Saviour Pirotta (b, Malta 1958) is a best-selling children's author based in England. He moved to the UK in 1982 and has since established himself as an author specialising in retelling classical myths and folk tales. His books are produced mainly for the English market but they have been successfully published in various countries, including the United States, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Thailand, Greece, Estonia, Poland and Korea. His most successful projects include The Orchard Book of First Greek Myths, illustrated by Jan Lewis; The Sleeping Princess and other Fairy Tales from Grimm, illustrated by Emma Chichester Clarkboth for Orchard Books [2003], Aesop's Fables [2006] and Around the World in 80 Tales [2007], both published by Kingfisher in the UK and the US. The author now lives in Yorkshire. He is very much committed to empowering children to write and still performs workshops and story-making sessions in schools around the UK.
