[edit] Legend of Zelda Categories

Hi. I noticed that you have created a new category for Category:The Legend of Zelda characters and moved the contents from Category:Legend of Zelda characters. Unfortunately, this appears to have bypassed the Wikipedia:Categories for deletion process, which allows other editors the chance to support or reject the renaming proposal. I will now place both the old and new categories on the "categories for deletion" page so that other editors can either accept or reject your changes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. :) Road Wizard 06:12, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

  • I have started a discussion at Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 June 3 where you can either comment or vote on whether to keep your changes. I am also including the other Legend of Zelda categories you have created in the same discussion. Road Wizard 06:51, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
    • Please can you stop moving the Legend of Zelda articles between the categories? Articles shouldn't be moved between the disputed categories once the discussion has begun at CfD as this will only create more work for the admins if the decision goes the opposite way. Thanks. Road Wizard 09:53, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Blair Witch 3: The Prequel

Do not remove AFD tags from articles while the debate is still underway. If you feel the article has value and should be kept, go to the AFD page, and cast your vote in the debate. But never remove a tag from an article, it is considered vandalism. ---Charles 19:44, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

You are correct. I did not read the history closely enough. I apologize. I will post a warning on the anonymous user's page. Thank you for pointing this out. ---Charles 19:53, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 2old2play not an advertisement

2old2play is not an advertisement .. i guess i do alot of things by posting on the Category Downloadable magazines , it's too much work to find downloadable magazine to put it on that section i have more to add , so i must hurry up to fill out the Downloadable magazines

[edit] Americanisation of spelling on WYSIWYG

I note you changed the spelling on WYSIWYG to US English. While I'm not about to object to this, I thought you might not have encountered the Wikipedia guideline against doing this, and that pointing it out now could save you trouble in future:

"If an article is predominantly written in one type of English, aim to conform to that type rather than provoking conflict by changing to another. (Sometimes, this can happen quite innocently, so please do not be too quick to make accusations!)" Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English JulesH 13:05, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Zelda

I have a question for you. I saw the WikiProject about Zelda and I was wondering if anyone is allowed to join and help out. If so, could I? I love the Zelda series and would really like to help make it's Wiki articles better and more organized. --Superneoking 22:29, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Sure! Just go to Wikipedia:WikiProject The Legend of Zelda series and add yourself under 1.4, participants. :) Scepia 22:30, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you. :) --Superneoking 22:32, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I've responded on my talkpage. And for an example of what I did with the boss page see here: [1]. Furthur details on User talk:Megaman Zero -ZeroTalk 22:20, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the support

Thank you for supporting my m:Medical dictionary wiki. It'll probably go nowhere, since no one wants to be liable for it. Oh well... I guess this'll be one topic not influenced by the wiki. —THIS IS MESSEDImage:R with umlaut.pngOCKER (TALK) 21:46, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Humour

I did read the talk page after you wrote there, (I even replied), however, I still think that the spelling should reflect the title; having disparate spellings hinders rather than helps Wikipedia by being less clear and being less professional ('look at this so-called encyclopedia, they don't even know which spelling to use in this article'), and changing the text as you did didn't give any benefits (that I could see).

If the title were 'humor' rather than 'humour' then of course it would be spelled like that throughout; however this needs consensus to change (and does it give any extra benefit to users anyway?). In any case, I will make sure the article does stay consistant throughout myself --iamajpeg 17:52, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi again, an intelligent conversation sounds great to me :) . By what I said before, what I meant was that I assume you want to move the whole article to 'humor' (right?) , which is why I put about the consensus - if you propose to move it based on the fact the first main contributor used Am English then I definitely wouldn't vote against this, but if you do it without a vote or something there'll be all sorts of revert-horrorshows. But until then spellings should be consistent within the article in Eng English (see here)
Also we obviously know English in different ways - please understand (as I said on the talk page) that humour does make more sense to me then humor, and I think the same probably applies to other people, ie those who are Eng English speakers. Both language variants have bits that make less sense to the other, so hey it's not as if there's a best variant (that would make things easier though!). And sorry if I'm missing your point completely --iamajpeg 22:02, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

That's very interesting, and yes the benefits could be massive - although I doubt many people would accept it. As far as Wikipedia goes, editors like me wouldn't accept reformed English yet because it's not an accepted, standardised widespread use of English. One thing, why 'humor'? As far as I know, most people pronounce it with an 'er' sound, so why not 'humer'? And how do you standardise spellings for a language with so many existing pronounciations anyway? --iamajpeg 20:50, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Legend of Zelda Categories

