The Science, Technology and Innovation Council (STIC) consists of a Chair and 17 members whose work will be supported administratively by a Secretariat housed within Industry Canada. The members of the Council were appointed by the Industry Minister, Jim Prentice, on October 18, 2007.[1]

According to the website, the mandate is to "produce regular national reports that measure Canada's science and technology performance against international standards of excellence"[2]
