Schœlcher is the fourth-largest commune in the French overseas département of Martinique.
It is located on the west (Caribbean Sea) side of the island of Martinique, and is part of the metropolitan area of Fort-de-France, the largest conurbation in Martinique. In the 1999 census, Schœlcher had a population of 20,845. The commune has a land area of 22.95 km² (8.842 sq mi).
