Fair use rationale for Image:American Taekwando Association.jpg

Oh that image was from a certain ATA school. I thought the URL implied that already. QuizQuick 02:18, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

You still need to write a fair use rationale indicating why we are able to use this image under fair use. See Wikipedia:Image description page#Fair use rationale for more information about writing a fair use rationale. SchuminWeb (Talk) 02:22, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Link removal

How come my Civic forum link was removed from the Honda Civic page? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.107.221.118 (talkcontribs) .

Removed as linkspam. SchuminWeb (Talk) 03:33, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
How was it spam? It was a link to an online forum? Another link at the bottom of the page is to an online forum? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.107.221.118 (talkcontribs) .
According to Wikipedia:External links under "Links normally to be avoided", point number nine states: "Blogs, social networking sites (such as MySpace) and forums should generally not be linked to." SchuminWeb (Talk) 03:39, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Does that mean that you are going to remove the other forum link too then in the external links section?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.107.221.118 (talkcontribs) .
I did. SchuminWeb (Talk) 03:50, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
I guess you can tell that I was a little peeved but I now have to admit that you are consistent.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.107.221.118 (talkcontribs) .

Whiz Kidz Biz

You removed my link to Whiz Kidz Biz on the Elimination Communication page on the basis that it was either a commercial site, or my own site that I was promoting. I feel that you should reconsider based on the following. First, it is not my own site, it just happens to be one that I found useful as I researched EC. In fact, it is very similar in content a few of the other sites linked to, in that it contain personal stories and experiences, which are useful, but would not be appropriate to add to the Wiki article itself. Furthermore, it contains a web directory that is very useful, and as I understand, that is an acceptable reason for an external link. Lastly, although it does sell some products, it is not primeraly a commercial site, as is The EC Store that is also linked to there. If you still think this link is inappropriate, you should review some of the other links on that page as well. -Thank you for your time. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 158.91.215.158 (talkcontribs) .

Hm. On second glance, it appears to be a little more than a commercial spam-site. In that case, though, if you re-add it, you need to provide a better description for the link, which was a lot of what attracted me to it as believing it was a spam link. SchuminWeb (Talk) 05:21, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your reconsideration, I will put a better description on it this time. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 158.91.215.158 (talkcontribs) .

Re: Regarding Pylons

Both of those photographs were taken on a Pentax K1000. They were taken possibly on October 29th, 2005. It was sometime in the last week of October. Those are the only two pylon photos (Smithsonian & Foggy Bottoms) I have, but I am going back to D.C. on August 24th & 25th, 2006. I am hoping to get a few more pylons photos, but they will not be on a Pentax (they will be on a smaller Nikon). -Dtbohrer 12:53, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Categorisations "Flat"

Instead of arbitrarily rolling it back, you may have enquired as to my reasons. As it is, the categories concerning items related to fire, fire prevention and fire protection do not make sense. Also, the links to the German Wikipedia go to the wrong place, fire prevention, when most of the good stuff on fire protection does not appear. For instance, since you remove the fire protection category from fire protection products, just exactly what reasoning is behind that??--Achim 21:05, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

This is because there are much more appropriate subcategories under the main "Fire Protection" category that these articles belong in. Listing them in both that category and their parent category defeats the purpose of categorizing. The idea is to find the most appropriate place - not just smear it all over the landscape. SchuminWeb (Talk) 03:00, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

That sound excellent, except you removed the fire protection category from fire protection products. Maybe that makes sense to you. It certainly doesn't to me.--Achim 14:59, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Removal of other people's contributions

