[edit] My edit to White Hill

That was actually an accident. I was trying to revert vandalism off the page and User:DerHexer was a second ahead of me, so instead of reverting the vandalism I accidentally reverted User:DerHexer edit. Sorry for the inconvience caused when me and User:DerHexer were both trying to stop the vandal who blanked your page. HappiestCamper 12:17, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Nantes

Hey mr campell, i wondered why you did blanked about some of our conversation? However i hope no edit wars will appear again about Nantes. Firstwind (talk) 13:05, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Nice work on this article. I will have to lift semi-protection tomorrow, and I won't be available again until August 8, so it would be worthwhile keeping an eye on it. Thanks. Ground Zero | t 16:46, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. you can read my supporting comment. Michellecrisp 11:26, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
What happened to your request to block that persistent user/sockpuppet on the Nantes articles? I can't seem to find the request anymore on the incident reporting page. Michellecrisp 08:09, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks again. I've added extra evidence of sockpuppetry. Michellecrisp 11:52, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

There has been no activity from this user for a couple of days now. S/he may have left. I have posted a message on her/his talk page to encourage her/him to participate in a productive way. We must keep in mind WP:BITE. While this user has been very agressive, he/she can't be expected to know all ofhte rules of Wikipedia right from the beginning. I would rather try first to turn him/her around, and only proceed to disciplinary action if s/he continues to be agressive. Regards, Ground Zero | t 18:25, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

User:Firstwind is continuing his/her campaign on Nantes. I would appreciate your help in trying to get an alternative version that addresses his/her concerns and is written in proper Engllish. I have been trying to get him/her to be reaosnable, and could use some help. Thanks. Ground Zero | t 18:34, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

  • Yippee! Thanks for your help on this, alter ego of mine. (Incidentally, my father's family came from Ireland after mixing with Normans, so we actually do have something in common.) Best of luck in your future editing. Regards, Ground Zero | t 21:12, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

The last thing I want is for this whole vandalism thing to come back again however User:Firstwind changed the title of the infamous "Train/Intercity/Rail" section back to "Train" which we all agree is not appropriate... Mthibault 15:56, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

  • Frankly, I really don't care about the "Train/Intercity Rail" thing, I just don't like being accused of being a sockpuppet of a "Family Guy" fan, even if we have similar ethnic heritage. Ground Zero | t 17:32, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
  • And being french I really do not enjoy being mistaken for someone else :) I live in Nantes, historically part of Brittany in which Breton_language is (was) spoke(n). Breton shares a common history with Irish. There you are, I made a connection to User:Schcambo. Seriously, can something be done against this guy? As a RC patroller I do not enjoy having a vandalism warning on my page. Mthibault (talk) 05:18, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Feeder

Sorry for the confusion. The band is now at Feeder and I've left a link at the top (but a different one may be more appropriate) to the disambig page. — Scientizzle 21:13, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Gaelic games

Don't forget to fix all the redirects now Gnevin (talk) 23:04, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

I dont really understand wiki's policy of capitization, i'll sort the other redirects with AWB if i get a chance Gnevin (talk) 18:13, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] County Template

Schcambo, did you devise this? If so may I say it looks great. Regards - Sarah777 (talk) 01:47, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

It's actually the Template:US county navigation box, but it works perfectly except for linking to Wicklow, Ireland; nothing a redirect couldn't solve! I might have a go at creating an Irish-only one, although I've never tried creating templates before :S Schcambo (talk) 13:50, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Very fine effort! The "townlands" will need watching as they could explode in number in the future but I guess you jump that shark when you come to it! (Sarah777 (talk) 15:12, 23 December 2007 (UTC))
- btw; was it you said you might do something to spruce-up the regional road routeboxes? (Sarah777 (talk) 15:17, 23 December 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Woa! Halt!

I see you moved Blackrock and Shankill to "County Dublin". Convention is that suburbs of Dublin within the old County are called simply Xtown, Dublin if a dab is required. This is to prevent "address warring" and "post code envy" etcetera plus County Dublin is now anachronistic. Sarah777 (talk) 14:20, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Well technically, 'Dublin' would only include the City Council area, which this isn't! Would 'Xtown, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County' be more correct, maybe? Schcambo (talk) 13:17, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Counties of Ireland

Hello, please note that counties of Ireland always properly use "County" first when dealing with the name of the county. Djegan (talk) 15:49, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

The Irish convention is 'County X', not 'County of X', so why would that be any more appropriate than 'X County'? Schcambo (talk) 15:53, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Actually, officially all Irish counties are in the form "County of X" (not that that is an invitation to rename them see WP:RENAME) - but it is already clear in Fingal and South Dublin that "County of X" is used in the articles rather than "X County" or "County X". Djegan (talk) 15:58, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
No, see here; their official names are simply the counties' names on their own. The normal Irish convention is to write 'County X'. Obviously, with FG, DLR, and SD, that can't be done, so then the next most obvious form is 'X County', not 'County of X'. This also applies in other areas: we don't write Cathedral of Cobh, we write Cobh Cathedral. And actually, if you look here for example, most pages are already linking to either DLR or DLR County. Schcambo (talk) 16:04, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Do a search of http://irishstatutebook.ie and see which form is most used with "County" for those in Dublin - "County of X". I would of been happy with Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, Fingal and South Dublin but it was *you* who started the moving and I did was put it right!
The form "X County" is only used for sub-entities of counties i.e. "X County Council", "X County Hall", "X County Library" etc, etc, etc and never for the county itself. It is often a good idea to seek consensus on the respective talk page first. Regards. Djegan (talk) 16:12, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
By the way the opening of the 1993 act makes it clear (emphasis added):
AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE DIVISION OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE COUNTY OF DUBLIN INTO THREE ADMINISTRATIVE COUNTIES TO BE KNOWN AS THE COUNTY OF SOUTH DUBLIN, THE COUNTY OF FINGAL AND THE COUNTY OF DUN LAOGHAIRE-RATHDOWN, FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A COUNCIL FOR EACH OF THOSE COUNTIES, TO AMEND THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT (DUBLIN) ACTS, 1930 TO 1991, AND TO PROVIDE FOR MATTERS RELATED TO THE MATTERS AFORESAID.
