[edit] Bengali Poet of Seventies সৈয়দ হাসমত জালাল
Syed Hasmat Jalal সৈয়দ হাসমত জালাল is an Indian poet, journalist and recipient of the Bangla Akademy award for poems. Born in 1957 at a village Khoshbaspur in Murshidabad. He has been writing poems and short stories since childhood.

Jalal in his early days joined Indian Air Force and travelled whole of India. During his stay in Delhi, he published various magazines and collection of poems and short stories. His experience of Air Force lead him to come closer to his roots in Bengal. When he returned to Kolkata, he took his writings seriously. He is mainly a poet from little magazine. But his entrace in every field of writings has made him different from others. He has inclinations to nature and beauty with a sensuous softness..
He is a regular columnist in Bengali daily news paper Aazkaal. He likes to comment on social and political affairs.
