Scandiano is a town in Emilia-Romagna, Italy, administratively part of the province of Reggio Emilia. It has 23,332 inhabitants as of December 31, 2004.
It is the native town of twice Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi. Other notable natives of Scandiano are: poet Matteo Maria Boiardo, whose family ruled Scandiano in the fifteenth century; biologist Lazzaro Spallanzani, who lived in the eighteenth century, and photographer Luigi Ghirri.
Since th Sixties, the town has been an important centre of tiles production, connected to the district of Sassuolo.