I see on your talk page that you do this a lot and I also see that you are not an administrator and would like to be. Is that still the case? As a self-admitted "Wikiholic", have you examined your motives for this?--Achim 15:02, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes, this is still current, as I only redid my user page last week. The reversions that you refer to are related to "RC patrolling", which is primarily concerned with zapping vandalism, spam, etc. on Wikipedia's "recent changes" pages. It does occasionally happen that what I revert as vandalism or spam was not intended as such. Mistakes do occasionally happen, especially since I only recently started RC patrolling on a regular basis within the last couple of weeks. I'll get better as I get more accustomed to doing this, I promise. Your particular situation first came to my attention on my watchlist, which is unrelated, and consists of articles that I keep a particular eye on due to whatever interest I may have in them.
As for motives, my motives in being interested in adminship are more to be able to tackle "housekeeping" issues than to rough people around or something like that. This would include addressing things like copyright problems, completing requested moves, and fix improperly-made moves. SchuminWeb (Talk) 22:15, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for getting involved with Template talk:Anarchism -- the more, the merrier. It's good to have fresh perspectives, and I also welcome new people who are getting involved in the discussion. It can become heated at times, which is why I think that it's important to bring in other people's thoughts and suggestions. I also suggest checking out a lot of the other anarchism-related pages, as the discussion often (read: always) spills over to those, and vice versa. There's a lot of partisanship going on. Good luck, and happy editing. --AaronS 22:58, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Substituting {{unsigned}}

This is still under debate - so please don't use the AWB to make these substitutions. --Trödel 22:56, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Compartmentalisation

OK, I can't really see your argument about the categories in this case, as it messes up the links with the German wiki, which is unfortunate. I won't argue it though. But on what grounds do you presume to remove the obvious meaning to compartmentalisation in the intelligence community and in passive fire protection?? A fire compartment is a defined code term. The Engineering reference is far to vague to address this.--Achim 22:58, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Passive Fire Protection

If I may recommend: I see that you routinely make edits to my writings. I had a brief look at your site and I understand your interest in AFP and firefighting. I recommend that you have a look at my site and absorb some of the information there, before editing my writings further. Specifically and further to the "Compartmentalisation", I can assure you of my background with both of the categories mentioned. I have spent my share of time in the beltway with a number of your governmental agencies, in addition to field work. Though FAR from infallible, and open to new information, generally, if I write it down, you can bet that I have written and experiential back-up for it. A significant amount of it, in fact, I have provided expert testimony on. This should open your horizons a bit further, where PFP is concerned: http://www.geocities.com/astximw . Best regards, --Achim 23:24, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Anarcho-capitalism

Thanks for the invitation. Are the templates discussed those in the "playground"? Or the one in the "sandbox"? Anyway, I removed "anarcho-capitalism" for obvious reasons. As it seems (I haven't really read the talk page completely) that Intangible was making you turn into circles, maybe you'll be interested in knowing this is a recurrent habit of him (removal of far right from obvious far right groups, etc.). A request for arbitration has been opened against him if you want to leave a comment... Cheers! Tazmaniacs 14:44, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

I have presented more than enough sources on the talk page there, to make a claim that anarcho-capitalism is a form of anarchism. Except for one marginal book written by some marginal free-lance writer published by some marginal publishing house, no sources to claim otherwise were presented. It seems some Wikipedians are trying to create a Wikiality. Intangible 15:11, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Intro. I joined your Fire Protection project

Hi Ben, I joined the Fire Protection Project mostly to provide a fresh set of eyes to the subject matter. I don't claim much subject matter expertise or ability to author wiki pages, but I hope I can help by asking questions from the perspective of an uneducated reader of this subject matter. First round of questions went to Ahering%40cogeco.ca yesterday.

For now I won't be biting off anything from the ToDo list. Feel free to message me for guidance or suggestions. --MikeDayoub 13:35, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

I moved Step By Step to Step by Step pretty much for grammar reasons, but I don't particularly mind if its moved back. —tregoweth (talk) 00:44, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Turn-Style

Thanks for the note on the Turn-Style article. I don't have citations for the comments at the end of the article since they came from my Dad who used to be president of Turn-Style. I suppose you could remove them if you think they amount to an opinion. Or wikify them to bring them up to code. Let me know what you think. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jamtexas (talkcontribs) .

