[edit] third season

Any news of a third season of the anime yet? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.253.186.191 (talk) 01:31, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Until this is confirmed with a cite, it should continue to say that a 3rd season is unconfirmed. BrokenSphereMsg me 01:34, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Word on Veoh has it that it starts in Japan on the Summer of this year (2008) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.161.122.193 (talk) 11:20, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Here's what I've been able to find out: Season 3 seems to be a phantom season, in that the episodes are being 'aired' through synopsis posted on the main SR site every week since March 19th 2008[1] (two 'episodes' a week), but no actual anime is shown. As far as I can tell, the only eps that are actually being animated and released are eps 25 and 26, which are being released with the special editions of the manga volumes[2] making them the OVAs that the wikipedia article mentions. If I could be certain I'd update the main article, but my Japanese skills aren't the best. Omnisentry (talk) 02:20, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Why don't they just animate a 3rd season? The manga is still running so there should be some demand given the gap between this and Nigakki. That scheme sounds odd to say the least. BrokenSphereMsg me 15:49, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
No idea. There's definitely enough material, as can be shown by the way they're putting up the 'Episode synopsis' complete with shots from the manga chapters ('Episode 5' is up today). I dunno, maybe they're gonna tease us like this, release the DVD eps and then animate the rest. Or it may be that I'm misreading the situation, but this is the best I can see at the moment. The DVD eps are shown as 25 and 26 and the site is posting fictional broadcast info for the other eps. Omnisentry (talk) 04:07, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] video games

anyone playing the games? pls expand the video game section. dunno how to sign my name.

[edit] clean up

lots of this article needs to be re-written, and the formatting is a little off as far as anime wikipedia articles go. Examples of good anime / manga articles: Naruto (manga), Azumanga Daioh --Ned Scott 23:32, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

A section on Harima doesn't make sense quite that much to our standard communication. For instance, "but a few people can match him," before this phrase was given it says he isn't a delinquent and is not in any martial arts clubs. The summed up result of what you get from him not being in a martial arts club and a few people that can match him makes it sound confusing. Wouldn't it sound better if you were to say, "but only a few people can match him"? Just to let you know, it only said a few. InternationalEducation 11:34, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Categorization

Why is a category specifically named for this anime, that has as it's parents the exact same two categories that this article is in, not a better category for this article? Pushing articles down into more specific categories is done all the time, and is the normal method of reducing clutter in the more general categories. - TexasAndroid 14:21, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

I agree, but it's useless when there is only one page in that category. When viewing the category listings for Anime or Manga you don't find this article any faster with a "School Rumble" category. If there was more than one School Rumble article then it would make sense.--Ned Scott 21:37, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] US Release

This is more for personal interest than anything else, but has anyone heard anything about a US DVD and/or manga release of School Rumble? Staxringold 11:45, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

I know that the manga is licensed and being sold in English. Erm, just search Amazon.com for "School Rumble". By the way, I don't think the anime (as opposed to the manga) has EVER been licensed. I am correcting it, as there is no source, nor a link to nor name of the company who supposedly did. 134.48.103.32 20:58, 09 May 2006 (GMT)
It has, as noted at Fansub#Recent lawsuits. There just hasn't been any details released about who licensed it and when it will come out. -- Ned Scott 23:45, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Err, correction, it seems that's just the original Japanese company. So... ok, I got nothing. -- Ned Scott 23:47, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
FUNimation has licensed the first two seasons and the OVA. [3] --Remy Suen 19:10, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ep. 7

isn't the reaction in ep. 7 season 2 a parodey about Yakitate!! Japan?! I was pretty sure about it till I read this...

Cooking Master Boy is also a valid referenc, as CMB precedes Yakitate!! Japan. Besides, YJ was mainly about bread making, CMB was definitely more about cooking in general, so the parody would bear more resemblance to that, than to YJ. DigitalDrunkenMonkey 08:50, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Season 2, Episode 21

The following are references I identified while watching the episode. If they are considered relevant to the article, maybe someone can edit them in with a better English than I could.

Cardcaptor Sakura: Mai's outfit is very close to Sakura's outfit, and the sceptre is very close to the design of the Key of the Seal. The wings in the sceptre are a reference to the Windy card. Although Iori is black, the winged design is a close reference to Kero-chan.

Saint Seiya: the greek temple setting in the mountain is a reference to the Sanctuary in Saint Seiya, as well as the idea of passing thru an enemy in such "temple".

Mazinger Z: in the "fusion" animation, the female-looking robot design is a reference to the Aphrodite. --VManOfMana 03:23, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Rinko"

There is a picture of "Rinko" that keeps on being used for Kido Madoka. Just thought like pointing that out.

