuscobb may be willing and able to help you along.
If and when you bring the article up to par, it can be moved back into the Wikipedia main space. If the content has not significantly changed, however, it may be speedily deleted as reposted, previously-deleted material. Be sure that the content is improved and addresses all of the concerns from the deletion discussion, lest it be deleted again. — Scientizzle 18:41, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Hamsters

You recently left a original research maintenance tag on this article. Could you explain which section that you are referring to so that I can correct it? Thanks. WebHamster 19:05, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Additionally what are you doing redirecting all the band member pages back to the band article? They are all stubs awaiting information to allow them to be expanded. To get the information correct I am awaiting it direct from the band, they are busy musicians and it doesn't happen overnight. Your redirects are inappropriate. WebHamster 19:13, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

The bass player's page is not a one line article, in fact it covered quite pertinant points about Focal Dystonia that wasn't relevant to the band page, yet you still redirected that. Isn't a one line article waiting to be expanded the definition of a stud? I realise that the article needs work, for the time being I did enough to satisfy WP:MUSIC requirements. If in the meantime you do a quick google on "hamsters ZZ top hendrix" you will see that it's not something that is "original research" I get 23,900 hits, how many do you get? The problem also is that a lot of the references required are in dead tree media so not easily inserted into the article without breaching copyright. WebHamster 19:21, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for screwing up the formatting of the article with your unnecessary merge. Are you going to sort that out too or are you going to leave that to me? WebHamster 19:26, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

In between doing the merge and replying to your messages I have not yet had time to complete the formatting. But thanks for the snarky comment. — Scientizzle 19:29, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
My apologies, I was annoyed. I've reformatted it myself now. I've taken your comments onboard and will make efforts to improve the article. I'm still unsure how the information about the bassist's new album is original research though. It's a fact, it's not conjecture. The album is currently being remixed and mastered. Short of supplying a photo of the engineer at the desk I'm not sure how I can supply a reference. I didn't give a specific date of release as it hasn't been established yet. It's well known amongst Hamsters fans but again that isn't verifiable. It is pertinent to the article and I don't see what good leaving it out would do. So if you have any advice I'd be pleased to hear it. --WebHamster 21:06, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Rightio, done a work-up on it. I've removed the {{sources}} as I think I've covered all the necessary citations (with the exception of the bass players album. That hasn't been officially announced yet (it's an open secret :} ) so I won't be able to get a citation to remove the {{or}} tag yet. Thanks for you help. Like you say it's leading to a better article.--WebHamster 23:55, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

I understand that he has not done a whole lot in the acting career but I ask that you please not delete his page from wikipedia as he continues to be a model and icon for his home country of Trinidad and Tobago. Hello again WikiProject Oregon team members, its time for the next Collaboration of the Week. First a shout out to Sprkee for putting together some templates for this project. Now, in honor of Labor Day weekend and the outdoor nature of the activities that often accompany the three-day weekend, this week’s item is to de-redlink as many parks from the List of Oregon State Parks. Some may even by going to one of these places, a great opportunity to take a picture or two for an article. As always, participation is not required, though it is appreciated. [edit] Tiptoety

You're precisely correct - I saw the box on his user page after he didn't make an RFCU request properly, so I pretty much figured that he again didn't follow directions, considering had already dated the discussion start himself, answered the questions, added the box to his page, and basically did everything but actually put the thing on the page. I suppose I could have dropped him a note, but the box led me to believe he expected it was up. MSJapan 04:08, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Also, as far as the RFCU was concerned, there was nothing listed to check against, so I don't think MoP would be bothered anyhow. Tiptoety's assumption was that "Master of Puppets" meant said user admitted he ran a sockfarm. MSJapan 04:17, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi

Re the Atlantic jacknife clam

Far from being a foreign species, this species is common in and native to NW Europe, particularly in the Channel Islands and the South West of England, where they are known as razorfish or razorclams. In the Channel Islands, particularly in Jersey, they are traditionally caught on the beach at low tide, and cooked in garlic butter with white wine and parsley. [edit] ekpyrotek

First let me be the first to say thank you for making it so easy to message you. =) That's very considerate of you. Second, I understand where you are coming from talking about notability. Please check the link section and you will find where ekpyrotek is played daily on the radio for meditation.fm as for the background information you will also see link to the defcon.org website where it speaks of teli browns background. I can edit out the myspace links no problem if that is the issue.

I understand you are just trying to keep this place clean and I can respect that. I ask you please give me any advice if possible to keep this article apart of this site. Spam is not behind the motives of this article I promise you this. kind regards Alanscott81 17:29, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE:ekpyrotek

In all honesty, this is my only account on wikipedia. other than that, what would you suggest? Creating an article on teli brown and adding his music to his article? Teli Brown has made an impact on the world. thoughts? Kind Regards, Alanscott81 20:22, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

that was a mistake and was reverted back by me. I was merely trying to sign my name. I am here to support ekpyrotek. —Preceding unsigned comment added by R0t0r00t3r (talkcontribs) 21:01, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

I just wanted to say that I respect your guys decision. Also, I'm not a tree hugger. haha My beliefs are that people should respect each other instead of going to war over disputes. I believe people need to be an example of that in order to get things that way. I thought I should say that because of the treehugger and comet comment.