Coach disambiguation page

First of all, thank you for completing the move of Coach to Coach (vehicle). Could you also please complete the second part of the request, which would be to move Coach (disambiguation) to Coach? I realize that a redirect was created, but actually having the dab page there would be more helpful and look a little "neater". Thanks. SchuminWeb (Talk) 15:47, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm not an admin, so I can't perform the move myself. I often take care of as many moves as possible at WP:RM because they're often neglected by administrators and because I want to leave as little work for the admins when they get around to it (note that frequent appearance of the {{adminbacklog}} template). I could, however, refer you to one (or contact one myself) if you so desire. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 15:52, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Ah, we're in the same boat, then. Non-admins who don't have the access rights to properly take care of all of the housekeeping issues we'd like to tackle. Don't worry about it, then. I'll take care of it. SchuminWeb (Talk) 15:56, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Template:Anarchism

Please refrain from such moves in the future. There was consensus about content of the template, just about its color. -- Vision Thing -- 18:35, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Going on what you intended to say and not what you actually said, as I took it, we were discussing the new layout and color scheme, so by that, yes, we had consensus. SchuminWeb (Talk) 18:41, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
About how it should look we have consensus, we don't have it about content of the template. I advise you to read "Problems" section. -- Vision Thing -- 18:43, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

How can you claim that there is a consensus? Can you cite appropriate part of talk? -- Vision Thing -- 18:51, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Real Poll said: "Okay, since people are trying to implement template changes without asking the group, I suggest we go ahead and have a real vote. We can deal with content later." How can you then claim that there was a consensus about content? -- Vision Thing -- 19:04, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

By the way, this user has patented a widget that you can see here: http://www.freshpatents.com/Power-strip-with-smoke-detection-auto-shutoff-dt20050804ptan20050168901.php He is troubled by the need for UL listings and bounding in construction, without the funding for which it is harder to sell a construction product in North America than it would be to get Osama bin Laden to become a US Supreme Court Judge. Therein lies the discomfort with my texts on the subject matter, be they easily verifiable or not. There is no allowance in safety products for start-ups that do not have money to get their stuff approved. Sort of a pity, but understandable in consultation with fire victims. --Achim 01:56, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

True, I am active in the industry. If you see any edits attempting to further my business interests, please point them out.
Meanwhile, consider my work on Wiki at face value, an attempt to improve the articles. I honestly hope these articles can be improved. Today, for example, I continue to recommend major changes to the bounding article.

--MikeDayoub 17:27, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, I do always try to assume good faith on here. Otherwise, regarding bounding, if you think you can improve it, then fix it! SchuminWeb (Talk) 03:45, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

What change?

I've made no changes to any wikipedia page. Is somebody using my name? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.42.162.40 (talkcontribs) .

The edits in question come from an IP address: 67.42.162.40. The edit that I was messaging about was here, regarding a test that was self-reverted. Here is the contribution history for this IP: Special:Contributions/67.42.162.40.
I don't know whether the IP that you are using is a shared address or not. That may be the source of the confusion. In any case, I would highly recommend registering a user name. See Wikipedia:Why create an account? for information on why a user name is beneficial. SchuminWeb (Talk) 23:27, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

It may be shared ...

I don't know how Quest manages Voice over IP. That's possible. I live in the neighborhood with Kim B. Clark but didn't update the entry. I will make an inquiry with Quest and double check that one of my teenagers didn't make the change.

I don't contribute because of contracts with McGraw-Hill/Osborne that are technically conflicts of interest with your licensing agreement. Unfortunately, I'm authoring technical books. I've been sorely tempted to fix things at en.wikisource.org that are incorrect but I've abstained. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.42.162.40 (talkcontribs) .

Re: Nomination for Adminship

I beat you to it (I had the page on my watchlist). I'm sorry, but I'll have to decline the nomination. Since I see quite a few people have been asking me about adminship, I'll loosen up on the October idea. Interested in helping on fire alarm & detection

Ben,

I'm not too wiki saavy, but I am an experienced fire alarm technician, and I have been frustrated by the inaccurate entries on fire alarm technology. I would be willing to write, edit, etc., but I'm not sure how to post properly.