[edit] More 2-C characters

Shin Misawa and Mina Yukino are missing from the 2-C character list. To the best of my knowledge, the rest of the 2-C classmates remain unnamed, except for a short haired girl named Kaori who is not identifiable in the anime and a boy named Saito who only recently was named in the manga. update: I don't know when you guys are going to add the other 2-C characters, I was looking at the Japanese wiki entry for School Rumble characters and thought I would sum up what they wrote about Mina Yukino:

Mina Yukino - This character's distinguishing feature is her wavy hair. She is often seen in the background with Rinko. She was part of the Tea Shop team during the survival game. It is interesting to note that she has remained unnamed in the manga and that her name was introduced in the anime. She appears on volume 9's cover insert.

Of course this should be rewritten to something more fitting for the english audiences. Goobersnotch

[edit] More detailed character relationships chart is needed

The current one highlights some of the major relationships, but is not enough. We need a more extensive chart, such as this one from Eri Fan Club Propaganda Office (http://efcpo.altervista.org):

http://efcpo.altervista.org/Immagini/%5BEFCPO%5DSchool_Rumble_RChart%5Beng%5D.jpg

It is missing Nagayama Toki x Tanaka Kazuya, however.--ZhangKhaiEn 00:57, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Hmm.. i think you should write more about KarasumaxTenma. Why dont Harima ever give up? It's just like Naruto (Harima) Sakura (Tenma) and Sasuke (Karasuma) from "Naruto" XD well well.. :D 'Cause i think Karasuma loves her o_O

Hum.. dont u think the information on Eri is a bit off, i mean ya it is hinted that she kinda of likes Harima, but in the info it says that after the sports festival she gets angry and jealous at any girl liked to Harima, which only happened few times, and seriously Tenma is just a weird character, who for some reason likes Karasuma, the wackiest animated and other character in this anime. Although main characters are supposed to be Hermia and Tenma, they show more to Tenma's side then Harmia, i just hope in the end Harima ends up with Yukomo, or Eri. ...Chimasternmay...

[edit] Episode 21

In the episode 21 of season 1. Are the two girls appeared who are talking about a make wearing sun-glasses when Hanai come back to the city(just after the opening theme) a parody of Futari wa Pretty Cure. ? I guess they look really similar to the protagonists of Futari wa Pretty Cure. If this is true, we may add this to the travia section. Yiksung 07:41, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Eri and her family

Just a little edit I did, added some information about Eri's family. In episode 11 of the first season, Eri mentions that she's only studying in Japan, her mother runs a company in Sweden.

This might either be a simplification of her situation(she's telling this to a boy who's obviously hitting on her), or may in fact be the truth, 'though I have yet to encounter a scene where she mentions she's actually FROM Sweden. In my personal opinion, this may be a nod to the rather international success of the IKEA company, or perhaps similar to Ericsson (a Swedish cellular phone-company), which only a couple of years ago merged with Sony.

This isn't really all that important, but as a fellow Swede, I want to bring more attention to Eri-chan. ;)

Any thoughts? AnnKalanie

She's from England, actually. And that statement might well be made up to thrwart the guy. Anyways, since it's not confirmed that her mother actually runs a company in Sweden I'll have to remove that, sorry. _dk 09:20, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mugshots

I was looking through the list of class members and several listed don't have any mugshots, was this a conscious choice(since they aren't majorly important to the plot) or are they yet to be added? If the latter is the case, I could probably dig out some good images of the characters. Just a thought. AnnKalanie

I have added mugshots for some characters that didnt have.I will add more if i can. Seriossebi

[edit] Ideas for cleaning up.

Take the following into consideration. Have additonal pages like:

List of Characters in School Rumble - Possibly list this with the Seiyuu?

List of pop culture references in School Rumble - Replacement for the 'Cameos & Parodies' section.

Discuss.

RedEyesMetal 20:19, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

My thoughts exactly. _dk 00:51, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
List of pop culture references in School Rumble sounds like an interesting idea and this article currently reads like it because of the split characters section. --Squilibob 00:40, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Done the first one --Skoban 09:35, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Can someone fix the article for this section? I come to the article to check out the references per episode and it's gone and replaced by a link to a non existant article. What's the deal? Brend0 11:24, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Plagarism?

Is it okay for the wiki article to be pratically copy/pasted on a different site? 203.59.165.76 04:57, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Yes, so long as the GFDL is followed. -- Gwern (contribs) 05:04, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sharp, flat, natural

"The ? chapters 1-7 focus on Yakumo, chapter ?8 focuses on Suou Mikoto and Hanai Haruki, and later ? chapters feature minor characters from the main storyline or ? episodes viewed from an alternative perspective." That's just great for someone without those characters support... Why couldn't it be written sharp, flat or natural instead of each symbol? 200.230.213.152 04:15, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Latest Manga Chapters?

