"Schizogeny" is the ninth episode of season 5 of the television series The X-Files. When a teenager is suspected of murdering his stepfather, Mulder and Scully become convinced that a greater evil may be lurking in the community.
[edit] Trivia
- About five minutes into the episode, when Mulder and Scully first arrive at the victim’s home, Mulder says, "How a six foot four 250 pound man was buried alive in less than 5 minutes by a 16 year old kid whose classmates lovingly refer to as dorkweed." However, if you watch David Duchovny's lips, he clearly said "dickweed" originally. Duchovny’s voice saying "dorkweed” has been dubbed over it.
- Mulder says 'Ich bin ein Berliner' should be translated as 'I am a cocktail sausage.' He probably means a "Wiener", while a "Berliner" is a type of jam filled doughnut. In truth, 'Ich bin ein Berliner' is a grammatically correct way of saying 'I am a Berliner.', as in an inhabitant of the city.[Needs Citation] Also just before the Kennedy-line he translates the inscription on a poster in the boy's room - "Ich bin ein Ausländer" - as "I am an outsider". In fact, "Ausländer" means "foreigner."
- The video game Bobby Rich plays during the episode is Shiny Entertainment's MDK.
- It is a second episode that makes reference to a Thrash Metal band Megadeth (the first one being Die Hand Die Verletzt, with Mulder saying to Scully: "Better hide your Megadeth albums"). About 6 minutes into the episode camera centers on a wall covered in posters one of them being the cover of Megadeths 1990 album Rust in Peace.