I'm American, and I don't want to undo British / Australian entries...Any of Her Majesty's alarm techs still out there? These pages should accurately reflect the current technologies around the world.

Re: Political rally/Wild in the Streets

I think you're confusing a meeting to show support for a candidate (a rally) with a meeting to protest an issue (a demonstration); the two are not the same. Max Frost in Wild in the Streets is not asked to perform at a protest; he calls for one while performing at a meeting to promote a Senate candidate. (Have you seen this movie?) For lack of a better link, I am replacing "political rally" with political convention, which more accurately describes the first event. Zephyrad 10:46, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

That works. I changed it to demonstration (people) because political rally redirected to demonstration, which is where, until a couple of days ago, demonstration (people) resided. SchuminWeb (Talk) 09:55, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Retailing newsletter for September 2006

Hello, and welcome! WikiProject Retailing has finally been launched, and is now active! You are receiving this newsletter because you have previously expressed that you would be interested in this WikiProject.

Open tasks
Since this is a brand new project, the first task that needs to be done is to label the talk page of every article that falls within this project's scope with {{WikiProject Retailing}}, and to list such articles on our article list. See the categories within this project's scope for a list of candidates. The reason this needs to be done first is to recruit new members to make up for any attrition in the future.

Also, please add your username to our members list to indicate your interest in the WikiProject. For now, if you don't want to receive this newsletter again, you can simply not add it here. Going into the future, this newsletter will only be sent to users who are listed on the project page. Thanks, and happy editing!

So Mr. Schumen. You rally for the deletion of my article. You spit on all of modern society's conventions regarding peace and civility. And on top of all that, you sell thong underwear online. Hence, I have come to an important conclusion: you are my Newman. And thusly, I say this to you sir: Hello... Schumen... Joeferret 05:42, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

"Re-enlarging photos"

Hi. This is in reference to your edit on the Bus page. Your edit summary said "Re-enlarging photos". However, specifying 250px as the image width may amount to enlarging or reducing (or keeping the same size), depending on the user preferences. For example, I have set my thumbnail size to 300px, which is reasonable for a 1680x1050 screen. Please see Wikipedia:Images#Forced image size. I think it is best not to specify the image width. RNC 2004

Hello, I don't know what you're talking about with this NPOV violation on the RNC contribution. It is a documented fact that the New York Police did both infiltrate and provoke, and they also videotaped protestors brazenly against the law. Please respond with your rationale judging that these facts are biased. Facts are facts, not opionion. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.223.252.171 (talk • contribs) .

If you have no citations to support what you said (and you had no citations), then it's POV. SchuminWeb (Talk) 02:48, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Officer Schumin, here is your citation. New York Times article dated December 22, 2005, titled "New York Police Covertly Join In at Protest Rallies" by JIM DWYER. So, I'm putting it back up. It totally changes people's perception of the events at the RNC Protests when they learn just how sneaky the police and secret police actions were there. It totally changes things to learn that the police intended to and indeed did change the course of history by interfering with the protestors covertly. Not as police but acting as protestors. Who knows what else they did that protestors are blamed for. Its a standing practice of the police to do uncercover provocateur actions that serve to justify the repression that the uniformed police then unleash on protestors.24.223.252.171 20:11, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Terrierman site

Hi --

I am the creator, author and owner of all the content on the www.terrierman.com web site, and also wrote the initial text for the "American Working Terrier Association" entry in wikipedia. There is no copyright problem -- the front page of the www.terrierman.com web site give free and ready permission for others to use the text as they see fit, and that includes me the author :)

Carol Moore on Wikipedia

I have already been a victim of identity theft once and don't like putting my actual birthdate out. Have others expressed similar reluctance. Also, can I get the NOTE: "The neutrality of this article is disputed." removed? Don't know how to do it, plus I'm probably not the one who should do it. Also just noticed a spelling error and corrected it. Thanks :-) CM

