[edit] Wording of Userbox
A user has apparently complained that the original wording of the Userbox ("This user believes that The Economist is the voice of sanity") is divisive, and so User:Grandmasterka has changed it to its current neutrel formula ("This user reads The Economist"). My preference would be to change it back to the former humorous wording (on the basis that it isn't a frickin' article and if anyone doesn't like it, they don't have to put it on their userpage - or they can create their own, appropriately phrased userbox), but I am happy to go with the majority vote on the issue. Legis 07:45, 12 September 2006 (UTC) (dedicated Economist reader).
- Well, rightly or wrongly I am going to take that as a vote of 1-0 in favour of reverting. If anyone seriously objects, we can revisit. Legis 07:38, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

- Object! That violates CSD T1. If you revert to that again, I will again put up a speedy tag. Many other templates, like User:UBX/Communist and others (see WP:UBD) were deleted because they were divisive and inflammatory.72.139.119.165 20:32, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

- My mistake. I also violated the other Wikipedia rule: "assume no sense of humour". Legis 07:37, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

I reverted it. To call that userbox (userbox!!) inflammatory &/or divisive (which one was it, anyway?) is just plain silly. It's a humourous userbox about a fricking 150-year old independent news magazine! Is something divisive and inflammatory just because one bloke says it is?? Golly gee willickers, stop being so petty. 12.64.24.59 02:35, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- See WP:UBD and WP:CSD#T1. It divides users into pro and anti camps about that magazine. If User:UBX/Communist is divisive, then this one is as well (in your version). 72.139.119.165 22:24, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
Actually it says that Userboxes must not be inflammatory and divisive, which (on an ordinary interpretation) is a conjunctive requirement, not a disjunctive one. However, if Userboxes have to comply with the lowest level of tolerance on Wikipedia, then I suppose you are right - the small minded will aways win in the end. Legis 10:03, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
