Guidelines for my talk page:
If you have a query about my vandalism reverts, please see this FAQ before you comment on this page.
If I haven't edited in twenty-four hours, please consult a user on my "helpful people" list.
  • Remember to create a new section for each new topic (you can do this by pressing the '+' link or the "edit" next to "Sceptre's talk page"), and remember to sign your posts with ~~~~.
  • If you think I've made a mistake in reverting, revert it back and feel free to remove the warning. Please refrain from posting here - doing so creates clutter and means I have to archive my talk page faster than I should.
  • Due to a long-standing conflict I entered myself in two years ago, I will not mediate disputes on my page. I will give advice, but it is nonbinding.
  • I should respond within 24 hours, if I feel there is a need to respond, and unless you have an openly stated policy on conversation, or request for me to reply here, I will reply on your page.
  • Any questions about the bot should mention the word "bot" in the level header, and any requests for the bot should go to bot request subpage.
  • Any messages should be in English, and as clear and as legible as possible. As long as I know what you're saying to me, it's okay.
  • If you have a request for me, please be aware that, unless dictated by policy or behavioural guideline, a member of the Arbitration Committee or Wikimedia Foundation (either paid employee or advisory board), or Jimbo Wales, I am not bound by your request, but will take it into consideration.
  • Please remain civil at all times, and please, under any circumstances, do not refer to me as a Nazi - I'm much more liberal than that.
  • Please do not put substituted warnings on my talk page - I've been a member of Wikipedia for nearly three years and I was an admin for seven months, so you think of a warning, I've blocked for it, so I do know most of our policies. An exception to this is image warnings, as they serve to be informative too.
  • The page will be archived after 40 headings.
  • I reserve the right to remove any threads or revert any edits that I perceive to be in bad faith.
Violations of these guidelines may result in your post being removed or ignored.

Thank you! :)

That's such a beautiful cat, my dear Will - thank you so much! My talk page seems to be filling lately with pictures of lovely cats, how did you even knew I love them? Anyway, hun, I didn't want to go to bed before thanking you - the 4th of July has been tough on me, and I've hardly had any sleep in the last day; but in the meantime, beutiful messages have appeared in my talk page and I "always" reply, even if it takes me some time. I hope you're doing great, and enjoy this - you deserve it! Hugs, Phædriel tell me - 00:27, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Article size and Request for page protection

You did close the nomination at WP:RFD, but you forgot to delete those pages above which are cross-namespace redirects into Wikipedia namespaces. -- ADNghiem501 02:15, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia was being so slow about loading that page (80sec+), and my sister was being rather bitchy, I totally forgot about them. Sorry! Will (message me!) 08:55, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
I've deleted them. (Also it was Request for page protection, not Requests, so I changed the heading accordingly – Gurch 12:29, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Sabotage

Hi you recently changed the Fudoshin Ryu discussion page. My IP addresses are 81.79.203.123 84.66.71.67 . I was removing a previous comment of mine, along with a comment that someone had tagged onto the end of mine without proper formatting. I did not want this associated with me. I also placed suggestions that we could talk like adults. This was removed. I have removed the comment again, but without posting a new one. I hope this is to your satisfaction. You're on Wikibreak?

Oh, no, Will hun, don't tell me you're actually taking a few days off WP?? How do you manage to do that? Do they sell some anti-Wikiholism pills over there? Cause if they do, I want at least a ton of them...

Seriously, not much going on over here. I'm super-sleepy right now, so let me tell you, I wrote a good resume at Snopake's talk page yesterday. As you see, I'm just a bit down, bored, no big emotions, and looking forward to my vacation, that's about all. Btw, let me tell you I've "never" felt so unique as I did by reading your thoughts about my ancestry! :) (well, my brothers share it, but I'm still pretty rare - yay! :) Hope you're doing great, and I wish I can see you before I drop off for a few days. Ciao, fellow 24 fan.

Well, I'm dropping by to say hi. You like 24 too, eh? It's one of my favorite shows. It's rainy over here, and very dreary. Everyone on my Google Talk and Win Live Messenger is offline (poo) and I have to wait like 3 friggin' days until my parents drive me up to the Canadian border where I'll meet my cousin Chelsea. (it's not very far- I live in the Racing Capital of the World) :P So, how are you? I've got nothing to do. Ciao! Øřêōş 16:17, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

Hi, I would like to express my gratitude for your participation at my recent RfA. The final vote was 68/21/3 and resulted in me becoming an admin!

For those of you who supported my RfA, I highly appreciate your kind words and your trust in me. For those who opposed - many of you expressed valid concerns regarding my activity here; I will make an effort in addressing them as time goes on while at the same time using my admin tools appropriately. So, salamat, gracias, merci, ありがとう, спасибо, धन्यवाद, 多謝, agyamanak unay, شكرًا, cảm ơn, 감사합니다, mahalo, ขอบคุณครับ, go raibh maith agat, dziękuję, ευχαριστώ, Danke, תודה, mulţumesc, გმადლობთ, etc.! You are harrasing me. I have never used sockppupet and when I am forced to use an anon IP (when you block me) I sign my name since I have nothing to hide.

