RfA - User:AlanH

That's fine. I just mostly wanted the quick-revert tool - any way I can use that w/o being an admin?

I will check out the pages you linked me to and will be sure to contact you about WP:COACH if I want to try to be an admin again. Thanks for the generous offer & kind advice. --AlanH (talk) 15:40, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Your NPWatcher application

Dear Scarian,

Thank you for applying for NPWatcher! Unfortunately, your application has been declined because you've made only a handful of CSD in December, and not many even earlier, and the denied request are, unfortunately, too many compared to the sum of your nominations. As such, I am uncomfortable in favourably processing your application. We will surely welcome an application in the future.

Ah, and many thanks for reminding me of the backlog, I definitively forgot about it :) Good luck, Snowolf How can I help? 21:51, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which I withdrew with 5 support, 14 oppose, and 9 neutral. Thank you for your comments! Whether it was a support, oppose, or neutral, I likely got some good feedback from you. I will probably do another RfA in the future, but not until I work out the issues brought up.

Just that one article. By my edit summary. An international subject should never have a national cat. A "nationalist" is trying to claim that article for his own country. It is clearly an international subject and should never be linked to any one particular country. Their are probably more pages like this one. This is the only one I am watchlisting. 156.34.142.110 (talk) 19:22, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Vandalize

I am not vandalizing. You don't even know what trivia or verifiable means, why do you continue vandalizing my edits??? --82.185.106.178 (talk) 16:27, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

I already explained my edits. I can't understand why the section which I added is thought to be trivia, while the information which I removed is not. --82.185.106.178 (talk) 07:44, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Your opinion

This edit (read the edit summary carefully) is Libs pushing the limits of WP:BOLD and exposing Libsy's "plus grande nads" to all Wiki and seeing just how long it takes a logo crufter to rv the edit. I believe, based on both the policy and the long overdue discussion on it... that the edit is a valid one. Wikipedia, by it's own mandate, is to be a free encyclopedia promoting free-use content when/wherever possible. You just cannot get any more free-use than plain text. Most bands copyright their logos and therefore using them requires well worded fair-use rationale. And if free-use always wins out over fair-use... I think my edit summary is noble, just and true. Time will tell. Do you agree? Do you disagree? Do you have a third opinion. I would be most interested in finding out. And I invite you to go ahead and invite anyone you wish into the conversation. Perhaps the discussion can be moved to my static IP page where it can be an informal chat... rather than a discussion... leading to consensus... leading to guidelines... leading to policies... and all that other Wiki-crap :D . Does free-use always win? I think Wikipedia was built on the foundation of "free-use". What are your thoughts? 156.34.225.75 (talk) 01:41, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

The discussion continues on both the template page and the WP:MUSIC page. It's really hitting the nail on the head. Wikipedia is for everyone... and free-use always wins out over fair-use. I could have picked any article as a test(I actually did the same test on the Def Leppard article a few weeks ago and it was reverted by a crufter) The Iron Maiden logo does in fact have a very good chance at "fair-use" placement right in the text of the article. Unlike other bands that have their logos corporate designed by record labels' PR departments... Iron Maiden's logo was hand drawn/han designed by Steve Harris very early in the bands career. He had the logo before he had a stable lineup of the band itself. That is an interesting bit of the bands history and the logo could be added in right along with it.... TaDa.... fair-use. Navlos and his school chum are the ones who up'd all the logos and they're the one's who are going to 'racing stripe their diapers' when they see Wikipedia start to eliminate all their hard work. I feel so bad about that :D . 156.34.213.216 (talk) 11:38, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Unfair deletion

Hi there, I see you keep posting a COI on the Rusty Eye article (and now the user Chubbles is threatening to delete it). The page looks fine to me, but if you wish to contribute to provide a "Neutral Point of View", you are more than welcome to do so. For more reliable information, you can contact the PR guy link DMPR or just search thoroughly on the web. There is plenty of good sources and articles around (Metal Edge, Music Connection, LA Times, Metal-Archives, UVTV, Moshking, Ytsejam, Scratch Magazine, Highwire Daze, Rock City News, Voltcase Magazine, All Music Guide, BlabberMouth.Net, Metalraw, Canedo Rock, etc.). If this continues to escalate, the page will be unfairly deleted. Thanks for your time and understanding. Rustyeye (talk) 01:27, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Apology

