[edit] About this template

This template is the project banner for WikiProject Science Fiction.

The template is to be placed on talk pages (only) of the articles identified as being within the Project's scope (at or near the top of the talkpage).

This template automatically assigns the category Category:WikiProject Science fiction to the articles' talk pages. This category and other associated Project categories are used in various ways by the Project in the overall management of the Project's workload.

The template has optional parameters, details of usage are given below.

[edit] Usage instructions

General syntax options for this template are as follows:

{{Science Fiction Project
 | class =
 | importance=
 | type =
 | listas =
}}

The parameters are named, and (if used) must be entered exactly as-is (note, all are lowercase).

The class and importance parameters are associated with the Project's article assessment and rating scheme. These parameters add a category to the talkpage, which category depends on the values chosen.

Listas serves for proper alphabetical sorting within categories similarly like in the categories of the article itself: i. e. use "listas =Doe, John" or "listas =Great SF Novel, The".

[edit] Parameter values

[edit] Class

This optional parameter records the Project quality assessment rating currently assigned to the particular article on whose talkpage the project banner appears.

If unassigned, or an invalid value is given, the parameter defaults to "unassigned" and the template places the talkpage into Category:Unassessed science fiction articles.

Valid values for this parameter, their associated meanings and categories are given in the table below. Values should be typed as shown (eg |class=GA ):

Class parameter values (Category:Science fiction articles by quality)
Value Meaning Category

[edit] Importance

This optional parameter records the Project priority assessment rating currently assigned to the particular article on whose talkpage the project banner appears.

If unassigned, or an invalid value is given, or the class parameter is set to "NA", the parameter defaults to "unassigned" and the template places the talkpage into Category:Unknown-importance science fiction articles.

Valid values for this parameter, their associated meanings and categories are given in the table below. Values should be typed as shown (eg |importance=Mid ):

Importance parameter values (Category:Science fiction articles by importance)
Value Meaning Category
Top For "key" articles, considered indispensable Top-importance science fiction articles
High For High-priority topics and needed subtopics of "key" articles High-importance science fiction articles
Mid For Mid-priority articles on more specialised (sub-)topics Mid-importance science fiction articles
Low For still notable, but more highly-specialised or even obscure topics Low-importance science fiction articles

[edit] Type

Whether the page is an article, list, or template. The type will decide which category the page will be put in. If no type is entered, or an unknown type, the page will be listed with the articles, but no article tag will apear on the template; ditto for type=article which is superfluous. Do not enter empty value.

Note: The type is case-sensitive (except for the first letter). Please enter it capitalised as seen below to avoid errors.
