Talk:School of Rock
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Cartoon Network
I think the thing about their not censoring it for cartoon network is uneccesary. Roz mouths the word in the theatrical and DVD releases; it's part of the film. In general, I don't think something that didn't happen is worthy of a mention. 68.101.192.118 04:55, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Stick it to the man
Readers might think the main purpose is to "score chicks" or "get wasted." Dewey corrects these misperceptions as the true purpose is to "stick it to the man" because "one great rock show can change the world."
[edit] ??
Actually the film is School Of Rock! The "The" was originally in the title, but it got dropped. But, it ended up in the opening credits with the neon sign.
[edit] Spolier/plot warning?
Does this article need a spoiler/plot warning?
I don't know... it only gives away the bare essentials... like a movie review.
Refer to Wikipedia's guidelines on this: Plot sections should not have spoiler warnings.
[edit] WRONG!!!! WRONG!!!! AUGH!!!!!!!!
Did somebody make changes to this article without seeing the movie? The girl who helps Jack Black with the band is the MANAGER, not the BACK-UP SINGER. There were three back-ups.
- Be bold, make the changes yourself. also she is seen singing back up during the encore.
[edit] Anybody noticed?
I love the part where Jack Black is teaching the kids how to play and showing those diagrams and movies and stuff. (You know that part; they play "My Brain is Hanging Upside-down (Bonzo Goes to Bitburg)" by the Ramones in the background.) If you noticed, the first musician that he shows on the videos is Pete Townshend; the last one is Keith Moon. Don't tell me otherwise! I'm a major fan and can easily discern any of them!
[edit] AC/DC
It should be noted that Jack Black's charachter shares several simmilarities with Angus Young of AC/DC. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.170.38.97 (talk • contribs) 01:32, May 5, 2006 (UTC)

also the song school of rock has the lyrics rock got no reason rock got no rhyme while highway to hell has Don't need reason, don't need rhyme —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.5.200.85 (talk) 14:09, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] POV?
Under trivia: "When the kids point out that they are influenced by crappy mainstream music,"
I'm going to get rid of the crappy, true as it may be. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.82.51.210 (talk • contribs) 15:24, June 13, 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Caption: "(BEN)"?!
Someone put "(BEN)" in the caption. I have no idea to what this refers so I'm taking it out. ----HughL [talk?]/[contribs] • 11:07, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Likely just a vandal tagging a page with his name. Don't lose sleep over it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Master Deusoma (talk • contribs) 22:36, October 5, 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dewey shows the kids: The Beatles? ...and The White Stripes.
How did Dewey introduce them to The Beatles (as it says in the article)? Or is this just a mere example? I'm a pretty big fan and the only reference to the Fab Four that I saw was a sticker inside Dewey's van.
Also, I was very surprised at the mention of White Stripes. I'm a huge fan of them, too, and I thought it was so cool that Katie stood up for Meg. Jack White always says that people, when they see her drum, think she has no talent, but that's not what the music's about. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.167.183.135 (talk • contribs) 07:29, July 20, 2006 (UTC)
Kaite is really cute! I love her!!!!!!
I saw the movie, amazing movie.
[edit] a question to ask...
hey does anybody know what song jack black was singing just before two girls came up to him and suggested "the school of rock" as the band name? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 218.186.8.11 (talk • contribs) 13:37, October 4, 2006 (UTC)
- check IMDB.com's trivia section. the song is called "Computerman" —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.31.9.191 (talk • contribs) 22:26, December 2, 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The bass solo
- Katie is the only band member who does not get a solo during the end credits. Though one was filmed, it wasn't shown in the movie (all the singers, Zack, Lawrence, and Freddy got solos.)
Is there any possibility of hearing this bass solo? I have the DVD, but I couldn't find something like "Deleted Scenes" or something. I'm a bassist myself and therefore very interested in bass solos. --DocBrown 14:16, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] song?
hey guys theres a song right at the end when they get their encore it starts off 'riding on the highyway...' what is that song? help much appreciated —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.136.156.128 (talk) 10:59, 9 December 2006 (UTC).
- The song is "Its It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)". Now here's my question. In the end when they play this song, they have a keyboard solo. I know that the kid borrows the keyboard solo from something I've heard before. I'm thinking that it is borrowed from an early Genesis song, perhaps "Supper's Ready". Anyone know? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.14.146.105 (talk • contribs) 20:35, December 11, 2006 (UTC)
[edit] trivia
I deleted some info from the trivia section because some of it just said obvious things or things that really had no significance to the film. hope nobody minds. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mitchbradt (talk • contribs) 21:13, February 2, 2007 (UTC)
Much of the trivia is about the music of the film. Could I suggest that somebody make a separate music section, detailing the music of the film in a sensible (perhaps chronological) way, and get rid of most of the trivia section in line with Wikipedia's guidelines?
[edit] the who
Has anyone noticed how much the main song they perform on the stage at the battle of the bands sounds like the who's song "won't get fooled again". so much so that some of the riffs sound seriously plagiarised. dreamcatcher23 14:11, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't quite think so. The tone sounds a bit lower than in Won't Get Fooled Again, and the lyrical structure is pretty different as well. 200.231.177.20 20:31, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] No Vacancy
Why do I get re-directed to this page when I type in "no vacancy"?
I don't know how to change it, otherwise I would. Movietrailer 00:19, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Because the band that Black's character that hes is kicked out of (and eventually wins Battle of the Bands) is named "No Vacancy". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.208.235.66 (talk) 21:53, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Regarding amplifiers in the movie
Not ALL of the amps in the movie are Marshalls, I definitely saw a Randall half-stack in the background and there is at least one other non-Marshall (couldn't tell since I'm watching on a very small screen).
I'm going to have to change that in the trivia section.
[edit] Genealogic tree
Does anyone know where can I find the genealogic tree of rock that appears drawn on the blackboard in a scene? I've tried hard to find it, but I can't.
If anyone knows how was it made, and can reproduce it the most accurately possible, I'll be grateful. 200.231.177.20 20:29, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia
I found this section very helpful. I wanted to know the segments of music that were featured. Cherylyoung (talk) 03:25, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Filming Locations
Someone repeatedly removes New Jersey as a filming location when several scenes were filmed in Central and North Jersey. IMDB lists several NJ locations and even the film's closing credits thank a few NJ municipalities. Parts of this movie were filmed in NJ. Leave it there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.83.58.139 (talk • contribs) 14:50, April 21, 2008
[edit] The tagline
I'm going to add a bit about the Tagline. it references the song another brick in the wall and I think it should deserve some mention. 70.64.72.220 (talk) 06:38, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
