Some handy links

I've been somewhat ill since early April. I'm decreasing my activity a bit, but this may not be that noticeable.
A friend of mine was involved in a motorcycling accident a few days ago. From what I know, he's in intensive care right now, but the outlook is optimistic.

Sceptre's talk page

Guidelines for my talk page:
If you have a query about my vandalism reverts, please see this FAQ before you comment on this page.
If I haven't edited in twenty-four hours, please consult a user on my "helpful people" list.
  • Remember to create a new section for each new topic (you can do this by pressing the '+' link or the "edit" next to "Sceptre's talk page"), and remember to sign your posts with ~~~~.
  • If you think I've made a mistake in reverting, revert it back and feel free to remove the warning. Please refrain from posting here - doing so creates clutter and means I have to archive my talk page faster than I should.
  • Due to a long-standing conflict I entered myself in two years ago, I will not mediate disputes on my page. I will give advice, but it is nonbinding.
  • I should respond within 24 hours, if I feel there is a need to respond, and unless you have an openly stated policy on conversation, or request for me to reply here, I will reply on your page.
  • Any questions about the bot should mention the word "bot" in the level header, and any requests for the bot should go to bot request subpage.
  • Any messages should be in English, and as clear and as legible as possible. As long as I know what you're saying to me, it's okay.
  • If you have a request for me, please be aware that, unless dictated by policy or behavioural guideline, a member of the Arbitration Committee or Wikimedia Foundation (either paid employee or advisory board), or Jimbo Wales, I am not bound by your request, but will take it into consideration.
  • Please remain civil at all times, and please, under any circumstances, do not refer to me as a Nazi - I'm much more liberal than that.
  • Please do not put substituted warnings on my talk page - I've been a member of Wikipedia for nearly three years and I was an admin for seven months, so you think of a warning, I've blocked for it, so I do know most of our policies. An exception to this is image warnings, as they serve to be informative too.
  • The page will be archived after 40 headings.
  • I reserve the right to remove any threads or revert any edits that I perceive to be in bad faith.
Violations of these guidelines may result in your post being removed or ignored.

BetaCommand Bot

Thanks for reverting the Image:WhyMenRule change by the bot. I was a little surprised by a second notification. S'pose bots are only as good as their programs, and those are only as good as fallible programmers. I speak from experience as a programmer for a life insurance company in the dim dark past. Anyway, thanks again. Have a nice day. :) Alastair Haines 12:52, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I'm Tech43, and as you see this user dosen't have a fondness of me. I see you filed a treport. I just wanted to let you know I was in an unfortunate edit war eith him last night, and am lucky i didn't get blocked. I'm saying thank you, because this guy has caused me alot of headaches. Please let me help in getting him blocked. Tech43 21:10, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Your note

I removed that thread because it contained clear violations of BLP, with numerous unsourced defamatory allegations against a living person. The only practical method to undo it is by removal of the entire thread, which I did. You claim I have done this before, can you be more specific? Thanks, Crum375 03:48, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

I am sorry to bother you, but you say "the time you removed ANI threads and the such for a similar reason was, IIRC, the whole thing about SV's identity that exploded from WR (where it was brewing for months) to something like a media source." Could you possibly find a diff that shows I have removed any thread, anywhere on WP, that was properly sourced? Thanks, Crum375 16:54, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
You gave me a link to a deletion log, not a diff. I am not aware of ever deleting or reverting any thread that was properly sourced. If you do have something concrete, please provide the diff, and we can discuss. In the case you mention, I did not delete any thread, and if you can find a diff showing otherwise, that would be much appreciated. Thanks, Crum375 17:09, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Also, if there is some personal or private information involved, feel free to contact me by email. Thanks, Crum375 17:12, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Note on ANI

Hi, that was my edit that Crum deleted. It was actually a note I made on the Durova Arbcom page, as a suggestion that COI warnings need to be instituted. JzG put it on the ANI board, as I had asked him where I could propose the COI warnings. He didn't inform me of this, so when Crum 375 showed up on my talk page, full of accusations of BLP, NPA, CIVIL, YOUNAMEIT, I had no idea what Crum was talking about. At first I thought Crum was talking about my edit to the Ruud Lubbers article on Village Pump. Then I thought it was about a post I made over a week ago. I had no idea that there was anything from me on any ANI, but Crum kept attacking me with NPA and AGF and BLP violation accusations (none founded) so I didn't figure out what Crum was talking about til I did a bit of research - but only after Crum had thrown two full pages of didactical directions to me, and after Crum had informed me that I had to make an Arbcom case (which I had no interest in doing) - whereas I actually had no idea what Crum was talking about. (go check it out, three pages of it)

So now I am going to post something on this matter to the ANI board. I really don't want to talk to Crum anymore. If you can please explain to Crum this fact, I'd be grateful, because for the past few hours, Crum has been loading my talk page with accusations - and as I said, I had no idea even what Crum was talking about.

