Savanna languages
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Savannas family of languages is a postulated branch of the Niger-Congo languages that includes the old Gur and Adamawa-Ubangui families. The change was motivated by the recognition that the Adamawa languages do not form a coherent group, and that the are not necessarily more closely related to Ubangi than they are to Gur. The Savannas languages are as follows:
- Ubangi languages
- Senufo languages
- Gur languages
- Kulango languages
- Bariba language (Baatonũ)
- Vyemo language
- Tyefo language
- Natyoro language
- Tusya language (Win)
- Chamba-Mumuje languages
- Mbum-Day languages
- Waja-Bambuka languages
- Ba language
- Kam language
In addition, the unclassified Pre (Bεrε) and Fali languages may belong in this family.
