From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Very old accepted public image of Schneur Zalman of Liadi of Lubavitch. The portrait was drawn at least 150 years ago. In the Book Beis Rebbe (PDF) (Hebrew) the author writes that the portrait was found in the portrait archives of Prince Tishkewitz by a Jewish artist, and verified as Schneur Zalman of Liadi by 1) His name, town (Liadi), and year of incarceration (1798), which appeared on the portrait. 2) The Kapuster Rebbe who had seen a son (R. Chaim Avraham) who was known to have a strong resemblance of his father. 3) A scar on his face which he was known to have.