Scarian, i would like to apologize for appearing as though i was trying to harass you, i'm just now getting the hang of how to communicate/ reply to other users, with that said and hopefully cleared up, i still can't say i found it right to revert my edit on the AC/DC page because it appears you either never heard of them at all, or know little about them, since the song i noted they performed at that particular concert, Big Balls was an actual song, and one of their most known, which is why i jump to the assumption. Even though you unfairly reverted my noting of what song they were playing when the picture was taken, i'm not going to attempt to edit anymore, nor will i make anymore trouble, or at least knowingly. If i do infact do something do whatever you feel is appropriate. In the meantime, could you or an equally responcible and courteous admin or whatever you are please message me some detailed directions on how to communicate better? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Axeman 10 (talkcontribs) 05:31, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

WP:STALKING

Wikistalking is about the disruption of articles not user space but disrupting Wikipedia by following editors and disrupting the mainspace. I think you meant WP:TROLL - the two things are very different. Trolls can be dealt with, Stalkers are not nice and effect the whole community. Bpeps (talk) 12:14, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Also, i'd like to add..

I'm trying to be nice here, but now it seems you're looking down on me, which i don't like, i was just asking you what the best ways are to reply to messages, but i guess this is it, and no, i didn't take the screenshot, but you didn't know for a fact i didn't, and or was at the concert, just as i didn't know you knew nothing about AC/DC, i happen to have a DVD of the concert though, and the jumping angle and position of the two guys looks alot like the one on it, but why make a point to me when i already told you i wouldn't mess with it anymore. Please be a little more understanding, because i actually thought i was being tormented, only to find out that you thought the same, and as far as the "stfu" thing goes, i wrote it in my own my talk thing, but i don't plan on using it anymore so i really don't care how immature it was, if you have anymore comments or questions go ahead, but please give me a little more slack. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Axeman 10 (talkcontribs) 23:02, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

He wasn't just reverted by us. Some of his other edits were reverted by other editors. So it would appear as though he is just like "Lumpx" and edits based on POV instead of refs. I had a terrible time keeping up with Lumpx last night. I tagged his IP as a sock. And I asked KOS to keep track. If he continues to POV his way around I will re-alert KOS and he will deal with it (or won't deal with it no matter whichever the case he feels necessary... he "admins" with teeth rather than a feather duster so he is one of the better admins I've seen). Maticora were attached to Scarlet records which are a notable label 'cause they have a few notable power metal bands with them. It's a tough call though... does being formerly attached to a notable label still make you notable? It would be a dodgey AfD, AMG has a couple of reviews of Manticora... and musique inclusionists love AMG... ScarianCall me Pat 11:29, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Admin coaching

Hi. I decided to withdraw my RFA because most voters said that I needed more experience (and they're probably right; 1,500 edits isn't too many) and I just wanted to say that I'm happy to accept your offer to coach me. Could you start by please explaining to me the concept of "admin recall"? I don't totally understand it. Thank you very much.--Urban Rose 19:35, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Experience

Thanks for the explanation of recall. As for experience, basically I'm looking for ways to become a more well-rounded editor. A few questions I have are: 1. How many edits should I have accumulated before trying another RFA? 2. How many of those edits should be mainspace? (I'm assuming that vandalism reversion doesn't qualify as mainspace edits.) 3. What are some admin tasks I can involve myself in without actually having the tools? 4. What are some easy mainspace activities to get involved in? Thanks again.--Urban Rose 19:56, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Flags, etc.

I'm sorry, but flags are not generally considered inappropriate on band pages. We had a huge debate over this over on MOSFLAG, and there was no consensus either way. Yes, they are inappropriate in a person's infobox, but bands are a different story. I assume good faith as a rule, but that "IP address user" is not contributing to Wikipedia, he/she is merely removing trifling things he/she doesn't like without discussion on talk pages, and it's just going to cause a huge problem. --Managerpants (talk) 12:03, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Struggling

Nav the Viking Goddess is having struggles all over Wiki this morning :D . Some people have an extremely hard time with WP:CON when it conflicts with their personal POV. They are the worst sort of editors. I'll take a simple vandal anytime over a soapboxer, POV pusher, a crufter, an agenda-ist or...ungh... worst of them all... inclusionists. Do you wanna know why 90% of Wiki articles suck? It's because 90% of its editors do too. that's my mornings worth of philosophical wit shot to Hell in one edit... but it's goin' on my talk page :D Welcome to the 10% club my friend! 156.34.142.110 (talk) 13:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