As someone who has previously voted or commented at the recent CfD discussion about the naming of Legend of Zelda categories, I thought I would let you know that I have started a new discussion in an attempt to reach a consensus. The current position of having 2 sets of categories serving the exact same purpose is unsustainable, and we need to reach a consensus on which set should be removed. If you have previously voted on this proposal, I would ask you to reconsider your vote, and ask yourself whether you are willing to give a little ground in order to reach a compromise. This is a generic message I am leaving for everyone who took part in the previous discussion. Thank you for your time. Road Wizard 14:30, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Further to my comment above, I am letting you know that Proposal 1 (merging all game sub-categories) has been successful, and I will be relisting it at CfD later today. Of the renaming proposals, only option 7 appears to have gained a consensus in support. However, I am going to leave that discussion open a few more days as we have had a related proposal (No. 11) that has not yet been discussed. Please use this time to consider whether you wish to support or oppose the new proposal, or in any way change your previous votes. I will be reassessing the situation at about 18:00, 6 July 2006 (UTC). Road Wizard 19:36, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Stub template

Now that I think about it... no. Sorry, I thought it needed a design to be nominated. If you want to delete it, feel free. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 08:12, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

I was sure there was a proposal being processed. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 08:22, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Was a stub ever filed for that project, they have it listed there. Hey Fanboy ;) Highway Rainbow Sneakers 08:33, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Was there never a note on the project page to nominate a stub. I never added the link, it was there to start with. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 08:37, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Do you need a certain amount of articles? Highway Rainbow Sneakers 08:54, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Yes. I think the only use it could be used for is as a section template, since most of the articles are lists. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 09:29, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Well, talking is not working as you can see

It's clear that some people are refusing the accept the fact that The US flag does NOT represent North America. This is pure discrimination, that alone is against Wikipedia rules, on top of everything else if I may add.

Added a reply on my talk page, just letting you know

[edit] Wii

The reason I reverted that is because the current design is the one used in almost every video game article (whether you like it or not), and there isn't a consensus to change it (how you think a consensus can be reached in less than 1 day is beyond me). Also, the look you changed it do is the ugliest infobox design i've ever seen. TJ Spyke 00:49, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

1)It just about doubled the length of the infobox. 2)It was just plain ugly. I prefer flags, but I change it to symbols like the Final Fantasy pages use (check Final Fantasy X). This is more neutral, and has links to articles on the region to make it clear. TJ Spyke 00:56, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
It's better than the option you had (which you made without consensus, at least the one I made has the approval of WP:CVG). Also, all they have to do is move their mouse over it to see what page it links to since those are all links (i.e. ITL links to Italy). TJ Spyke 01:04, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
It HAD flags, but you wanted to make it butt ugly and this is the better option.

[edit] Linkspam

I noticed that you added a link to an outside Zelda site to The Legend of Zelda: The Triforce Trilogy. This is linkspam. Don't do it, it will only get reverted and get you blocked. Scepia 06:59, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

It was a reference being re-added because the url of that page had changed.

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:NaNoWriMo logo.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:NaNoWriMo logo.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 12:33, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Zeldaproj

I see you tried to modify this template to simply transclude Template:cvgproj directly rather than explicitly using a subst: version of it, but you couldn't get the class/importance variables to work. I made a modification that simply passes those parameters to Template:cvgproj if present. Let me know on my talk page if you see any problems. --Dgies 16:51, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Gary Valentine Lachman

You added a query about notability for the entry so I have expanded it with some details. It still needs fleshing out but I think I have done enough to demonstrate his notability. I didn't want to remove the tags myself without checking with you first. See the talk page for further discussion. (Emperor 16:30, 3 December 2006 (UTC))

[edit] iPhone

I'm not sure what your purpose of removing the Linksys redirect at iPhone is. There is a line at the top of the Linksys article that explains why iPhone redirects there, and also mentions the Apple link. Lots of people are likely to search for iPhone, and doesn't it make more sense for them to go to a page with at least some explanation than an unfriendly deleted template? —Cleared as filed. 05:09, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

But it's an actual, released Linksys product. We're an encyclopedia, not a popularity contest. When people look up iPhone, they should be told what it actually is, not what a whole lot of people think it is or want it to be. —Cleared as filed. 05:25, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia isn't a popularity contest, and it's not "the people's encyclopedia." It's not a democracy. The iPhone, as it relates to the unannounced, unreleased, non-existant Apple product has been barred from having an article via the AFD process. The Linksys iPhone is a legitimate product, not just a reserved trademark, and not just a whimsical fantasy like the Apple iPhone. This is an encyclopedia, not a fantasy blog. There are already plenty of those for people who want to speculate about Apple's plans. Putting a useless "deleted" template there instead of a link to the legitimate product just seems to speak to your bitterness about losing the AFD process, not an actual desire to have an accurate encyclopedia. —Cleared as filed. 05:56, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Your wiki-lawyering is pointless. The upshot is still that you would rather have a useless template than an actual legitimate redirect. If you think an Apple iPhone article really belongs there, why don't you put one there? If you admit that it doesn't, then it should link to the real iPhone. The template has no place there. —Cleared as filed. 06:11, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merge?

Hi there. I see you've placed merge tags to move Multiplayer game into Computer and video games. About the Star Fox userbox that is now "yours" due to userbox migration, instead of keepin the words "Star Fox" in the ID box, couldn't you use the Star Fox logo (located at Image:StarFoxlogo.JPG)? Just a suggestion. ChromeWulf ZX 19:01, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