I know I have goals and I know I can reach them. I may not be there yet and you guys help point that out. One day I will do something important enough to make a big difference and who knows.. Maybe one day it would be you that writes the ekpyrotek article if I really do accomplish that which I foresee. Other than that I wish you well and thank you for taking the time to join the discussion. peace teli —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alanscott81 (talkcontribs) 05:59, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] sockpuppets

Greetings, am I allowed to remove what has been put on my talk page? I am not a puppet master nor plan on ever being one.. So I would like to remove it when I am able to. I just don't want to break any rules by removing it. Any suggestions? Thanks

[edit] Pharmacology Collaboration of the Week

Aspirin has been selected as this week's Pharmacology Collaboration of the Week! Please help us bring this article up to featured standards during the week. The goal is to nominate this at WP:FAC on September 10, 2007.

Also, please visitWP:RxCOTW to support other articles for the next COTW. Articles that have been nominated thus far include Doxorubicin, Paracetamol (in the lead with 4 support votes so far), Muscle relaxant, Ethanol, and Bufotenin.

In other news:

  • The Wikipedia:WikiProject Pharmacology main page has been updated and overhauled, to make it easier to find things, as well as to highlight other goals and announcements for the project.
  • Fvasconcellos notes that discussion is ongoing regarding the current wording of MEDMOS on including dosage information in drug articles. All input is welcome.

[edit] Hamsters edits

What's with the instructions and the reverting?

Dave Bronze named Andy Billups Ms Zsa Zsa Poltergeist because he thought he was an "old tart" and "a right old woman sometimes". This is why I used the wording I did. Are you going to second guess every edit I make on that page? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the point of an ecyclopaedia to give information that people perhaps don't know? And frankly a little humouur here and there is no bad thing. I have no idea where you got the "self-referential" idea from though. --WebHamster 01:07, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] September WPOR Collaboration of the Week

First off, great job to all WikiProject Oregon folks for last week’s List of Oregon State Parks work. We pounded out six new state park articles: Sarah Helmick, Bald Peak, Bob Straub, Sumpter Valley Gold Dredge, Tumalo, and Peter Skene Ogden. Plus numerous other edits to improve the existing articles. As a reward, we are introducing the COTW award {{WPOR COTW award}}, and this time it goes to User:Woodstein52 for starting three of the articles.

On to this week. We are back to the usual two Top importance Stubs: Sunstone and Oregon, My Oregon. Both are stub pluses, so it shouldn’t take much to upgrade them both. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts click here. Good day! Aboutmovies 22:36, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Old SALT vs New SALT

This is mostly an FYI to you as an admin who still uses the old, templated method for salting pages. That method of salting pages is depricated, and the template is now up for deletion. While things can still change, the current discussion definitely looks headed towards deletion. Assuming that this happens, you will no longer be able to salt pages with the old method, and will need to begin using the newer salting method that involves cascading protection on the title, and allows recreation to be blocked while still having no article at the name, leaving it as a red link. This new method of salting is centered at WP:PT, and the instructions for how to make it work are there as well. - TexasAndroid 13:07, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. Guess I'll have to get my butt in gear and start using the new way. Cheers, — Scientizzle 14:19, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Feeder

Just to let you know, it was decided in a discussion on the previous talk page of Feeder that Feeder (band) would be moved to the page; a disambiguation page would be used for the other terms. Of course in order to do this, the page Feeder had to first be deleted, hence the speedy-delete tag I placed on it. As long as that's ok, I'll be doing it again now. Thanks. Schcambo 20:13, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Just noticed you're an admin. You wouldn't be able to do it straight would you? Thanks. Schcambo 20:16, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the move.. Schcambo 16:33, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dan Carlin page

What do you think needs references? I can tell you that the assertions in the article are from Carlin's Common Sense show itself. Maybe it would be best to reply on the Dan Carlin article's talk page, as my IP address may change arbitrarily. 206.124.6.154 01:18, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WPOR Collaboration: 09172007

All righty WPOR ladies and gentleman, great job last week with our state song and gemstone. I have bumped them up to Start class. I haven’t looked at the contributions, so the COTW award will be later. This week’s articles are Darlene Hooley, by special request, and another Top stub, our very own state rock, the Thunderegg. Yes, apparently we have a state rock and state gemstone. No word on whether there is a state stone too. Hooley basically needs some sources to make it to the next level. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts click here. In the words of Beaver Joe, whoop! Aboutmovies 18:08, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Pharmacology Update

Here's a brief update in some of the recent developments of WikiProject Pharmacology!

