[edit] Fair use rationale for Šarūnas Sauka

This image is being used in the article on Šarūnas Sauka; though the picture is subject to copyright I feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  • The image is a low resolution copy of a famous painting by a famous artist (even though length exceeds 500px, the image still lacks a good number of details; even lower resolution would render the image useless);
  • The image is of low quality (for example, it has a distracting line in the middle resulting from a scan) and its copies will not affect copyrightholder's commercial opportunities;
  • The image is used to illustrate the unique style of the artist that made him famous;
  • The image adds significantly to the article as words alone cannot convey visual art;
  • The image is used for educational and informational purposes only;
  • The image is used by non-profit Wikimedia Foundation.
