...that a School bus crossing arm is a safety device intended to protect children from being struck while crossing in front of a school bus by forcing them to step a distance ahead of the bus and into the driver's view?

I see that a photo has been added to the article. That might cause someone to remove the photo request. NO! Please leave it in, because the current photo is not really adequate. What this article needs is a photo of the crossing arm in its extended position, and preferably from a high angle, which would show how it forces the children to be in the driver's sight. --Keeves 01:50, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