I suggest you quickly unblock me and appologize or I will start a process to de-admin you. Zeq 07:49, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

using this diff [1] you can see the address I am using has nothing to do with Homey false accusations. Ig you have any accusation against me I demand that you bring it to An/I board instead of taking harrasing action against me. Zeq.

I denied Zeq's unblock request, but in the future when you block someone please take the time to leave them a message on their talk page. It would be very frustrating to be blocked and not know what's going on. Have a nice trip to Belgium (sounds fun!) Mangojuicetalk 13:51, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Comanche and Supermos vs consensus in Scandinavia

These two editors constantly push their own POV on Scandinavia, even to the point that they ignore quotes from the encyclopedias of Columbia [2], Britannica, and Encarta [3]. Zeq's blocking

Please see my comments on Zeq's talk: page, or on the CheckUser request page. I think you have made an entirely understandable error in good faith, and recommend that you unblock him. Jayjg (talk) 17:30, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Homey's done it. Thanks for letting me know anyway :) Will (message me!) 17:47, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
This is your 3rd time. I have told you before: If you enjoy blocking me, this is not a problem, I am willing to be blocked -we can cordinate time in adavance and you can use the block button on your dash board. For example tomorow, I will not be using wikipedia so you can block me from 10 hours fron now until 8 hours later (make it 24 if you really must) enjoy the use of the tools (as long as they are available) and have a nice day. Zeq 18:21, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

De-admining

I have not seen sufficient justification for a request for deadminning, but I'll admit I have not looked either. However I wanted to say I applaud the notion of people being willing to voluntarily step down if others feel there is a significant problem. If only some of the long-timers had that same willingness. My only suggestion is just to remember to be conservative, particularly when blocking. Blocks are for damage control, not punishment. To me, the mark of a good admin is not in a lack of making mistakes, but in how they respond when mistakes are pointed out to them. Friday (talk) 19:49, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Zeq's recent complaint is about me blocking him for sockpuppetry (Homey had sent me an email about the IP's edit pattern (to a Zeq-banned article and Zeq's user page) and he said he traced the IP to Israel (where Zeq lives)). It transpired, however, that I was wrong. After a few blocked people have complained and said I should not be an admin, I thought that perhaps I should see if I have the community's trust. Will (message me!) 19:53, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Well, of course the people getting blocked complain- heck, if all admins took such complaints to heart, we'd have no admins left! Anyone can make a mistake, that's no big deal at all. Friday (talk) 19:59, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
I came under fire for a string of three deletions in one day last month. I think my performance as an admin is slipping, as a whole Will (message me!) 20:02, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
You're a good admin. We're all entitled to screw up every now and then as we're only human. Don't de-admin and re-RFA yourself (please). — Nathan (talk) / 20:39, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Will, You are a good admin, you just act in an impulasive way. This is reasonable for people at an older age to be less impulsive and let the facts clarify before taking an action. Of course, sometimes a quick action is needed but ask yourself are you an SAS fighter breaking into a home of a suppected terrorist and coming under a threat that makes you shot ina split second to save your life and neutrelize a threat ? or maybe running an encyclopedia can be something that is given more time before you hastly press the block butten ? Zeq 04:27, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

As I said the other day, I am sorry I should have been clearer with you. The email I sent you was as follows:

I suspect that Zeq evaded his ban at Operation Summer Rains (see the tag on top of Talk:Operation Summer Rains) by posting as an anon IP, 199.203.179.197 which I have traced to Herzlia, Israel using http://www.hostip.info/ That anon IP has not only posted to Operation Summer Rains but also to Zeq's user page which suggests it is Zeq's IP account doing the posting.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Zeq#EnforcementI

I assumed you knew about checkuser and would use it if you thought the information I sent to you had merit. I was trying to avoid telling you what to do which is why I only presented the facts I had and didn't try to advise you by saying "he should be banned" or "he should be warned" etc but, in retrospect, I should have clearly suggested you use checkuser and not assumed you would. Again, my apologies for not being clear.Homey 20:44, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Dora Venter AfD

You reopened a second AfD on Dora Venter at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dora Venter (2nd nomination) after the first one was messed with by User:Haham hanuka, the article's creator. Now Haham hanuka closed the 2nd nomination as keep despite no decision in that way (I know we don't vote, but nose count says 8-5 for delete, 2 of the keeps being weak keeps), at best this is no consensus. I reverted his closing of it as he is too involved to be closing it. Do you have any thoughts on this? Metros232 15:56, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

AfD Lists of Foo by Bar

  • To both User:Mailer diablo and User:Sceptre - You were the closing admins on AfD List of JPN PM by long and AfD List of UK PM by long, respectively. I admit I am new to WP, and my intent is not to use the justification of one admin to change the decision of another. I would guess that that either or both of these will end up in WP:DRV, where unfortunately, that argument may come up. Instead, my question is would these be good candidates for WP:AFDP? I read that it is not policy, but thought that these type of discussion will probably come up again and it would be handy to have it listed. -- MrDolomite | Talk 13:56, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
