[edit] Minnesota High School Hockey, Boys'

Good day Schulte, and thank you for your contributions and endurance of the WP:VFD process. I hope you aren't discouraged.

The beginning of the article is fine and I assume you intend that you or someone else will further develop the history and champions of the league.

The Teams section, however, looks a lot like a uninteresting list that catches the eye of many deletionists. It is often said that Wikipedia is not a collection of lists, though there are certainly some encyclopedic lists and I don't say your article is only a list. Just that it may push some voters to the delete or merge camp.

Your article notes that the teams are divided into classes and sections. A great way to increase the interest of a list is to organise it in some way and add details. So I would suggest dividing the list into the classes and sections and, perhaps, adding something like Year of Championship. e.g.:

[edit] Class AA

[edit] Section 1

School Team Colors Championships
Academy of Holy Angels Stars Royal, Vegas Gold 2005
Albert Lea Tigers Cherry and Blue

[edit] Class A

[edit] Section 8

School Team Colors Championships
Wadena-Deer Creek [1] 2001
Warroad [2] 2005

(Obviously I just made up this data and is not accurate. :-) )

Also notice that I moved the team website to the Nickname column and renamed it. I generally frown on seeing external links within the aricle itself but I see its usefulness here. It is a little prettier, though, when linked to the name rather than just being a link.

A public domain picture or two would be great too though often difficult to get.

Don't forget to check out:

Anyway, there's my 2¢ that you asked for. :-) Cheers, DoubleBlue (Talk) 22:43, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Broomball Hockey

Hello DAS. Funny that I find you here. Nice work on the hockey articles. KWK 23:38, Jun 10, 2005 (UTC)

  • I wondered if you'd turn up. I may have a follow-up question for you in the event the high school hockey article goes south... --Schulte 01:58, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • The article will probably be kept. Articles are only deleted if there is a consensus to delete, and "consensus" is roughly defined as 66% majority, and for some administrators, it's even higher, like 75% or 80%. Right now, it's running 55% to keep. AиDя01DTALKEMAIL 02:20, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)
    • One more thing... you may want to make an explicit Keep vote at the discussion. Some people are kinda anal about that and may not count your defense and expansion of the article as an implicit vote. AиDя01DTALKEMAIL 02:22, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Herb Brooks award

You should consider starting a page about the herb brooks award, similar to the mr. hockey award. I see you have an interest in hockey, so i thought i might suggest it, if you have time. Anyways, just something to think about.--Geppy 07:20, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Thought about it Geppy. It is pretty new though...think it should gather some steam first? --Schulte 13:32, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Conferences

So for the new List of conferences page (Minnesota State High School League Conferences) i went and added all the schools for the conferences i could find. Do you think we should just remove the ones we dont find info for, because im not sure all of those are actual conferences. Anyways, let me know what you think.--Gephart 01:43, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

  • I think they should be listed actually...a historical look back. For example, I think the Rum River will be departing after this year. So we could use a notation like: 1940-2007 (defunct) to keep track of conference that is breaking up. Keep the 1932 - present for the other type. Seem appropriate? --Schulte 02:35, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reunion

Sounded to much like an advert. Reunion does what any good genealogy programs should do. I personally like the program and still use it. I believe the version history should also come out as it available on the main reunion website. Gioto 15:48, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Before I start pulling things out like that, I will add it to the talk page for discussion in future. I believe this wikipedia is great stuff, only found it recently and didn't mean to step on your toes :) Gioto 16:03, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Are you interested in creating articles for the other genealogy programs also? Gioto 16:06, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Copper High School

On 8-June, you started the nomination process for deleting this redirect, but you did not follow all the steps. I have completed the nomination and you may wish to participate in the discussion at WP:RFD. Please also see that page for instructions all how to complete a nomination. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks. -- JLaTondre 13:51, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Thanks JLaTondre -- thanks for following through with the nomination process. Overlooked it. --Schulte 18:30, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
