Review Wikipedia:WikiProject Classical music/Cats4Bot.

Everything in the first section needs tagging with {{Classical}}.

The third section contains two anomalous categories, where every page in them is in some other category and so are not needed. For this section could the bot remove every page from these two categories and then I'll put the categories up for deletion.

  • Question prior to run: No ratings / classes / importance?
  • Comment: I generally run the bot on 50 categories per night. You have ~175, so it will take 4 days to run through them all.
  • Comment: Pleas watchlist this page, as anyone with any questions / concerns will be directed here. I'll respond to any questions / concerns if I'm able, but I'd prefer you (or anyone in the project) to be "responsible" for answering.
  • I may run the "third section" as a separate project during the day over the weekend - shouldn't be much work or server load, so that's no problem. I'll let you know when it's done.
Answer - No ratings / classes or importance for now as per Wikipedia:WikiProject Composers and Wikipedia:WikiProject Opera. Most articles would be classed as B or worse anyway. We don't have a single good article yet! Centy 10:43, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Great - I'll set it up now to run the first 50 tonight. -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 13:46, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Just to let you know everything went fine last night, except one thing which was totally my fault. I had included Compositions by Cole Porter which has tagged a few things which blantantly are not classical music. Don't worry, I've already manually dealt with that and everything in OK, for tonight. Centy 11:42, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Awesome! And what a coincidence! Last night I went to see a performance of Cole Porter songs performed by the New Hampshire Gay Men's Chorus - how weird! Anyway, I've set up the run for tonight. Since it seems there aren't *tons* of pages to tag, I'm running half the remaining tonight, half tomorrow. -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 13:50, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
I've had a request from WikiProject Opera to try and avoid accidentally tagging opera articles. Now there seems no hard and fast way to guarantee this, but I was wondering if you could make it so your bot didn't add {{Classical}} if an article's talk page already has {{Opera}}. Also would it be possible for it to skip anything with opera or Opera in the article title as that usually is a dead giveaway! Thanks (and great job so far) Centy 20:43, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
I've added the "don't put on a banner if a specified banner is already there" function, so the bot will skip pages that are already tagged with {{Opera}}. The title one was too specific for me to add, so I'm afraid you'll have to scan the log files to make sure they're not tagged. Was the best I could do :) -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 02:07, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
That's fine. If the Opera WP forgot to tag an article, we can't be responsible for not picking it up. Oh, and I've included a few categories that should also get tagged. This may mean there's too much for one night, so perhaps you'll need to do two runs still. Sorry about that! Centy 12:15, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Kewl. That brings us to 72 Cats for tonight, but since we're running at under 1000 pages to put the banner on, I think we'll be fine. -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 16:22, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Finished removing "duplicate" cats

I've finished removing the two "duplicate/redundant" cats you mentioned. -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 02:14, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