I'll repost the material with annotations in a few hours. I fully expect Crum to attack with greater vigor. Crum has informed me that it is likely that whatever I put up will be immediately pulled down, with the false presumption that I dont know how to annonate adequately. Please explain to Crum that being civil is a two-way expectation, and that accusing someone unjustifiable of NPA, and BLP is not nice, and that if a person continually ignores your 4-5 requests to be "not bothered please", that mild sarcasm as a response is not WP:CIVIL. It is WP:SANE. Thanks! 85.5.180.9 04:16, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Barnstar

Hi Sceptre, thanks for the Barnstar. It makes things like this worthwhile. I am currently standardising the sizes so that the infoboxes and the junction list on M62 looks neater. Regan123 13:39, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

List of designated terrorist organizations

I'm happy for all the unsourced stuff to go, but your latest change removed a number of listed organisations that had refs, while keeping organisations from the same ref without any rationale. -- Mark Chovain 21:27, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

You're kidding, right? There are already heaps of referenced orgs in there. You don't seriously expect others to go through and manually reinsert these, do you? Why not just remove the unsourced entries? Why do you think it's better that we remove sourced entries only to put them back in? Am I missing something fundamental here? -- Mark Chovain 21:33, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Excellent job - it looks much better now. I'll hopefully get a chance to clean it up further over the next couple of days (I especially hate many of the indented bits). -- Mark Chovain 21:59, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for closing the discussion so soon -- I did reopen it as you asked. I would say that now it qualifies for WP:SNOW closure, and would re-close it myself if not for the fact that one of the keep votes is my own. Ten Pound Hammer(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 23:07, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Deletion notice is not minor!

You do realize that putting something up/noting something is put up for deletion nom is not actually, really, a particularly "minor" edit, right (I'm referring here to Glossary of fan fiction terms)? Considering it concerns the entire future or lack thereof of the article? I almost missed it. ;_; Next time, please don't mark such an edit as "minor", OK? Thanks. Runa27 00:12, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Jeff Gerstmann

Please note that I have issued a formal 3RR violation for Toadstool1969 over this article. Do note that I have explained that you've done as many reverts now as he, but by the BLP stipulation/allowance, I'm pretty sure you're in the clear about it. --MASEM 01:07, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Sceptre, please see our discussion on BirdKr's talk page. And Sceptre, please do try to be civil. You were told this once in the article's discussion page. Wikipedia cannot work if users are belligerent towards one another. This still holds true even for elitist ex-admins, even if they are crusading against those whom they see as POV-pushers. 69.138.16.202 (talk) 02:18, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm unlikely to get to them until the weekend due to work taking over my life again. There are also about 8 existing signs that need sizing properly. Apologies for the delay. --Regan123 (talk) 00:39, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Does that mean Portal? I can understand either A) It has a different name or B) You're trying to be funny. But still. wikt:valve and wikt:portal. Check that, I believe they're different. And jeez, you stop by and don't even bring cake? --tennisman 13:11, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Wow. /me needs to think a bit; I'm only in school right now, why bother with that seemingly extraneous hunk of misfiring machinery others call a "brain"? --tennisman 13:15, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Hey, you know a bit about code, right? (Asking anyway) Any idea as to why Internet Explorer makes the center column in my userpage all skinny? It starts out fine but as the page loads it resizes the center to maybe 1/6th its actual size. Thoughts? --tennisman 13:18, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
I see what you did, but, viewed in IE 7, I still have the same problem. I wish I could use Firefox at school, but it won't let meaccess Portable off my flash drive. Still about 50 or so pixels wide; displaying maybe half of the "EN" in my User EN userbox. Wonder what's up? --tennisman 16:06, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
I figured it out: You had ; _width:250px, and it should be just ; width:250px, without the underscore. Thanks for the help there; wouldn't have gotten that without you. --tennisman 16:27, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Re: Wikipedia:WikiProject Avatar: The Last Airbender/season 1

IT's going fine. Someone came along, tagged the pages as not meeting WP:EPISODE, and the consensus was tilted the other way. Currently, the episode summaries are being worked on and we are looking for refrences for the production. The plan is to work on all three seasons in project space, and when they are all finished, move them to the 'pedia and nominate the first two seasons for GA and FA. You want to help? Fair use rationale for Image:Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection logo.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection logo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FunPika 23:59, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:My Old Lady.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:My Old Lady.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. First thing that strikes me is that there is an awful lot of OR in there, especially in relation to live performances, which will never get through a GA review. Also, some copyright issues in relation to the spoken introductions- and not quite sure how much the Collins intro (with Romeo & Juliet) adds to an understanding of the piece. I have a free day tomorrow so I'll try to pin down some of the references. --Rodhullandemu (please reply here - contribs) 20:27, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
