The Savannah Country Day School, or SCDS, is a prep school founded in 1955 in Savannah, Georgia, with most of its pupils coming from the Pape School. The school's founding headmaster, Bob Trusdell, superintended the school's move from limited facilities on Drayton Street in Downtown Savannah to a new building on forty-five acres of land that Mr. Donald Livingston had given to Savannah Country Day. It remains in the White Bluff/ Windsor Forest area of southside Savannah.
The school operates a Lower School (grades PK-5) and a Middle School (grades 6-8) and an Upper School (grades 9-12). The Upper School has an enrollment of about 300 students and an average graduating class size of 75.
As of the year 2007 the headmaster is Tom Bonnell; assistant headmaster and Upper School Principal is Chris Garten; the Upper School Dean of Students is Leigh Beauchamp; the Upper School Guidance Counselor is Kathy Hodges.

[edit] Honor Code
The Honor Code helps keep Savannah Country Day an honest society. In the case of an Honor Code violation the student would be taken the Honor Council, a panel of six students and one teacher; there the violator would plead his case and the Honor Council would vote. The students also "pledge" most tests and quizzes. The pledge is: "On my honor, I pledge that I have neither nor given and received help on this assignment,I am not aware of infraction of the honor code"
[edit] Mission Statement
The Savannah Country Day School seeks to prepare students of academic and personal promise to meet with confidence, imagination, and integrity the challenges of college and of life. In partnership with supportive families, we strive to cultivate in each student the desire and the discipline to grow in wisdom, to lead lives of personal honor, to appreciate beauty, to pursue physical well-being, and to serve others with a generous, compassionate spirit. [edit] Schedule
The seven-period high school day begins with morning assembly at 8:00 a.m. in Jelks Auditorium on Wednesday, with homeroom every other day, and ends at 3:00 p.m. A rotating schedule provides variety in the school day while a daily activity period allows time for assemblies, class and club meetings, and extra help from teachers.