PS Did he forget if he was Odin, Nav or Sockysockysock?? :D . Another one for your blacklist. Do you know that range? A school? A certain someones school? Is there a reasonable concern that a certain single someone may try to tip the consensus by adding pro-logo support under multiple accounts? 156.34.142.110 (talk) 15:08, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Quick note

We never got a chance to sort this out yesterday, but I'm over it. I know you and Libs are friends, and I also know that I want no part of edit warring. I just got very upset when I saw scores of what I believe to be meaningless edits from that IP range, and then even more upset when he spoke condescendingly to me with that "I am never wrong" attitude. The problem with typing is that you can't always tell when someone's joking, being sarcastic, or really has a giant ego. :-) Anyway, happy editing! --Managerpants (talk) 11:47, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Deleted References

Seeing that user 156.34.xxx.xxx who is never wrong http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:156.34.142.110, has so many talk pages because he's anonymous, I'm posting on this page. User 156.34.xxx.xxx deleted my Yamano Gakki reference links that are essential to my history section on the Orville by Gibson page, These links show that Yamano Gakki obtained the Gibson dealership in 1987 which I make reference to in the History section. User 156.34.xxx.xxx then puts a unverified claims tag on the page in between deleting some of my references. No wonder I might have unverified claims.

I cannot verify these catalogues as we don't keep those types of publications in our digital system (unless you want to see a Sear & Roebuck Catalogue from 1922 :D) I tagged one as dubious since... if you read the articles... they read in places very much like "catalogues"... very much like Cut 'n' paste" catalogues... if you catch my meaning. I actually enjoy reading the articles as far as the general content goes. I am simply tagging them ion the hopes that one of Wiki's copyedit patrols pick them off in a random search and "work their magic". Please don't use your top secret super powers to block me for deleting Japanese blog links from English Wikipedia. PLEASE! don't block me :D how's that for "haven't had my morning coffee and got a ripping migraine to boot" sarcasm :D 156.34.142.110 (talk) 14:06, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Well you deleted Yamano Gakki History links that show the year in which Yamano Gakki became the Gibson agent in Japan. The catalogue prices are not just copy and paste and they are there because I am showing that various Orville guitar models were equivalent in original selling price which many second hand owners do not realize and the catalogue prices and models tie in with the Yamano Gakki/Gibson Orville history. The Orville by Gibson page has also Japanese web users using English to Japanese translators so has been written with this in mind.

Well first off you gotta refer to the places where you got that information, Guitarspecs. Second, blogs are not generally considered a reliable source. Third, it did look like copyvio. Even if it's not officially copyrighted with the little (c) thing, if you write an original piece of prose/whatever it's technically automatically copyrighted. See copyright. Have a nice day! Vandalism

You're joking, right? That is not vandalism. I am not up to no good. --208.138.31.76 (talk) 15:50, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

In case you're wondering I reverted my own edit and removed the warning :-) - It was an error that I noticed straight away and removed. I do apologise, friend :-) ScarianCall me Pat 15:53, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

I think not...

I most certainly did not vandalize! I was making a valid point, thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.92.207.153 (talk) 16:02, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

the thing to conner...

is true.

This is a school computer, so by banning one person, you are blocking everyone on this server's contributions.

The information about Conner is true, though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.92.207.153 (talk) 16:18, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for reverting my talk today and yesterday--Antonio Lopez (talk) 00:12, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Reference Desk

Thanks for the ideas at the reference desk as to my computer's choppiness. It only happened for a short while in the game, so it may have been a bug or some other anomaly. Useight (talk) 01:07, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Note

Your RfMOP will succeed because of your kindness to anons.( that and the fact that you've earned it 10 times over I hereby declare that any editor who opposes that nom is a completely useless tw*t who should be blocked from editing... and de-sysop'd if they're an admin. Now.... we wait.... see which an*l minority does oppose... and then create a fun little sandbox f*ckn*ts list that we can poke fun at... stalk and revert all their edits... rip the heads off their dolls... throw sand in their faces... call them na.... ohhh nevermind :D 156.34.210.147 (talk) 02:01, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

On further reflection though... have you contributed substantially to an FA? That's always one of the an*l gangs "need-to's". You and Funeral both are prime MOP candidates. I'll repeat what I said before when Funerals name was MOP dropped. Get lots of AfD, RfA, helpdesk, copyedits, and..... get an FA under your belt. Pick an article on a subject your familiar with... like Smartass just kidding.... you know what I mean :D and rs the sh*t out of it. An FA will put you over the top. 156.34.210.147 (talk) 02:06, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
