SBS independent (SBSi) is the primary production unit of SBS "home-baked" primetime programming.
All productions are commissioned in association with the independent sector of the Australian film and television industry.
Since its establishment in 1994, SBSi has commissioned more than 800 hours of drama and documentary from independent Australian filmmakers, many of whom come from non-English speaking and indigenous backgrounds, and SBSi titles have won more than 450 national and international awards.
SBSi has secured a significant niche in the Australian production arena. Its commissioned works have been widely recognised through film and television awards and acknowledged by broader community response throughout Australia and overseas.
SBSi commissions feature films, drama series, animation, single documentaries, and documentary series. Now 2008, films in 720p, HD,
