The School District of Lee County manages public education in Lee County, Florida. The current superintendent is Dr. James Browder. As of April 3rd, 2008, there are 78,803 students in the whole district. This years last day of school is on June 6th.

[edit] New Schools For The 2007/2008 Year

*East Zone:
Manatee Elementary - (serving grades K-5) Available for sub zones 1 & 2 and is located on 5321 Tice St., Fort Myers, Fl (East of I-75.)

Treeline Elementary - (serving grades K-5) Available for sub zones 1, 2 & 3 and is temporarily located in the East Staging Area, 1200 Homestead Rd. Lehigh Acres. (Permanent facility will be built on Treeline Boulevard.)

Riverdale Middle – 6th grade only for the 2007/08 school year – then, Oak Hammock Middle School will open for the 2008/09 school year serving students in grades 6-8. The school is available for Sub-zones 1 & 2.

East Lee County High: (serving grades 9-12) Their permanent location will be 715 Thomas Sherwin Ave., Lehigh Acres The school will occupy its permanent facility starting with the 2007/08 school year. The school is available for Sub-zones 2 & 3 and will be an Attractor School for Sub-zone 1.

*West Zone:
Patriot Elementary: (serving grades K-5) Available for sub zones 2 & 3 and is located at 711 SW 18th St., Cape Coral (near Challenger Middle.)

Challenger Middle: (will serve grades 6-8) at their permanent location, 624 Trafalgar Parkway., Cape Coral.

Island Coast High: (will open serving 9th grade only) Available for sub zones 1 & 2 and will be located in staging area at High Tech North, 360 Santa Barbara Blvd. Cape Coral (permanent location to be constructed at 3721 East Gator Cr., Cape Coral, Fl)
