[edit] Distribution

This species is endemic to New Zealand including The Snares and the Chatham Islands.

[edit] Habitat

This scissurellid is found at depths of from shallow water to 90 m.

[edit] Shell description

The shells are very small, auriform, the last whorl large, forming most of the shell. The sinus is a deep slit in the upper part of the outer lip, at the termination of a selenizone, that extends back over half the body whorl, is shallowly grooved externally, and is a raised ridge internally. The umbilicus is closed by a callus, spread from the concave inner lip. The surface is smooth, except for spiral threads that are very fine and faint on the upper part of the whorls, but distant and much stronger on the base.

The shell coloration is white, sometimes with the apex rose tinted.

The shell height is up to 1.2 mm, and width 1.35 mm.
