The Canyon Lizard (Sceloporus merriami) is a species of lizard native to the southern United States in the state of Texas, and northern Mexico in the states of Coahuila, Durango and Chihuahua. The epithet merriami is in honor of American zoologist Clinton Hart Merriam.[1]

There are seven recognized subspecies of S. merriami:
- Big Bend Canyon Lizard, Sceloporus merriami annulatus (Smith, 1937)
- Southeastern Canyon Lizard, Sceloporus merriami australis (Williams, Smith & Chrapliwy, 1960)
- Ballinger’s Canyon Lizard, Sceloporus merriami ballingeri (Lemos-Espinal, Smith, Auth & Chiszar, 2001)
- Presidio Canyon Lizard, Sceloporus merriami longipunctatus (Olson, 1973)
- Merriam's Canyon Lizard, Sceloporus merriami merriami (Stejneger, 1904)
- Sanoja's Canyon Lizard, Sceloporus merriami sanojae (Lemos-Espinal & Chiszar, 2003)
- Williams’ Canyon Lizard, Sceloporus merriami williamsi (Lemos-Espinal, Chiszar & Smith, 2000)