Does anyone know what the latest chapter for the manga is? And on what day the new chapters are being released(so the same as the release day of new issues of Weekly Shonen Magazine - in which School Rumble is serialised)? As far as I'm aware, the latest chapter is 198, which I added along with the 14 volumes. Thanks. Armuk 17:34, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of School Rumble Episodes

Why isn't there a List of School Rumble Episodes? Taipan198 12:39, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Good Idea. I have something called Episode 27 that I was trying to find info on. It's only 11 minutes long. CFLeon 20:44, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Doesn't sound familiar. It's not on the OVA episodes (or some of the segments of those) is it? --BrokenSphereMsg me 21:22, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Without more information on the OVAs, it's difficult to tell; but it's neither of the OVAs that I have seen. After an Intro, there are 3 segments: 'EriXHarima', 'Tenma's Confession', and 'Anirumble Music Video'. CFLeon (talk) 03:03, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Peer Review

I think this article needs a bit of work. I am taking it to Peer review to get ideas for cleaning it up. --Squilibob 07:59, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reference to G.E.999

I think that the ending visuals for the first OVA episode (that was taken from an episode of the original School Rumble anime ) references Galaxy Express 999, during when the camera shows Tenma sleeping on Harima's shoulder and then pans out to reveal the train flying out into space. Dagari 02:20, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes it is, not that it matters. _dk 05:51, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:SR DVD.jpg

Image:SR DVD.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:44, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Characters section

Is it possible to provide a brief overview of the characters in the relevant section on this page without going into too much detail? The info for the charas currently on there is largely duplicated in the List of article, and further repeated with more detail in their individual pages, so largely the same info is mentioned 3 times. --BrokenSphere 21:40, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

I like what you've done with the characters section. Maybe we could put the information in the Plot section after the characters section since the Plot section expands on the summary of characters? --Squilibob 06:56, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
D'oh...I rewrote the chara section without referencing the plot section, so now there's duplicate info in there. I'll look at reconciling the two with migrating info in and out of each as necessary. --BrokenSphere 15:58, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
It should be more in sync now; pulled some details from both sections to have the chara section be more general and focus on the other charas, with info re. Tenma and Harima covered briefly in the plot. --BrokenSphere 18:46, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Source (s) for character vital stats

Some of the characters have birthday, blood type, and height info - what's the source for this information? --BrokenSphere 06:15, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

The trading cards have a lot of personal information on each character. --Squilibob 06:23, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
How would those be cited to? --BrokenSphere 14:54, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Now that I look at it, the Official anime website has things like Blood type and birthday. [4]. --Squilibob 00:10, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
The individual character blurbs are Javascript links, how to cite to those...use the whole page as a ref but mention the character names in kanji? --BrokenSphere 00:47, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
They're images aren't they? Tenma is http://www.school-rumble.net/character/images/chara_01.gif[5] Kenji is http://www.school-rumble.net/character/images/chara_02.gif[6], etc. --Squilibob 00:58, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia

What should we do with all the trivia that is currently commented out? Is any of it notable? --Squilibob 10:51, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

At this point, I don't think it can be merged in anywhere, and based on the example of List of School Rumble season two parodies, which has been tagged for proposed deletion and which is discussed here, can't yet be migrated into its own space. This isn't to say that I think such info isn't useless; I made a backup copy of the SR season 2 parodies in the event that a similar, properly sourced page can be eventually resurrected. The big issue with maintaining such a section and keep it from being nominated for AFD is verifiability; I think that when the series starts coming out later this year, there should be some help there re. cultural references/parodies, and of course the manga's already being released, which has explanatory notes at the end of the volumes. --BrokenSphere 14:45, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mention of the eroge H-game

I question the notability of mentioning this because the studio doesn't even have a Wikipedia page and it's hard to assess the relative importance of these kinds of games unless it did achieve some degree of notability through say notoriety or popularity, which should be verified. BrokenSphereMsg me 16:13, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

RedEyesMetal 22:14, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

As I noted on the template discussion page, the character page categories just changed based on the recommendations on the associated discussion page. Perhaps you can list characters by class, rather than the old main/supporting character designations. --Swampstorm 04:51, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

I've changed the template to include character groups, media info, and music and moved the template to Template:School Rumble to reflect this. The changes are based on a prototype that I was working on as mentioned on the template's talk page. This new version still somewhat draws a distinction between who major/supporting, but not as clearly, listing characters with their own articles. Because of this change, which is now reflected when the template is linked to, I've replaced REM's link to it above with the original coding before my changes were implemented.
