- I think it would be better if you mentioned this in parentheses somewhere in a reference section down in the article itself, so as to prevent any future possible deletions.--Zereshk 01:37, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] section on medicine
We must have a separate section on medicine, since the achievements there are relatively numerous. I can write a paragraph or two to upstart the section. Agree?--Zereshk 23:27, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Persian vs. Iranian
Hi! I'm doing a copyedit of this article as a member of the League of Copyeditors. I noticed that throughout the "modern" sections of the article, people are referred to seemingly interchangeably as Persian and Iranian. My understanding was that Persian is the ancient description of the country and people, while Iranian should be used to refer to modern country and its citizens. Is this the case? What is the date that Iran became a modern state (i.e., what is the "cutoff" date for calling someone Persian, if any?) Galena11 19:22, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your kind helps. Before 1935 the country was called Persia. So we can use this naming convention for science accordingly. Sangak 19:37, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- Would this also apply to Persian literature? Galena11 19:38, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- No! Persian literature is associated with Persian language. there is no other name for Persian literature. Sangak 19:40, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- OK, so it should always be "Persian" throughout the literature article, and never Iranian? Galena11 19:41, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes! Thanks. Sangak 19:46, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- Great, thank you for the clarification! Galena11 19:49, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Pourmand-urology.jpg
Image:Pourmand-urology.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:05, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Confusion
I'm just wondering, which revolution does this pertain to? "Many Nobel laureates and influential scientists as Bruce Alberts, F. Sherwood Rowland, Kurt Wuthrich, Stephen Hawkings, and Pierre-Gilles de Genne visited Iran after the revolution. Some Universities also hosted American and European scientists as guest lecturers during last decades." Just wondering, because I would like to write something more specific. Thanks!! Some of the sources are not valid sources, such as 21 about the 880 billion dollars, it links to a video —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.102.106.35 (talk) 06:09, August 21, 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Optics part copied from copyrighted source
The part on the Father of Optics appears to be copied verbatim from its cited link, which has a copyright notice on the bottom. (See especially the reference to the "optical diagram", which is referred to in this Wiki article but doesn't appear here; it appears only on the linked page.) This information should be rewritten in your own words. Unimaginative Username 06:33, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Unclear sections
I've copy-edited up to the break for the "Letters" image. The sentence that starts with "High filed" is unclear to me. I don't know the meaning of "high filed" and don't know anything about this subject overall. Please clarify.
Also, the reference to being among the "top 146 countries in the world" doesn't seem very meaningful. There are 200 or so countries, depending on who's counting, so being in the top 146 out of 200 seems not a substantial claim.
Would suggest more references -- there are none in the pre-Islam section. In addition, statements of greatness or other claims of quality should be referenced to expert opinions; otherwise, they violate WP:PEACOCK. I changed a few and hope you can provide support for others. Breaking off on the copy-edit now. Very interesting article -- hope you can get it to top quality.
