Sawagongo High School is a top notch school in Siaya District, Kenya. Sawagongo has produced some of Kenya's academic elites and leaders. Among these include:
- The late Ambrose Adeya Adongo who headed the giant Kenya National Association of Teachers (KNUT)
- Bishop Wasonga Sijeyo of the Anglican Church of Kenya
- Paul Gondi.
- Dr. Stephen Nyangoma (a Genomics expert)
- Ken Nyagudi (Kenyan MP)
- Jakoyo Midiwo (MP, Gem Constituency)
- Were David Aoko (MP, Matungu Constituency)
- The late Arthur Okoth-Owiro (Prof. of Law - University of Nairobi).
Sawagongo alumni are splattered across the globe and much recently there has been a visionary effort to launch an alumni that would keep the academic embers of the school aglow.
The school has also been doing well in sports, especially in hockey, volleyball and handball where she has consistently been a top performer at the district and provincial levels. It is hoped that the current principal, Wasambo, in conjunction with the alumni and the school's board of governors, will steer the school to greater heights of prosperity.