Regarding DOB, that's fine. You're also the first I've hit up about a DOB, and so it's never come up before regarding similar reluctance. You do raise a good point, though. I went ahead and put the birth year at the top, and added the article to Category:Date of birth missing. Otherwise, regarding the NPOV tag, it's actually not a lot of stuff that's causing it, and I've been thinking about how to reword those areas. One that I'm particularly trying to reword is the part where it speaks of "wars of aggression". And lastly, I moved the quotes off onto a Wikiquote page. More quotes there = helpful, but we just need to source them. SchuminWeb (Talk) 09:44, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

I took out wars of aggression only to maintain neutrality and don't have time to figure out how to say "which she believes are wars of aggression" neutrally right now without going into evidence thereof. :-) NOW can I get that not neutral thing off? :-) Also, if you want more quotes from me I have real live ones all over the place which can put up at my convenience. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carolmooredc (talkcontribs)

Please read WP:USSH. State Route 267 (Virginia) is the format that should be linked to. --NE2 07:15, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

No. That specifies the format for redirects. It doesn't say that you have to link it that way. And changing from a link to the actual article to a redirect seems a nonsensical move. SchuminWeb (Talk) 12:13, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Look at the WP:USSH#Linking section. --NE2 12:16, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
I read it as well. It does not specify a preference to linking to a redirect over the actual article title. That section is basically a how-to guide on creating piped links. SchuminWeb (Talk) 12:20, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
It specifically says: "When linking to a state highway article, be sure to use the common name, especially for the cases where the common name and article title are different." The common name here is State Route 267. --NE2 12:21, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
It also says don't "fix" piped links. Besides, if it's not broken, you don't need to fix it. And it wasn't broken. SchuminWeb (Talk) 12:26, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
It was broken for the purposes of WP:USSH, since it read "Virginia State Highway 267" rather than "State Route 267". --NE2 12:26, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
And it's been piped that way from the get go, so we had been linking it correctly the entire time, regardless of what the underlying link says. In addition, I think some editors around here take things FAR too seriously. Read WP:IAR when you get a chance. It's like a breath of fresh air... SchuminWeb (Talk) 12:31, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
No, it wasn't piped. Had the link read [[Virginia State Highway 267|State Route 267]], then, although it would be awkward, there would be no real reason to change it. An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:WMATA Alstom 6000-series cars.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

And yes, I realize that I'm notifying myself about an image that I uploaded being nominated for deletion by me, but just to cover all my bases, I'm doing it anyway. SchuminWeb (Talk) 08:22, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Image:Richard white wmata.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Richard white wmata.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Chowbok 18:27, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Map of Aarewangen revealed :o)

How on earth did you figure out the right template to make the map show up? I have to admit that tweaking it, with no success, nearly drove me nuts one night. --Zeraeph 17:56, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

I hate to burst your bubble, but I didn't make it work. I did some mass-editing with AWB recently that included "general fixes", but the only thing I changed in Aarwangen was the {{commons}} template, replacing it with the tidier {{commonscat}} category. Blair House image deletions

Hi Ben, I am curious why you deleted the new pictures on the Blair House article. The use of bold in captions is allowed in wiki MOS. CApitol3 13:28, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

I didn't delete them - I just moved them into their own category on Wikimedia Commons for space purposes. Check it out: Commons:Category:Blair House. As for boldface in captions, could you point out for me where this is permitted? I looked at Wikipedia:Manual of Style, Wikipedia:Images, and also Wikipedia:Captions, and found nothing that explicitly permitted bold text in image captions. SchuminWeb (Talk) 10:32, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia style does not prohibit bold or italics in captions. The article had only a single image yesterday. CApitol3 12:42, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

But it also does not explicitly permit boldface in captions, so I am not running afoul by removing it. As for images, correct - it only carried a single image, but there was a link to a Wikimedia Commons category, where the remaining images resided. SchuminWeb (Talk) 19:56, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Ben, we take a different interpretation to the Wiki style manual. And, editing an article so that three captioned images that previously loaded and displayed no longer do so, seems akin to deleting them. No, you did not delete them from the entire system, you moved them to a related resource which I have no problem with at all. But making them no longer visisble on the article seems like you removed 'em. The constitution does not implicitly articualte my right to eat winter squash, drink root beer, or water ski, but that does not mean it's forbidden. Could you 'please flex a bit here? 20:03, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

