Scarve is a French extreme metal band from Nancy.

Their unique take on the genre presents a combination of technical thrash and death metal riffs and solos, jazz fusion, sparse industrial elements, dynamic and precision drumming from Dirk Verbeuren (now also drummer for Soilwork) and the combined talents of two vocalists, providing a versatile vocal range from aggressive death growls and screams to clean vocals.

They have released four full-length albums, the latest being The Undercurrent, released on April 2, 2007 on Listenable Records.

[edit] Biography

Formed in 1994 by Patrick Martin (rhythm guitar) and Dirk Verbeuren (drums), Scarve have evolved over the years from the progressive melodic thrash/death metal sound on their demos into something much more brutal and expansive. Their lyrics focus on futuristic themes and their sound brings to mind the progressive technicality of bands such as Meshuggah and Cynic as well as the heavy and speedy brutality and melody of bands such as Fear Factory and Strapping Young Lad.

Their 2004 album, Irradiant features a contribution from famed Meshuggah guitarist Fredrik Thordendal on the track, 'Asphyxiate'.

Reputed producer Daniel Bergstrand has produced all three of the band's albums, with ex-Misery Loves Co. member, Örjan Örnkloo also stepping in to help out on Irradiant.

Scarve have toured with bands such as Behemoth, Dew-Scented, Aborted, Akercocke, Gojira, and Nile.

[edit] Vocalist departures and The Undercurrent

In October 2006, it was announced that Guillaume Bideau had left Scarve during the recording of The Undercurrent in order to take over as lead singer in the Danish industrial metal band Mnemic.

His session replacement was announced to be ex-Darkane singer, Lawrence Mackrory (who sung on the album, Rusted Angel).

Following the release of The Undercurrent, on June 4, Pierrick Valence announced that he was leaving Scarve to focus on his other band, Phazm.