  • Aspirin has just completed its two week run as the first Collaboration of the Week! Many thanks to those editors that contributed; the article got a lot of good work accomplished, and in particular, much work was done in fixing up the history section. It's still not quite "done" yet (is a wikipedia article really ever done?), but after two weeks I think it's more important to push onwards with the development of the new collaboration of the week program. I will be fixing up Aspirin in the next few days and possibly nominating it for either GA or FA status.
  • Please remember that Wikipedia is not a forum for discussing or dispensing medical advice amongst users. Specifically, talk pages of articles should only be used to discuss improving the actual article in question. To help alleviate this situation, the template {{talkheader}} may be added to the top of talk pages, reminding users of the purpose of such pages. Additionally, unsigned comments and comments by anonymous users that are inappropriate may be removed from talk pages without being considered vandalism.

[edit] Nice AfD closure

Nice AfD closure here. Summed the important points up nicely and put an end to the vitriol (just when it was getting interesting as well...). :-) Carcharoth 22:39, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks. It was going nowhere fast and the ranting needed to stop. — Scientizzle 22:51, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Seconded. I was inclined to opine delete, but the whole thing was a mess. Although, really it should have probably been closed as a "no-consensus", rather than an outright "keep". But it was your closure, so it's fine. Mahalo, Scientizzle. --Ali'i 13:09, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for reverting my userpage vandalism. It's really incredible to see what they do just for getting a warning! I remember once on User:The Fat Man Who Never Came Back, some guy put "u r a fat fuker i kill u bitch". Thanks, and happy editing! Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 22:31, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

No problem... — Scientizzle 22:31, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fall WPOR COTW

Welcome to autmun and the weekly COTW news. Great job to those who helped out with last week’s articles: Darlene Hooley & Thunderegg. Both made great improvements. This week, something a little different. With fall upon us, the photo ops are going to be harder to get, so we have a photo request fulfillment drive. Take a look at the requested pictures for Oregon category or the graphics subproject for what’s needed. Then go take a picture, or search online for a free picture to upload (US gov sites are great and there are links available from the above links). If you fill a request, be sure to remove the request template from the article’s talk page. Our other item is another red link removal drive, this time on the flagship Oregon article. Like the state parks red link drive, try to coordinate on the talk page. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts click here. Aboutmovies 01:56, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HELP

I am having problems with a user (SpigotMap that is adding incorrect information on List of Pokémon episodes. My edits are official which are from the official japanese and american websites http://www.pokemon.com/#tvmovies and from http://www.pokemon.co.jp/. I am trying to make them be official. The episodes from 1-276 are not right none of those episodes contain kanji they are all and ONLY in Hiragana and katakana

Also accourding to http://www.pokemon.co.jp/ all of the titles from Kanto --> Johto DO NOT HAVE KANJI in there titles, so the japanese titles from episode 1-276 are incorrect so we MOST change them to their OFFICAL JAPANESE--(http://www.pokemon.co.jp/anime/tv/pokemon.html)

Um...woah. List of Pokémon episodes was justifiably protected as you've been participating in an edit war over there. How did I get targeted for (apparent) admin-shopping? Work it out on the talk page. — Scientizzle 01:01, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Why {{prod}}?

Why did you added the {{prod}} template to Captain Dan & the Scurvy Crew.--Tasc0 18:46, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

As predicted, the prod was unchallenged and the article was deleted... — Scientizzle 17:20, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:HORSE

  • thanks for the link (in the DJ Pooh AfD) to WP:HORSE, a fantastic page i was hitherto unaware of. ps. hope you don't mind, i tweaked the link on yr page to the 'Jules' bible passage' section in the PF article, i guess someone must have altered the section title. cheers, tomasz. 23:07, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
    • Thanks, on both counts. — Scientizzle 23:21, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Baby Flop (Nicole Scherzinger song)

...was actually a legit article but someone moved it from "Baby Love (Nicole Scherzinger song)". I put a speedy tag on the redirect page so I could move it back but it's still sitting there. Is there any chance you could take care of it? If the version you deleted was vandalised, check the edit history for a legit version. Thanks! Precious Roy 02:06, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Duh, nevermind. I see it's at Baby Love (song). Precious Roy 02:07, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 72.221.100.24 is at it again!

Scientizzle:

Smuschiano215 was recently indefinitely blocked for going on a vandalism spree. Shortly, thereafter user 72.21.100.24 started doing some of the same things and it was obvious that 72.21.100.24 and Smuschiano were one and the same.

On September 26th, you blocked 72.21.100.24 for 48 hours. Today he was back at it again when he blanked out a large part of my user page (which was subsequently reversed by DerHexer). I ask you to please block 72.21.100.24 again ... and preferably permanently this time. For someone with a law degree, he is acting like a child. Please help. - mbeychok 21:50, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

72.221.100.24 (talk · contribs) hasn't edited since being blocked (again) for 1 month on October 1, 2007. I don't think we need to worry about this for a while... — Scientizzle 17:18, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
