[edit] Encyclopedia article or highway review?
This article seems more like something you'd find in a magazine talking about a highway. Lines such as "drivers can get off at XYZ exit" shouldn't be in the article. It also seems like it was written as someone was literally driving down the highway at the time and really needs to be more organized. I fixed the Infoxbox, but the article itself needs more touchup. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Crashintome4196 (talk • contribs) 23:41, 30 October 2006 (EST).
[edit] Article cleanup
This article isn't that bad, but IMO it could use some cleanup. The Route Description is pretty rambling, rather subjective at parts, it goes off on some unnecessary tangents (like the network affiliations of the TV stations carried by the Roxborough antenna farm!) and intermixes history that would better belong in the History section. The History section also has the potential to be beefed up big time, the Schuylkill's got a pretty storied history. Let's work towards getting all Philly-area highways to GA or better! - Agreed, though i live 56 miles north of Philly. I like this route so i want ot make the article better. -- JohnnyAlbert10 0:25, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Old exit numbers
I see in the Conshohocken exit picture that the highway once used a different exit number system. Perhaps these should be included in the exit table: ELG has a provision for old exit numbers. —Scott5114↗ 20:28, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure the old exit numbers are a good idea, PA switched to the current system way back in 2001, and has been removing the little "old exit" signs completely since at least 2003 (looks like Conshohocken exit was one of the few they missed; zoom in and you'll notice they're absent from the I-476 signs in the distance). Since the old exits seem to be officially phased out, it's probably best to leave them out. Krimpet (talk/review) 02:45, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- I think that inclusion of the old exit numbers is valid for several reasons. First, the agreed upon guidelines for exit lists call for inclusion of old exit numbers when applicable. Second, the exit lists of many other Pennsylvania Interstates, including I-70, I-76, and I-80, include the old exit numbers. Third, the old exit numbers are part of the history of the Expressway. I think this history should be included and inclusion in the exit list is a logical and easily readable means of presenting this information. VerruckteDan 03:12, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I guess if the other PA interstates all include the old exit numbers it makes sense to do so for the Schuylkill too for consistency's sake. Krimpet (talk/review) 03:42, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
