Scipio Nasica

- Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica (b. 227 BC fl. 171 BC) was consul of Ancient Rome in 191 BC, and a first cousin to Scipio Africanus and Scipio Asiaticus. He founded the branch cognominated Scipio Nasica which ended with Caesar's political opponent Quintus Caecilius Metellus Cornelianus Scipio (d. 46 BC), adopted into the Caecilii Metelli.
- Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica Corculum (d. 141 BC), son of the above, twice elected consul in 162 BC and 155 BC, and censor in 159 BC, was Pontifex Maximus, Princeps Senatus, and the opponent of Cato the Censor in the years leading up to the Third Punic War.
- Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica Serapio (d. 132 BC Pergamum, Asia Minor), son of the above, consul 138 BC, was also Pontifex Maximus, and as a staunch conservative, became the political opponent of his cousin Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus (kd. 133 BC). He was the first Pontifex Maximus to leave the Italian mainland when he was sent to Asia Minor by the Senate after the murder of Gracchus.
- Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica, consul in 111 BC, son of the above, was married to Caecilia Metella Macedonica, a daughter of Quintus Caecilius Metellus Macedonicus. He was father of
- Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica, a praetor, commander during the Social War, who married Licinia Major, elder daughter of Lucius Licinius Crassus Orator by his wife Mucia, daughter of the consul Quintus Mucius Scaevola Augur and granddaughter of Gaius Laelius Sapiens, and had at least two surviving sons by her:
- a son, became Lucius Licinius Crassus Cornelianus Scipio, adopted by his maternal grandfather.
- a son, became Quintus Caecilius Metellus Pius Cornelianus Scipio, or Metellus Scipio (b. c. 100 BC or 98 BC - d. 46 BC). He married Aemilia Lepida, daughter of Mamercus Aemilius Lepidus Livianus Princeps Senatus by his first wife Claudia, and had issue, one son and one daughter
- Quintus or Lucius Caecilius Metellus, or Metellus Scipio the Younger, who is alleged to have had a son and grandson.
- Caecilia Metella, known as Cornelia Metella, who first married Publius Licinius Crassus, eldest son of Marcus Licinius Crassus the triumvir, and had no issue. As a widow, she married Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus as his fifth and last wife in 52 BC, after the death of Julia Caesaris, only child of Julius Caesar. She outlived her husband by several years. There were no children of the marriage.