My problem with the images' all displaying on the page is that it makes the article too long. When two images are displaying entirely below the text, as seen here in this revision before I touched anything, it means that there are too many images displaying in the article. Therefore, leaving one of the images and linking to the rest on Commons is a prudent move. Per the MOS: "Use {{Commons}} to link to more images on Commons, wherever possible." Basically, we want to make the article visually attractive from a layout point of view as well, and too many pictures makes the article appear crowded or awkward. SchuminWeb (Talk) 20:24, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi Ben, I think this is your own experience of the page, and of wiki policy. The download time is not slow and I would rather scroll down to see the images than naviagate my way to the Commons. I admit this is my take on it. Jim CApitol3 20:33, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

I never said this had anything to do with download time. In fact, it has nothing to do with download time whatsoever. It's all about appearances. We're making an encyclopedia here, and so our articles need to look encyclopedic. SchuminWeb (Talk) 00:02, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Hypermart USA

Hello, I see you've also discovered the Discount Store News magazine articles on findarticles.com, congratulations. It seems to be quite a reliable resource when researching history for articles within WP:RETAIL's scope (particularly history of discount stores of course). Just thought I'd let you know that this has been very useful to me as well. Regards, Tuxide 00:50, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Newspaper Images

Hey Schuminweb, I really just wanted to add as many images to as many newspapers articles as I could in the shortest time, so to make things easier I decided to pick one date. This way, instead of typing out each unique caption and image summary (and invariably introducing numerical errors), I could just paste this stuff in when I needed it. I then looked at Newseum's archived front pages list to pick a suitable date. Once I did, the choice seemed obvious.

I wanted something fairly recent (w/in a couple years), and some event that would have a cool picture. Many of the significant events of this new century have been somewhat politically sensitive or tragic, so I avoided those topics and settled on the Discovery Space Shuttle's return flight. It seemed like a topic that was rather neutral politically, that few would find objectionable (although I know there will always be some who disagree). I think of the images I've uploaded as just placeholders, and I hope that local folks feel bold enough to replace them with more apt, recent, local stories as they occur. I haven't replaced any existing images (as in Montgomery Advertiser), and in the case of 2 Hawaiian newspapers (The Honolulu Advertiser and West Hawaii Today), I was quick enough on the draw to add images featuring the recent nonfatal earthquake there instead. To me, those 3 seem like perfect examples of encyclopedic newspaper images - recent stories that were widely reported, yet which are of particular relevance to the community served by said newspaper.

Anyway, I figured someone would ask eventually, and I'm sorry to give such a long response. I hope I haven't stepped on any toes here, and I also hope I've satisfied your curiosity! --Tobogganoggin 03:03, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

No toes stepped on here. I think it's a great addition to the articles in question, and am glad to find out the rationale for how you arrived at that date. You put a lot more thought into it than I expected, which is awesome. SchuminWeb (Talk) 10:19, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

James Madison University

Hi, there. Do you have any thoughts regarding the middlesell.com link that keeps getting added to James Madison University and other articles? --Takeel 03:13, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Spam, pure and simple. I looked at the site, and it has nothing really to do with JMU. SchuminWeb (Talk) 07:20, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

AfD Double Jeopardy

Do you know somebody with a legal background who could present a good argument for AfD double jeopardy? I have only a basic knowledge of the concept. DiogenesNY 04:02, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

I don't know if a legal background is particularly necessary, but the trick is figuring out how to incorporate it all into Wikipedia's system and make it "work". Your kicker is that nothing is binding on Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:Consensus can change), though. SchuminWeb (Talk) 04:18, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

If you're referring to the boldfaced section on my user talk page, that's there to direct people to the proper location for communications. It is the response to people contacting me all over the place regarding Wikipedia, and so it has become necessary to say this. SchuminWeb (Talk) 13:44, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
